I use a jewellers loupe on the back camera and pinch zoom. Works good enough for electronics repair. Adjusting lighting is key to a good outcome
Now this is something that makes me sway, and I understand the number of dislikes. On one side you show a creative DIY idea for making a cheap camera stand for people that just can’t afford getting a professional one but need to get into SMD work, on the other side you show using ELP’s camera modules which have quite a hefty price tag (but are real great quality).
But probably this is exactly the right way to start: Build an el cheapo stand at first but don’t make any compromise on the image quality.
An interesting approach indeed! My vote is a hefty LIKE.
N.B.: Where did you pick up the nifty mini-tripod for the smartphone?
How to make a long-focus digital microscope? For soldering under the microscope...
Please make a video about it...
Nice idea but the camera on the phone is probably better. I use my Samsung Note 4 for this sort of work all the time as the zoom is great for reading all the component values and inspecting solder joints which I often need to look at different angles so a fixed platform doesn't work so well.
Using that particular camera apparently gives you very little clearance for a soldering iron, due to its short, but fixed focal-length. You might have gotten better results, had you used the third camera instead (i.e., the one that focuses like a DSLR).
Anyway, thanks for this video. This setup would likely save a lot of money over the purchase of an electronic hobbyist microscope. :)
Looks very interesting but the working distance seems a bit short for electronic use, is there a better camera that can work at a further distance say 10 or 12 cm away? The magnification can be no more than 50 times
I am curious about the same thing you asked. It's been a year since you asked, so have you found the answer yourself seeing as you never received a response?
It’s actually only a matter of the stand (build it higher). ELP have such a wide range of camera modules (non-distorting, up to 1080p50, long focal distances) that you only need to select the one that perfectly fits your work situation. (I’m not affiliated with them anyhow but used their modules in the past.)
You need to add a screw, long enough, in one of the outer holes to act like a lens protector. So it will hit the base your looking at before that the lens does🙂🙂
Very nice idea. I been needing magnification for my electronics work. This will work, just need to adjust base design to meet my needs. Thanks!!
very good idea!! For electronics work and excellent !! Congratulations! Thank you!!
How would this work for electronics? You can't get a soldering iron between the board and the lens, its sticks out, my bet is that you aren't even able to put your probes in such a tight place.
Bro you can reverse the lenses and then fix, that will be a more powerful microscope, but good work😎😎😎😎
Could it not be possible to attach it to a flexible arm and long USB cable to be connected to LED TV or iPad ? Flexibility of the arm comes handy while doing active repairing , if there's no problems of defocusing.
Hot melt glue : the sign of a QUALITY project! ;)
Thanks. Very nice videos sir, could you tell from where to get these items and what will be approximately cost of these items.
wooooow man what a cool idea, i definitely can't afford the real microscope for smd soldering thanks to you im gonna make mine soon
They're online starting at 12 bucks plus shipping.I'm after a 500x magnification usb microscope for viewing details on coins for errors and stuff.
Great, I particularly like the mixed imperial and metric measurements.
Just wondering if I could strip the camera module out of an old phone?
You can do it, but you would have to buy or custom make an camera extension cable. They don't have a standardized pinout, so what works for you may not work for everyone. It's not worth designing an circuit that turns your phone camera's signals into HDMI. And if the phone is a smartphone, you can integrate it into it and get a microscope that beats all others for a similar price!
Friend, I loved your invention VERY original, I will try to use for a webcam that I have here, excellent I congratulate you brother, thenak you
Few DIY projects get a super WOW factor. This is definitely one of those! 😎👍 So easy to make, too. Now to save up the pennies to buy some of the camera's 🤪
Thnx

Very nice and clear. Is it possible to solder under the cam ? What is the distance between the lens and cam ?
This idea is amazing.
Really awesome work, man. Really good!
Nice for just looking but distance between object and lens is too small to work/ solder on it.
46 USD .. i was thinking more like 5 bucks
Excellent creative idea, really like that!!!
its so near to the component for sure difficult to solder or pry out smd component
Marvelous Idea. Thank you.
What n idea...bro...👌
Thanks Also 4 buying link.
💐
that is WAY BETTER and WAY CHEAPER than any I have seen. I much rather make it! that's so cool!
Another thing you can use as an HD digital microscope is an HD digital microscope. It's similar to this, only half the price, doesn't involve hot gluing and doesn't get in the way of your soldering iron when you're trying to use it while soldering.
Why didnt you use the other camera in this video-to get a better working distance
Nice job. Very neat
Thank you! Hi Easy HomeMade Projects, answer me a question: Why didn´t you use aluminum (or other consistent material) instead of wood? Would be much more consistent!!!
Good video sir
found this video very helpful , will use this video idea to auto zoom pcbs nice one
buen video, una herramienta muy recursiva
You could use an old CD tray; already has the guide rails in place
Good job !
WOW SUPER BRO
nicely done!
have you tried recording at 1280x720? if so, can it really record at 30fps? my appreciation in advance!
Yup, you can record HD@30fps
nice! i was worried that FPS would go down alot and cause a "studdering image"=) ty for your time!
very good project and I have a request please make a power audio amplifier project with transistors or mosfets maybe 100 watt RMS or something😃
Shit bro what to power from 240v mains ....battery 12v or lipo .....what speakers to drive ....how much ya wanna spend cheapest way is not always the best way bruv if thats what ya thinking lol
Go on ebay find a self build kit ay it I found a 15watt x 2 kit from china
nice . great work
Great idea!
amazing idea man
great job 👍👍👍👍👍
Super idea
Interesting idea, but I don't think you're going to do much soldering under that microscope. How much clearance to you have, about 2 inches, maybe less?
were did you get the screen from that the camera plugs into to? i understand the camera but i dont understand the screen you view the picture form. what is it? its samsung buts that all i could guess.
loved this
help me please , i have that camera but only 3 wire , i dont know how to wiring , which one i should use , red black white , or red black green.?
great idea broo nice nice..
nice idea..
but, not really practical for soldering purposes. how in the world are you supposed to solder under that camera. with ant sized soldering iron?
good but i want to know if all types of webcam can fonctionne on android phone ?
Do you have a link for the exact camera model that you used at the end? The links send me to the store and there's lots of models. Thank you
hello you make a echo sound circuit in previous videos.
you didn't give the PCB layout.
please give the PCB layout...
Nice,great video!
Thnx
Theres something wrong with the sound, you forgot to mix the voice-track in?
very nice. how to work on pcb soldering or remove chip
How are you supposed to work on anything a ½ inch away from ccd?????
Great tutorial, I have liked and subscribed ... :)
Bro aap phaly phaly video main long flexible arm use krty thy Kia?
Best trick
That it's so cool men the camera wow I want it
Best idea for cheap 😎😎but while soldering ; the soldering iron could touch the camera 😞😞😞
Thank you.
Use some LEDs to illuminate object
Wow perfect and respect for you.
how much price of those cameras,& where we found that?
Why do you mix inches with mm its very confusing?
Very Cool ! Like !
Italo Lima hi
Good
Ncs
Brother
Good work
How are you supposed to solder under that?
look good.... thx..
good idea but not efficient you have to remember when you work with hot-gun and the iron it can damage your camera, you should use one can zoom from distance. thanks anyway
you can easily select a different camera and do that just as easily. maybe he wanted it not for soldering. but you can easily pick one good for soldering yourself if you wanted. everyone's needs are different, so yes, it actually is very efficient.
Which camera do you have?
Very cool
I would like to know if it is compatible with a Huawei smartphone with Android 4.4 - From the sales stores it is not clear.
nice video sir,,💪💪
this support for sound? nice work
What Apps you download to operate the camera???
Randy Wong ya phone otg compatible lmao
I found on ali elp usb camera....1080P@60FPS... It is good option. But i diy microscope from webcam+lens from ali...see my diy videos ;)
What software are you using on your phone?
Microscope?? Looks like it’s just using camera zoom. What magnification?
Nice
very nice
Ótima ideia .
Good idea .
Espectacular
good idea
Круто
однаkо !
👍😎
Nice, but what is it with the hot glue. UA-cam has gone crazy over hot glue. Don't be lazy and drill and screw together. The projects will be sturdier and may last for years. I give the hot glue a couple of months.
I built mine using Technical Lego and used hot glue to attach the camera and it is still as good as the day I built it over 5 years ago, the reason for hot glue is it can be removed easy if required.
Technical Lego is plastic, therefore is the hot glue suitable for attaching parts. But I agree with paul30003, drilling some holes and using screws is a way better than glueing, it is even easier to remove and replace components if needed and projects are waaaay sturdier. Indeed, almost every DIY project on UA-cam is using hot glue, but it's not as sturdy as it looks at first. Believe me, I started my DIY projects same way, but I realized very soon, it's not a solution that can last for long. Other than that, a cool idea for a DIY.
because it's for youtube...
the question is, will you ever see this thing he built again? hot glue is enough when the thing is going to get ripped apart and either the parts reused or even returned to the seller or ebay'd, anyway.
this channel is just a youtube channel for hits, not one of those "i do this as a hobby or a job, anyway, but i want to share it with people and if i can get a bit of cash why not"
Few years ago I call this phenomenon with young, modern youtube diy'ers "Hot glue generation" Everything mess with sticky white fluid.
super bro
My phone can already do this in macro without any additional stuff.
wowww
Good but very short distance to work.
Hello my friend... Why don't have image this video???
?
Morón , la idea es hacer un proyecto sencillo y económico , no es tratar de ser un Nikola Tesla o Alva Edison ( translation : Dumb the idea is to do a simple project which saves you some money , is not to become a Nikola Tesla or an Alva Edison)
