I used to wear the original since high school back in 2006, and used to be my favorite and go to besides the Dior Homme. The original had only Vanilla, Amber and Musk, at least in it's discription, and how it smelled. That's what it was famous for, for being in your face, and sexy. I heard from others that this new version, tho they claim it's the same, has more floral notes, and smells way more synthetic. Disapointing. Also it's only available online in the UK, Spain, France, and the Netherlands. I live in Norway, so no chance to even get a hold of. I still have a 50 ml bottle left of the original which I bought in 2018. The original was highly potent, and famously known to be very strong as in projection and smell, as well as liniar. It didn't change througout the day, which I loved. Most people wouldn't wear this as an everyday fragrance back then, which I did. Tho a unisex fragrance, I think it smells better on men, than on women. As a someone who used to wear this everyday, I find it offensive when peopel call this old and vintage. It's not that old. I'm only 34, soon 35. And it was discontinued back in fall of 2019. Not long ago either. Weird, as it was one of their most popular fragrances. What really stands out to me is how they only has made this exclsuive and hard to got, even though the fragrance it self is supposed to be a permanent staple, and not limited. I guess they are seeing how it's recieved knowing it's not the same. I suspect this is because they may have not had the rights to use the actual original formula from 2005, made by Francis Kurdijan, as he's not with JPG for this one, which is a shame. I thought that when it's from a house, they have the rights, and not soley the creator of the scent it self. I may be overly sensitive, and emotional, but this perfume is my all time favorite, and holds a lot of memories for me. And if there was a dupe or something exactly the same, it wouldn't be such a bummer, but there isn't. Tho people claim Altamir is a deadringer, tho it doesn't even contain vanilla, which is like the backbone of the original JPG 2.
I'm going to pin 📌 this comment as I really enjoyed reading your thoughts and how much this fragrance means to you. Thankyou for watching and your comments
@@dantalksscentsukWow that means a lot, thanks😊 It was actually the 1st designer fragrance besides Dior Homme that I got way back then. I’m so pissed that I didn’t think it could be discontinued as if it wasn’t a thing, so I never got a 100 ml bottle, and almost used up my 50’ml bottle as I was in Japan in summer 2019, and when I came back to Norway hoping to get a new bottle, gone! I was so sad… ironically that’s when they also reformulated the Dior Homme and Intense versions as well🫣🫠💀
Its hard to comprehend why they would change the formation when the whole point was to bring back the gift to us loyal users of what we lost in the discontinuation. Maybe Francis Kurkdjian the perfumer has copyrights on the original formula? I am nervous to smell it as Guiltier 2 was my signature scent for over 10 years. It got too expensive hunting Ebay.
Yes it's a scam and a joke tbh. Why promise to bring it back in it's original form, when its now more floral and syntethic than just vanilla, amber and musk?
@@dantalksscentsukI think they discontinuing it was one of their biggest errors ever. And I don’t even buy any other Jean Paul Gaultier fragrances after they pulled this one. Don’t like them. Don’t even like their fashion so lost a customer🤣🤣🤣
Nice in-depth review. I have used the original which was fantastic. Don’t know why they discontinued. Btw you are so right about it’s similarity to fleur de male 👌
Nice video! The notes changed now on the gaultier website into the vintage notes from 2005. I think it smells like the old one. The old one is years old and the 2022 will changed over the time and will be stronger. A absolutely masterpiece! 😍
I'm sure it would be cheaper to buy straight fron jpg website. Prices of these on ebay are ridiculous now. I always look in charity shops and chemists in the UK as they sometimes have discontinued fragrances on Sale. Hope you manage to get one mate
@@dantalksscentsuk thanks for the response my friend! I've been to the JPG site and it's not on the US site, and I'm unable to access the European ones. I'm distressed! Hopefully JPG will make it happen for us in the states. Till then I'll take whatever I can get.
@praisethelord5457 I'm not sure. Maybe it's more expensive to source certain things to make perfume. It's like fleur du male aswell. Bottles are close to £100 on ebay

Thank you for this Dan! Seems like you're the first to have a look at this one on YT. 🧡
That's ace...I couldn't find any reviews of the 2022 batch. I'm intrigued to know what others think. Thanks for watching mate 👍

I fully agree with you mate couldn't have said it better. It would appear it's a different scent now which doesn't make sense.

Thankyou Sandro much appreciated mate 👍
Where can you buy this from? I can't seem to find shops that would even know about it.
I'm sure this was on sale in Spain I'll have a look for the website
Omg I have been trying to find this everywhere ? Where can I find it ??
Managed to get this straight from jpg website a while ago. It's hard tk find now maybe they've discontinued it already again 🤔
@@dantalksscentsuk already???? I don’t wanna pay $600 AUD for 1 bottle from these scalpers
