The facts are Utited is a mess and everybody knows it, Neville was talking about how Stadium is falling apart long before. But even this does not excuse Ronaldo to come out and spit in his managers face, he signed a contract and he is no different from everybody else it the dressing room. If Lindelof came out and said this everybody would say who do you think you are f*ck off, but in this case Ronaldo is protected by his 300million fanboys.
In this video you see a perfect example of the difference between a football fan who loves the sport over everything else, and a football fan who loves a player so much they can’t see things objectively as they should do as fans

I don't understand how anyone can watch this current version of Ronaldo play and still think he's an elite forward, he simply isn't at all. Similarly, I don't understand how people can watch us with Ronaldo and not understand how detrimental he is to our game and how ETH wants to play. He's one of the best footballers ever, but age is catching up with him now, and that isn't his fault. Terminate his contract and move on without him.

Is Ronaldo an all-time legend at Man Utd? Of course. Is he still a world-class player? Yes, although it's clear he's on his way down amongst the rest of the elite-level players. The problem with this discussion is that I don't think anyone is owed a starting position in any team just because they played well for them in a previous season. Ronaldo did score a lot of goals for us last season but his profile just doesn't fit with the sort of striker that Ten Hag wants in his team going forward, and I really think that his presence slows down the team overall, even if he can be the goalscorer when he's playing.
We honestly look electric when he isnt playing and i think its because hes getting slower.
I'd argue he is no longer world-class this season. He is nothing more than a goal scorer and hes struggled massively this season
@@kinglioniod I agree and it's such a shame because he's clearly clinging on to a time in his career that just doesn't exist any more. And that should be fine! He's almost 38, there shouldn't be any shame in acknowledging that he doesn't have all the physical attributes that he once had, and that the best thing for the team isn't putting him up top every match. No player should ever put themselves above the team so it's sad to see him do that now

I’m 100% with Spencer. The other guy is clearly wearing a Ronaldo jersey while talking about this subject. Yes he scored goals but he ruined their system. His goals took away goals from Bruno, Cavani, Martial, and Rashford which took them from UCL spots to Europa League. Look at them now shining again with him on the bench. The team that put him on the map & gave him his first sniff at glory has been disrespected, they’re in every right to cut him. His intentions are purely of self interest, if he cared about United so much he wouldn’t have wanted to join their biggest rivals, Man City so badly.

Ronaldo is done at the top level. He'll still expect high wages that clubs can't afford and which changes the wage structure/dynamic of the club. Why would any club want to have a player that clearly thinks they'll be the most important thing at the club? Either he takes a huge pay cut to play at a big club or he goes to the USA or other country where they can pay his current wages.

To be 100% fair, Messi’s interview back in 2020 was pretty scathing of Barcelona overall too lol. The biggest difference is two things: Ronaldo’s actions leading up to this were immature and 2, Messi’s interview was in Spanish. Things get lost in translation and forgotten

I'm so torn about this. The fact that Ronaldo would do such an interview, means that he really wants to leave Manchester United. I don't like players pressuring clubs with these kind of interviews. Let's be honest, he doesn't have to do this to earn a better contract. Which means it's a personal choice. Does the club deserve to bench such a player, or does he deserve to be a star player at a decent club? I'm leaning to Spencer, he could've been such a pivotal player on a lot of different levels to Manchester United. The problem is that we don't know what happens behind the scenes. Ronaldo is for me the best player in ethics, and I truly believe that if he feels he has to leave United right now, then he has to. For me the best player ever was Cruyff, and he changed teams in the last season from Ajax to Feyenoord, because he wasn't satisfied how he was treated. He still is an icon in football, and guess how the Ajax stadium is called now...?

This won't change my opinion on Cristiano Ronaldo the footballer, because he is undeniably still one of the greatest to ever do it. It does massively affect my opinion on the person. You simply cannot do this. No player can think he is bigger than the club. He talks about how Unite haven't progressed enough in the time he's been gone, but then he goes after the man that's trying to change this the ebst he can from his position: Erik ten Hag. Besides that, I agree with Spen, he can't be doing this to his Portugal teammates, a week before (arguably) his last World Cup.

As someone who’s watching him week after week I can tell you he ain’t a joke of a footballer anymore
People like Toby keep talking about what Ronaldo has done in the game but ignore what he is currently doing. He has played in 16 games this season and scored 3 goals, 2 of those goals are in the Europa League against teams like Omonia (no disrespect to them of course). Ronaldo has lost the physical dominance he had throughout his career, doesn’t have the explosive pace to run past anyone anymore and doesn’t have the work rate that is expected of modern day forwards. He is still a top quality finisher but he basically wants/needs everything fed to him, he doesn’t work for anything. I also think he loses his head when things aren’t going perfectly for him and starts whinging and having a go at teammates. I also don’t understand fans saying he has to play when it is proven Man Utd get more wins/points without him.

Don't really agree with the point on Messi because he offered to take a 50% wage cut which is the legal limit from you're previous contract due to Spanish employment law and I believe even though Messi is technically doing well at PSG, there an equal chance at least that he would have stayed if they were able to keep him because if his love for Barca and the people at the club.

Toby doesn't seem to be the sharpest tool in the shed. I'm afraid that he doesn't really have a clue about this whole situation. To say that a club should build their team around someone due to their clout is ridiculous and this will entirely change how the club operates. His point about players being selfish does not apply to this situation because this is situation is more than selfish. To say that Ronaldo was doing this to help Man Utd is frankly ridiculous.

In Spain there is a rule where a players wages can only be cut in half Messi offered this to Barca and they still couldn't afford him.
The fact that he is willing to do this and Ronaldo isnt shows character no disrespect on Ronaldo for not halving his wages but Messi cannot be dragged down with him for his recent actions.

It doesn’t make sense to play and build the team AROUND a 37 year old Ronaldo as opposed to building a system for the future of the team. I’m not even a United fan but it is smarter to build around a new core of players and have a solid system in place.

I think the problem here is that they clearly seem to talking about two different players. No idea who this Ronardo Toby keeps talking about it
The whole situation is driven by ego from all angles, not least because Piers Morgan was the interviewer and was clearly loving every word that came out of Ronaldo’s mouth. Ronaldo clearly has a damaged ego and can’t let go of the fact that he isn’t ‘that guy’ anymore. Clubs rejected him (Chelsea twice now), and he is regretting going to Utd in the first place in 2021 but doesn’t want to take responsibility for that clearly or he would’ve said so. The timing as well is perfect for him, everything has been manufactured to assure ronaldo gets exactly what he wants. The whole argument of ‘Utd should’ve let him go in the summer’ doesn’t make sense to me, that’s not a valid defence of ronaldo. He signed a 2 year contract and he’s obliged to fulfil that with dignity and respect unless Utd accept a deal they feel is suitable for them above all else.
I love Spencer and I love Toby, but some of the things they said were hard to listen to. As a United fan, United clearly look better when he is not playing. I understand the club needs massive changes, but Ronaldo doesn’t care about that. He is clearly just trying to say that to keep some fans on his side. How can you both say any big player would do this when almost none have? Spencer even saying he thinks Pogba would do this, even with all if Pogba’s issues at United and his agent speaking he never went this far. Loving the new studio and content, but not sure how anyone can support Ronaldo’s interview, especially when Toby said he HAD to do this. Ridiculous.

Ten hag isn’t the problem here. If a player scores 2 goals in 15-20 games then the manager is well within his rights to drop him. Ten hag is the only person who decides the lineups. If Ronaldo doesn’t agree then he should do what every other player does when they’ve been dropped. Work hard in training and try and prove he’s good enough to start, and if that doesn’t work then move to a new club in the summer no drama. Instead he has demonised himself to man united fans and he’s shown that he’s arrogant and immature and he’s essentially throwing his toys out of the pram. Of course the way man united is run is appalling but that doesn’t justify it. He chose to show no loyalty to the club itself or it’s fans and that’s just unacceptable. He obviously thinks he’s more important than the club get rid of him ASAP and sign a striker that’s willing to try and work hard. If an employee in any other job did that WHILE they were under contract then they’d be sacked immediately. I don’t see this as any different.
