- The Australian’s Adam Creighton warns US government economists have “no idea" about the future of the country’s economy as the Federal Reserve keeps interest rates at a 23-year high.
The US Federal Reserve has held interest rates steady at 5.25 to 5.50 per cent after a meeting this week.
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell warned sticky inflation means the economy isn’t ready for rate cuts yet.
“They are just completely guessing, and for ordinary people, that’s not very good news,” Mr Creighton told Sky News host James Morrow.
“There’s no security about the future for their own finances.”
