    It's hard to believe that there was a time when only movies like this dominated the box office. Now it's all just marvel and star wars on a seemingly endless loop of predicibility and monotomy.

      Time will come again. The dumb popcorn stuff and the big studios are on decline, which will give more power to the small, creative guys with a small budget...like Lucar once was....he came when the movies of the 60s and 70s died....we will get new iconic stuff again, and raise those creators on a pedestal so they will become what they hate now and rinse repeat.
      Humans are that primitive...sadly...

    This is by far one of the most perfect films ever made, the scenery and the atmosphere is so iconic and eerie, I've been watching art films for about 25 years, and still, Se7en is one of the very, very best, ever!
    This inspired me to watch it again now....

      I don't know why you're saying this, because I simply cannot see what's so awful about Pitt's acting in this film. And just to avoid any possible confusion or misunderstanding, I'm not a B.Pitt fan - not at all! But I do claim him to be quite good and talented actor, who, throughout his career, had given us numerous and various stunning performances. Maybe this one isn't amongst the best, but I sure find it to be of a good quality. His character represents the youth, the naivety, a person who, based on his experience so far, has found himself in a world where people like him don't belong. He's the man who represents human curiosity, the point of view on life which is untainted with the filthy trades of the human nature, so his stands are essentially based on ideological basis, hence (a part of) his naivety. And a character like B.Pitt fits all those trades extremely well, for a film story like this one, in Seven.
      Maybe you simply don't like him, or despise the big Hollywood names (don't think I'm crazy about them, on the contrary, I watch completely different films, and the list of my favorite actors is totally different - mostly with foreign, but there are Americans - even Hollywood names, in it - and I'm not an American, nor British), and maybe that's the reason you feel this way about Pitt in this role. Otherwise, I can't see why you'd be characterizing it as a complete miscast! Plus, take into an account that it's 1995, and he wasn't a huge name back then, but a rising star. So I don't argue about his contribution in selling tickets, but to point it as the soul reason for casting him?! I don't think so. Don't forget that he and Fincher knew one another before it, and made a few films afterwards as well.
      Now, taking into an account how long my comment is, it'll turn out that even though I'm saying that I'm not a Brad Pit fan, I actually am! But that's not the case! I just find Seven to be one of the best and most important American films of the 90's, and I think it's simply perfect!

      Pitt is a pretty mediocre actor, but he was used correctly in this movie to great effect. He was the hothead with something to prove, but ends up being completely undone by John Doe

    The "box" scene without any music score in the background feels for some reason all the more stark and real, as if it actually feels you're watching a real event. I like it

    The sheer detail and thought behind John Doe's notebook is insane for it just to have 2 seconds of screentime.

    It is so unbelivable in how much detail they think and talk, this is not a overflatt talking round, it`s a extremely emotional response of how to make movies with an deep impact.

    The effort made into creating se7en is unforgettable now that I have seen what I was going to. By today's standards, Se7en could easily score an Oscar in production of the sets and props. This was a raw give-away. To get your eyes on something more intresting, watch Indie Film Hustle's take on it.

    I love the movie. One of my favorites, but there are a lot of stuffs that happens that simply makes zero sense.
    Morgan Freeman (his character) there at the end, with all his insight and intelligence could easily prevent Brad Pitt from shooting the guy. From all the possibilities he picked the worst one. The one that would make Kevin Spacey's plan work perfectly and that was just too dumb to be believable, we know Freeman is wiser than that.
    How about Spacey arriving by TAXI in front of the station drenched in blood? How on Earth did the TAXI drivers picked him up like that?

    • @royaltoadclub8322
      @royaltoadclub8322 2 роки тому

      You are talking about a man who got someone to kill a girl with a bladed strap-on. You think he is going to have difficulty getting a taxi?

    • @errwhattheflip
      @errwhattheflip 2 роки тому

      I think the taxi part was kind of to show more of the worldbuilding. This is a society ruled by apathy, as shown throughout the entire runtime of the film. So it wouldn't be too far-fetched to consider that the person just didn't care enough to bother.
      As for Freeman's character, I'm not entirely sure what he could have done.

    • @VelhaGuardaTricolor
      @VelhaGuardaTricolor 2 роки тому

      @@errwhattheflip We are going to agree to disagree on the taxi part, because even though I understand the apathy theme and all, I don't think John Doe would get a cab to stop. Cab drivers don't give a rats ass about a lot things but blood on their seat is not one of them.
      Regarding the Freeman's character, he could easily walk back, pretending he had seen nothing in the box that was of any relevance. take Brad Pitt's weapon from him (in various different ways) and prevent the killing from happening.
      I know the movie works better the way it did, but my point was only regarding the likelihood of those actions actually transpiring.
      I love the movie to bits. Wouldn't change one single frame.
      I am just saying there are quite a few very convenient bits, as most movies do.

    • @errwhattheflip
      @errwhattheflip 2 роки тому

      @@VelhaGuardaTricolor As for the taxi thing, I don't think it's too big of an issue considering that people didn't even notice Doe's character until he yelled out for the detectives. As I said earlier, I think that kinda exemplifies the apathy and weirdness of this world

    • @VelhaGuardaTricolor
      @VelhaGuardaTricolor 2 роки тому

      @@errwhattheflip Yeah but you take examples out of the same movie that was scripted so people wouldn't react until he yelled. For sure that is the theme of the movie. You are absolutely right on that. But I never disputed it. What I say is that script aside a taxi driver in any big city will never ever pick up anyone in broad day light that is drenched in blood, even if they don't care why the person is like that. But they care about their car seats.
      That is all.
      So to me the scene is a bit too absurd.
      But like I've said. It works for the movie and to create the impact it desired.
      My point is comparing it to reality.
