This coffee machine literally has something for everyone no matter how you like your coffee, but if I have to pick just one favorite from all the modes I would pick the gold setting, use it with a cone filter, and add 4 cups of water-4 scoops of Coffee, this combination never fails. It is quite possibly one of the best cups of coffee I have had so far, and without any doubt the best made in my house. ☕
Thank goodness I found your video. I have been searching weeks for an a great machine to replace the medlesome Nespresso machine I have. This is is since I do cold brew, pour overs and regular brewed coffee. Thank you!
Thanks for this great review. It has several things that aren't included in Breville's terrible manual: for example, who knew that the Gold setting doesn't bloom for over 4 cups!? I've read lots of reviews and this is the only places that tells us this.
I just got this brewer and when I made the first pot (12 cups) I put the recommended amount of grounds in and set it on the gold setting. Everything was factory set and it only took 5 minutes to brew. The coffee wasn't particularly flavorful and when I went to clean the machine, I found about 15% of the grounds didn't even get wet. I was very disappointed and confused. I went to my brew and set the brew speed to medium and brewed 10 cups the next day. It was better than the first one but not as good as I expected. I switched to the cone setup and it did brew a better. I am experimenting with the grind size to try and get a satisfactory result. It may take a few more times.
Cant you use the grinder built in to your Barista Express espresso machine with a bottomless portafilter to grind the whole beans for the Precision brewer using the purge setting & a scale?
How is this machine for making a single cup - not the pour over set up. Do you need to hold the cup just under the spout? Will it splash all over if the cup sits on the plate when it brews?
I leave my machine plugged in all the time, I think there's no need to unplug it when you're not using it. However, if you're leaving the house for an extended period of time, it's a good idea to unplug it.
Consider the Baratza Encore. It can grind for drip, pour over, French Press, and cold brew. It’s perfect for single dosing. Baratza has excellent customer support. They sell parts in the event something breaks. The grinder is a workhorse and there are plenty of reviews on UA-cam. It retails for $169, which is a good value.
I just purchased one of these. I did the "flush" and there is still water in the bottom of the tank. It's about 1/4" up from the bottom of the tank. I know you said some water is normal but this seems like a lot. Is that about how much should be in there?
I just bought one as well and I found the same thing. I just dumped it out myself. I've used the machine once for a single cup and it seemed to use all of the water to make it. The coffee tasted great as well.
Hi all, Does anyone know how to reset the machine as I did not set the water hardness level before it performed its first flush. I turned it off and pulled the power cord from the power point for about one minute. Unfortunately, it did not go back to factory settings to start again. It showed up brewing options. Can any one help? Thanks.
To reset the machine to the factory settings, including water hardness setting. Hold the start button, the select button and auto start button altogether for 3 seconds. When LCD shows”rES” (flashing), press SELECT button to start. then next prompt asks “yes” or “no” to confirm.
I’ve watched about 10 videos on this brewer and your video is definitely the most informative. Thank you!
Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed it!

I like the pour over feature, I use it all the time. The Kalita fits better than the V60.

You need to flip the bottom and the side of the cone filter before using it.
Also water your filters before brewing.

Great video and good review but At 14 minutes and 15 seconds in your video you mentioned that 4 cups = 1 liter but I think 8 cups = 1 liter
I believe she was referring to 4 8 ounce cups (32 0z.) 1liter equalling 33.8 Ounces.
