We had tons of Caribbean & Jamaicans come to the UK in the 50's & 60s as we'd lost so many men in the War. And aye they had a lot of influence in various genres leading to Two Tone Reggae Ska and others.....good times back then :)
Reggae, dub, ska played a big part in our music scene when I was growing up in the 70s/80s . Most of the punk bands I went to see in the late 70s had Jamaican artists on the same bill, Micheal Campbell aka Mikey Dread toured with The Clash, Linton kwesi Johnson was well loved artist in the UK. Everyone loved Bob and the wailers, there was a big rock against racism thing. The 80s were the most united period in my life. I'm sad to say that I believe that identity politics has taken us in a backward direction slightly.
I absolutely adore how you articulate your personal preferences of Ren's music catalog; what vibes with you, what doesn't, and why. Hold On is one of my favorites. I'm too tired to go into why. I don't know if I mentioned this yesterday, but a wonderful human, musician, and new reactor named Wynand Fourie from South Africa composed and produced a song/video for Ren hoping to lift his spirits, featuring our Renegade Choir and personal video messages wishing Ren love and healing. Ren commented that he cried when he watched it and personally thanked Wynand and all who participated. The song prompted him to write an update on his community page today. The song is titled, "Love's Healing'. I hope you'll react to it, but if not, I think you'll really appreciate listening to it. I dare you not to cry! 😢 It currently has over 39K views. Wynand woke up this morning to more than 800 new subscribers, hitting 3K. A month ago he had 52 subs. Most likely, all Renegades. Ren is the only musician he's reacting to at the moment. Well this made me smile. :) Thank you for the understanding and grace with giving my opinion. I'm glad it resonated with you on some level. I'll have to give that a listen and go check it out. That's really nice it worked out for him, and I'm sure he did a great job.
@@K8TDidToo I love all of it and the range of music that he goes thru just playing around is ridiculous... Only Ren could go thru music like that all by himself and it make sense that he sounds amazing regardless of the genre.... Lol. Don't want to give too much away in case Black Speed reads our convo, lol. Have you watched Ren doing Frank Sinatra yet???
I love this one because it reminds me that no matter what is happening, to just hold on and everything will be ok, that no matter how dark it gets, the pendulum of life will swing back towards the light eventually. Much love ✌️
Life is Funny has this vibe - and Love Music 1 to 4 - all have singing/rap mix - also Heretic n Crutch, u gotta do - and u will love 1990s for all the references and Uninvited - 4 naughty Ren. 😊❤
I love this song, definitely poetry. I did a double-take though when you said people thought you'd like it more than Wicked Ways. It might be fun for you to watch Ren's spontaneous stream jam. It's just a clip taken from one of his twitch streams, in which he decided to sing for a bit. It's unplanned, and a mix of a lot of different stuff, but it's definitely fun to watch him just jam a bit.
Haha someone did donate and said I'd like this more than Wicked Ways, but wouldn't like it more than Seven Sins. I think that person is still learning what I like haha, even if a lot of yall have probably figured it out at this point.
I agree that there is a HUGE Caribbean and Ska influence in the UK. I used to live over there for 6 years. I've seen Ren perform. He's amazing just live on the street. People would make a whole evening out of going to see Ren & Sam Tompkins! Or Ren & The Big Push. I don't think that "Hold On" is any worse or better than "Wicked Ways" they are just different. I love "Illest of Our Time" because of the last paragraph the most. I can completely relate, because think about the tattoo on my back. Although it's for "Seven Sins", it says , "I know That I want to spread these tattered wings, hold them high Banished from the heavens but I'm knocking on the sky Living with depression is a blessing in disguise Never second guessing, intuition getting wise Want to sink into the pupil of my eye Travel to the corner of my cornea and mind Look for all the answers that I never seem to find Till then, I guess I'm still the illest of our time" I can REALLY relate to it! So there are different things he deals with, same as me. Physical pain and with it usually psychological problems because the way we are treated and stigmatized for having to take an oxy & xanny 2x day. Do you think my mother treats me the same as my sisters? Nope! So at Thanksgiving I pretended I was doing so much better to get ppl off my back. Sad. 😢
Great reaction again man 👍 Hold On is one of his best old songs, the melody and the hook are fire 🔥 You have to listen to Life is funny ! This one is also an amazing one, the music video is crazy 😂 Hope to see you react to this one 🤞 Thanks 😘
Another great reaction. That's one of my favourites. I love all Ren. It's so hard to pick which one's I love more. His rap-rap ones are as amazing to me as his singing ones. I love all his styles. To me that says so much about him and his talent because I don't usually like an artist when they do more than one style. I find most can't do more than one (two at most) well. Ren does everything well. I honestly believe that he's one of the most important artists to have appeared on the scene in the last 20 yrs. Peace and love.
Thanks, Love this one and I really liked your commentary on it. ❤ Dreadin' It Podcast have been going down the Ren rabbit hole in spectacular fashion. They're Jamaican and insist Ren is as well 🤣
I always look forward to your reactions. I appreciate the honesty and thought you put into what you have to say. ❤ I love singing Ren too, and I like it when it’s a mix of styles in a song. I think I have a pretty eclectic taste in music, so it makes something in my brain happy to get tastes of multiple things in one song. 😊
For me this song reminds me of a quote from one of my favorite book series 'the most important step you can take is the next one'. Even when you're at rock bottom, just take that next step. And then the next step and the next... I really think you'd really like everybody drops, its another one from his demo's
makes me remember singing hold on by jester harrison. in high school choir. he lead a multi-choir chorus for a crowd of thousands in san jose cali. it was so awesome to be a part of.
I love your honesty bro, and I feel the same. Awesome and truthful review ❤ I love the mix of rapping and melody, or even better, when he raps in a melodic way!
Loved it❤. Penitence is the one for poetry. 💜 💚. If you want to see what Ren's motto of "A rising tide lifts all ships" looks like, check out "Love's Healing" featuring the Renegades a heartwarming song by reactor Wynand Fourie and many Renegades 💙
We all have our favourites, the world would be dull if we all liked exactly the same 😊. If pushed I’d have to say I lost my Faith is my favourite because it’s the one that gets played over and over most when I’m in the car, but very often my favourite is the one I’m listening to because I just love so many of them. I like singing Ren a lot too, but his rap is so musical I can’t choose. Great reaction as usual
Love this song. Love your reaction. The songs that I feel a visceral connection with are Seven Sins, Money Ties, Lost All Faith and Slaughter House, but I often feel a need to go back to earlier Ren as a kind of relief from the intensity. Though deep and sometimes heartbreaking, they're more gentle in delivering the message
Amen brother..... Pure Wisdom... For some reason I never put two and two together on your analysis of Fire and Hold on. I listen to both very regularly. For me it's not even Rens music that really captured my attention.... Well I take that back it caught my attention but the man, his nature and demeanor, his philosophy on heaven and hell, him believing in lifting others up that goes all the way back to his very early music that's why I stuck around..... Sound like a super fan (who in almost any other artist are people I can't stand) ironically I've become who I normally despise. But there are levels I don't think he is the best rapper of all time or worship him like a golden calf either lol. In a world full of negativity and hatred the Ren community is where I've felt the most safe to open up to strangers about certain mental health issues. Not saying that's always a good thing but I'm secure enough in my own past struggles to share my experiences in hopes that it may help someone else, and honestly with how I use to view the world never thought it would happen. Mans inhumanity to man just about had me beat till Rens community smacked me upside my head and gave me a much needed change in my own philosophy
I almost didn't make the connection and probably wouldn't have if I didn't react to them pretty close to one another. But it just seems so relevant and consistent with what he's going through now, it was hard not to. And we don't mind superfans around here haha Ren sure as hell has a lot of 'em. I respect it. :) And I can definitely understand and agree with that. It can be hard to find these communities where you not only relate to the subject matter but you can even feel welcome in the community of this skill and goodness? That's not normal. So it's not hard to see why he attracts what he does, and why you feel the way you feel.
I think it a like you said. Just hold on. Especially when you think you can’t I believe he writes the songs to himself but when he shares them with us, he’s sharing the same message to us as well.
This has such a clean beat. I feel his older music is much more “radio friendly”. It is as great song. But still, “Diazepam” has such a mellow, bluesy groove, digs deeper, closer to my soul.
See, if Taylor would incorporate drums and beats like this she would be unstoppable. A collab would be so 🔥🔥 I loved this and had never heard it before so thanks!
Definitely one of my favorites of Ren’s for all the reasons you were discussing. When I first discovered him I listened to this and Ready for you over and over and over again. They really helped me through a rough health flare. Also, I love your cup. It looks like a 90s Gymboree store. I’m really quite old out here 😂
You already know how I feel about Ready For You. SOLIDIFIED in my top 5, probably won't ever change lol. And haha, you know I'm all about my nostalgia girl!
I love this one…One of my favorites off demos album is Heretic…the video is meaningful along with the lyrics and audibly pleasing… it is on the same album as ready for you, one of your favorites ❤
You are my go to reactor, as you honestly say if you like a ren song or you don't, as I like lots, but some of his I don't, and it's great for me that you say how it is. Cool reaction definitely worth a like.
Aright mate I've been watching and enjoying your reactions to Ren for a while now. I think you would really enjoy " do you believe" by Ren. Much love from Bonnie Scotland.💙
Love this song. I truly appreciate your perspective Bradley and think you are spot on. How about some "Livingroom Poetry" soon by Trick the Fox if you want to see his crafty pen? Trick was his college band. "Meaning: is another one I love from Ren''s Trick days. I live the little "ha ha" at the end of the chorus.
I did a bit of Trick the Fox in a stream a couple or so months ago. Should check it out sometime if you haven't, someone did time stamps in the comments so you wouldn't have to search for. But I may have to listen to that sometime. :) Thanks for the nice comment, I appreciate it!
This was another one created while he was stuck in a bed-tomb and created the Freckled Angels CD to raise money to go to the infectious disease specialist who finally correctly diagnosed the Lyme disease that had ravaged his body.
Sorry it took me so long to comment. Got hit with the flu and didn’t want to half ass comment on a video I requested. So, I can totally get why you don’t like this more than “wicked ways.” Musically, I agree. His flows better and the beat on “wicked ways” is insane. But, of course, I need to say why I like this one more. “Wicked Ways,” is I’d say, about 95% flexing. Nothing wrong with that. Love it, actually. But I have to be in the mood for it. It’s more, ‘style over substance.’ “Hold On” however, still has a great flow, it’s not down beat at all, but he’s still talking that “real shit.” I can throw this on whatever mood I’m in. Still, thank you so much for reaction. Still loved it, and I just want you to know, it’s totally ok for you to be wrong😂. Joking, of course. I appreciate your opinion.
Aye, appreciate you finally gettin' on here and commenting. Sorry you didn't feel well. And I completely understand what you're saying. There are so many songs I like, but without a lot of deep substance I can kind of become numb to how good it is because it's not much there. That makes sense? So I get what you mean. This was a great song for sure, I had a lot to say about it, and it was a solid suggestion. I'm glad you liked it, thank YOU for suggesting it. :) And hahaha, haven't you heard..I'm never wrong. :)
Ren did a live remix of this song on a Twitch stream last year. It's really good. It's at the beginning of the video 'Spontaneous Stream Jam' on Hexenkind1's channel
Since you have seen many videos of ren and you want your listener’s to understand total what you means as to what you actually like…it’s a breakdown of specifically what RENs stlye of bars you like and what doesn’t tickle your fantasy.
I've actually done that in my other Ren videos before, so you should check those out. But I'll be doing a stream this weekend so if you pop in and ask, I'm happy to answer. :) It's a detailed answer ha.
Check out rens spontaneous stream jam! He's just jamming in his room with his guitar n he sings this and others like elvis etc it's brill n you will love it!
I did, it's on the channel already. :) Search it up, I'm sure you'll like it. It was part of a live stream I did. Actually doing another Big Push stream this weekend!
@@MaxwellMoore-d1u I don't know what you're going on about, and why you're choosing to be a victim and whiny, but yes there is definitely ignorance right now and it should be worked on. Let's be better in the future to understand. Enjoy the education. :)
Fire, you should if time permits do the spontaneous jam session he does. It is really good. Maybe check out dominoes it's a good heart filled song. Good day bro.
If you choose to do Ren's Spontaneous Stream Jam live from Twitch just know it's on a fanpage and not on Ren's page (at least not that I'm aware of.) The name on the yt page is #Hexenkind1 and Ren has no issue with anyone reacting to the clip. It's almost 14 minutes long and taken from a Twitch live stream that Ren did in Sept 2023 after releasing Lost All Faith (if I remember correctly) and while promoting pre-sales for the Sick Boi album. It's my favorite piece of Ren content to watch people react to cuz it's just raw - Ren, acoustic guitar and his computer while on a stream, lol!
Have you done Fred Again Mashup? I will go check. Heretic, Penitence, and Patience are some of my favorites. It’s Alright is so catchy with a beautiful video. All of Ren’s older songs are 🔥
I’m a fan of you, brainsqueez, ray, cliff, black Pegasus,at, and a lot of ppl you will get to know eventually. Break it down, you react to videos and give your honest view to. That’s what 8 like about you.
There's alot reggae influence in the UK Caribbean and Jamaican people integrated well into our culture like Sikhs Hindus and Jews unfortunately there's some let's say cultures from certain religions that hasn't. Like the USA we have a Very diverse country where most can live in harmony and we've embraced most cultures into ours and vice versa. Anyway sounds like I'm ranting I'm not getting to my point Bob Marley was much loved and an inspiration to many artists and friendship's in the UK.
I learned a lot about that influence, and I truly had no idea. It's been very interesting reading about, historically speaking. Human connection is amazing lol.
This is one of my favorites. There is a video of a portion of a twitch stream calked Spontaneous Stream Jam. In that he live retakes Hold on adding beatboxing and with acoustic. Also does a sampling of othe songs that fliat through his brain. Its about 15 minutes. You will like that one. FOR SURE

There is a huge caribean and ska influence over here in UK music, which explains why it shows up in his music a lot
We had tons of Caribbean & Jamaicans come to the UK in the 50's & 60s as we'd lost so many men in the War. And aye they had a lot of influence in various genres leading to Two Tone Reggae Ska and others.....good times back then :)
I've heard multiple experiences of UK folks hearing rap for the first time and go "huh that's a weird sounding reggae".

You are my go to reactor, as you honestly say if you like a ren song or you don't, as I like lots, but some of his I don't, and it's great for me that you say how it is. Cool reaction definitely worth a like.
That's high praise, and I really appreciate that. :) Happy to have you here!
Agree on the Caribbean vibe, love this song, TDIP guys call him Renaldo 😂 hope you do more of Rens older songs or big push ❤
Got to do love music 1,2,3,4 ✌️
Yes yes yex
Aright mate I've been watching and enjoying your reactions to Ren for a while now. I think you would really enjoy " do you believe" by Ren.
Much love from Bonnie Scotland.💙
Smooth like a punani 🤣🙃❤️
Ren has that UK Rudeboy vibe. It comes from Jamaican influence. Most Americans don't pick up on that outside of his Big Push covers, well spotted
❤❤❤
Speaking of poetry have you checked it living room poetry yet? Lol
Haha you know I haven't. :p There are 723872398 songs I still haven't yet haha. In time!
i knew you gonna love it :D (mentioned it Months ago). Your Cam liked it to, was bobbing the whole Time =P
Rofl I couldn't stop banging on the damn desk!
@@TheBlackSpeed ikr :D
@@TheBlackSpeed I remember the first Big Push stream. I was there. These are gems that are yet to be uncovered by you.
Woo hoo 🙌🎉
This was another one created while he was stuck in a bed-tomb and created the Freckled Angels CD to raise money to go to the infectious disease specialist who finally correctly diagnosed the Lyme disease that had ravaged his body.
I love this song, and for some reason, I hear Beck's "Where It's At" a bit.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥thanks
Nice thanks
I'd love to see you react to uninvited, it's just a different vibe then he normally does and it's fun to see that different side of him
Waking up at stupid o'clock has just been made easier with this reaction. Nice one ❤
Rofl that made me laugh, happy I could help.
Enjoy your interesting takes! Pressed play right away❤❤❤
Haha aww, well thank you. Happy to want to be heard and entertain. Hope you enjoyed it!
Ren did a live remix of this song on a Twitch stream last year. It's really good. It's at the beginning of the video 'Spontaneous Stream Jam' on Hexenkind1's channel

❤️🔥❤️🔥🐽🐰❤️🔥❤️🔥 Loooove this one!
❤❤
🔥
Now I have to go listen to fire again
This one is a banger
Since you have seen many videos of ren and you want your listener’s to understand total what you means as to what you actually like…it’s a breakdown of specifically what RENs stlye of bars you like and what doesn’t tickle your fantasy.
I've actually done that in my other Ren videos before, so you should check those out. But I'll be doing a stream this weekend so if you pop in and ask, I'm happy to answer. :) It's a detailed answer ha.
good eat about the ska/island style at his core. one of his major influences is Sting.
Check out rens spontaneous stream jam! He's just jamming in his room with his guitar n he sings this and others like elvis etc it's brill n you will love it!
Check out Insomnia if you haven't
I'll second that one, although that's neither rap nor singing Ren, really, more like spoken word poetry. Capital-P-Poetry, even
Well, he is an island boy! Welsh islands, but still it runs in the blood 😉
🔥🔥🔥reaction!!! Lets remember that Fire and Hold On is Ren 8y ago😉 Wicked, Castle, 7Sins, Troubles is only 1y old. 😱
The progress is Sick B😉❤️🔥
Oh I know, and I still like what I like haha. That was just what the other person said, that I'd like it more. Everyone has their tastes!
@TheBlackSpeed and i respect that a lot❤️🔥
Have you ever seen bongo bong by the big bush,!!. Must watch. , it's a banger, love your reactions. top job 👍👍👊👊
I did, it's on the channel already. :) Search it up, I'm sure you'll like it. It was part of a live stream I did. Actually doing another Big Push stream this weekend!
I'm White British, Just had an American Black Say he didn't know us Brits had so much connections to Jamaica and the Caribbean..WHAT !! .
Lmao I'm sure you got more from this than that. 🙃
@@TheBlackSpeed Yeah ignorance has no Colour.
All of Ren’s older songs are 🔥
I have, check it out on the channel by searching it up or going on my Ren playlist. :) I still have others to do so we'll get to 'em soon!
I seen your judging at RENs subs who rap. Just show us what you like. Those that like you, will still be here.
I love this song. Great reaction!
Have you gotten around to Sick Boi pt. 2, yet?
I haven't yet. It's coming as I burn through the Sick Boi album though. :) A lot of other songs above it but it'll come in time!
I’m a fan of you, brainsqueez, ray, cliff, black Pegasus,at, and a lot of ppl you will get to know eventually. Break it down, you react to videos and give your honest view to. That’s what 8 like about you.
💚✌️
Also, just for something different, you should totally do, “Crucify Your Culture” because Ren, RATM style…is pretty goddamn awesome.
👍🇺🇸🌵
Check out Rens spontaneous live jam
