I was in the 1st Infantry Division in peaceful Germany in the early seventies. Dear ole' Dad was in the second wave at Omaha Beach. He was an MP. He spent the "Longest Day" going up and down the beach leading soldiers to the right draws to rejoin their units. I think he'd have been honored to meet a "Big Red One" alumni like yourself to congratulate you on thirty years of patriotic service. Well done Sargent Major. Good luck in your retirement. You'll do well, for sure.

After Vietnam the 1st ID was stationed at Fort Riley, KS. I know because I was in both places back then with the 1st. Co. B 1/2. I was then stationed in Germany with the 3 ID. C company 1/15. Then back to Ft. Riley in early to mid seventies 74-76 when I was discharged. The only time the 1st was in Germany was the Re-Forger exercises we had for 1-2 months in the Fall. 1st ID was not stationed in Germany back then. The 3rd ID was and I was stationed there also with them.

Man he used to kick my butt at Fort Eustis. Someone I've always looked at as the best example of a leader. Never hesitate when the opportunity came to mentor your leaders. Your leadership will be truly missed.

CSM (R), This is SSG Evans here. I was under you during your time at Fort Bragg as a CSM in 2-82. Damn.....The Army has lost a good one....I will never ever forget the meeting you had when you first got to the Battalion with all NCOs. You said "either you are on my team or you aren't on my team." If you aren't on my team and you wanna be out of the Army let me know now so we can help your process in the Army a little easier by sending you to Fort Coach." lololololo loved that and it always stuck with me. I ran with you a few times during PT. I was under 1SG Zerby now SGM Zerby...Great Leadership man. Will never forget your face even though I was transitioning away from the Unit to go Reserves. (Now an AGR Recruiter). Those small things have impacted my career. Take care and I wish you the best in your next career. Job well done CSM....job well done.

I mean because of his experience who could become a teacher or DOD employee where he is contributing somehow if he loves Blackhawks so much. But honestly I think it he may get the opportunity normally since the army will officially transition to the new Bell 280 Valor over several years.

    CSM make America Great Again?
Finish you military obligation. Return State Side and run for Governor. In the past it was veteran in office. Lets bring this culture back?
CSM of America 🇺🇸 needs men and women with experience. And you CSMs know.
I personally served with CSM TONG, CSM GREY, CSM WILLIAMS, CSM CHEESEBREW.
All great examples of professional American citizen soldiers.
We need more quality personel in office.

I'll bet he's happy to be retiring from this POS.
I know I'm glad to be retired from it. I'm almost at the point where I'm ashamed to have been in it. At least what it's become.
