Could probably use wood instead of the aluminium blanks if you can't get them, it won't be as sturdy but will probably work.

Cool idea. Honestly if you look u can find most of the stuff pre-cut itl add a little to price but still much cheaper
They sell Matt black aluminum corner led mounts on Amazon so u don't have to paint it.
Why cut a chunk out of the aluminium profile for the wires? You cut the wires .. You could have drill small hole in the centre to keep the integrity of the profile and then fed the cables through?
I been seeing these lights called portal light and there IA also a tri portal light could that be a project feature you do awsome work btw keep it up. Respect from Toronto
