Ironically, not focusing on building your channel, and moving into experimentation, will probably build your channel more than focusing on building your channel.
That’s what I hope for as well. Many times we youtubers do very shortsighted decisions based on raking in views today, using the concepts and rules we know to work. We don't dare to experiment because every video "has to" perform.
If we go outside the box, we might lose views in the short run, but when we nail it and find a unique concept that people really like and haven't seen anywhere else, it might become 10x more popular than the old videos.

Each of your videos about photography is an inspiration for me to experiment and take macro photos. I'm not interested in the form in which you do it, only the content of the film itself, which is substantive and concise. The film about failed sessions and photos was interesting and inspiring. Greetings from Poland from the city of "Przemyśl Fortress" and I wish you further success on the channel. I support your decision regarding the further approach to implementing this channel and I keep my fingers crossed.
Photography from the heart ..... yes ..... isn't that what it's about. If you don't have passion for the image how can you tell the story. The oldtimers always denigrated the square paper image .... so why was the 120 620 film 6x6 image so popular and famous in all of those iconic camera brands used by so many famous photographers. Rules about composition were made to be broken.
Keep on telling your story from your passion in the way it fires you with enthusiasm. I want to hear it. I might agree or disagree with it or its presentation .... but it will make me think and debate .... and stimulate my passion.
Thanks for being so honest about your ideas and thoughts for the future. I love your work and your candidness.
I think in the long run that's the right strategy to keep your interest up and developing your interests. Looking ahead to see which route it will be 👍 With 50-60 cm snow outside the door the spring is far away 🙂
Your square format looks fine on my smartphone. It even saves my effort to rotate the smartphone as in nearly all other videos.
But I notice that if I watch this using my desktop PC, I can't see the CC button (for subtitle) nor the full-screen button. Not sure why.
BTW, the square aspect ratio makes me reminiscent of 'Perfect Days', a recent Japanese film directed by the famous German Wim Wenders (you can find the trailer of this movie in UA-cam). Perhaps it is in 4:3 format, but very close to square.
Your channel about to explode
I had a 126 camera for years when growing up - didn't like the square format back then - so often i had to try to capture something diagonally to fit it in (no wide angle available for me back then) and it didn't please me either - and still don't like this unnatural format today.
I'm glad you already have 100,000 subscribers. You are very popular in Poland. I also often watch your videos and learn thanks to them. I look forward to your next videos. Best regards.

I too like the square format though croping square with my 35mm DSLR means loosing pixels which may, or may not matter. I have my late father's Yashica mat and that film camera has a square format of 6 x 6cm so no need for an L bracket for portrait mode. Lenses project a round image. Now that image sensors are getting larger, I would like the manufacture's to make a round sensor so that we can take round images and crop them however we wish to. What do you think? Rob

Great channel. Do it how you like. It's your creation, not ours. You're very informative and have art taste. I'm not going to name names, but there are some channels that are only audience based, for example... today, some guy that sniffs his lenses and stuff before a review, and i felt dumber by the time i got 2 minutes in. Need to conserve what little cells I have left so abruptly left.

I like this square format especially when I enter another app and youtube runs in the background, it's so fun to drag a video square more than a rectangle. Also, for shorts it's amazing. I can see the whole description of the video. Awaiting impatiently for your next clips🎉
Oh, you need to watch this on mobile. Squarecrop looks better for mobiles. Does not work the same on tv which usually use. Please continue experimenting. Its the only way learn what works in which situations. Also question. Have you photographed terrarios having insects and what nots? Or those closed enviroments inside sealed glass bottles?
Haven't photographed terrariums or sealed glass bottles. Prefer to be outdoors when photographing

I do like your videos and like to see your views on equipment etc. Also really like your photo walks but I must say I don't like the square format. Having said that though, you do what you want and I'll still watch!

I think the square view is more intimate and concentrates the viewers eye compared to the 16:9 format, when the insects arrive you might consider the larger view, after all it’s your call…
