Thank you. I'm a 63 year old not a grandmother and you saved me extra stress. The release button was on the side of the seat; however I was able to tighten it in a few minutes. Excellent video.
Brilliant! This is literally the first time a UA-cam DIY clip has delivered so brilliantly - simple, clear guidance and the problem fixed in 5 minutes. I feel like MacGyver now. Liked and subbed.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I know how to tighten/replace an ordinary toilet seat, but tightening my American Standard soft close seat totally perplexed me. Even had two sons-in-law look at it, and no suggestions. It was so easy once you told me about the "button" and just lifting it off. Only thing was mine had hex screws instead of Phillips, so I had to go out and buy the right tools--no biggie! This 66 yr old grandma just fixed her own toilet seat! Thank you!!
Literally just had a new downstairs bathroom fitted and within a few days the toilet seat had come loose. Could not work out how to tighten it up and was convinced that the plumbers had attached the seat prior to fitting the toilet pan so believed the whole toilet would need to be removed to fix the problem. Thank you so much for showing the easy fix!
This video has saved me today 🙌, I've had a wobbly toilet seat for months and had no idea the screws where there! Amazed and so finally happy to not be sliding around everywhere now! 🤪
Toilet seat was getting looser and looser over the last few weekend, to a point that I thought we just had to buy another toilet seat because this one is broken. Thank you for this video, fixed within 2 minutes 🙏🏽
Simple to the point explanation.! Thank you - after one year and 20 minutes (i.e. 20 minutes after viewing and implementing your video instructions) it no longer slides. Well done.
Thank you for this video!!! I was searching and searching for this specific fix! Not only is this a "soft close" but also an "easy clean" which has different tightening components than other seat covers. I did not know the cover caps come off! I always tightened from underneath...so much easier to take the caps off!! Thanks again!! 😊
Thanks very much for posting this video. Thiis video helped fix my toilet seat, which was lose for almost 5 months. Now the lid slow close also works after fixing it.
Thank you for your fantastic tip! You literally saved me £90 for a plumber's call out to fix my sliding toilet seat and it worked a treat within 5 minutes of watching this vid.
Thank you for the video. Had seat sliding for months, thought it was broken. Fixed in 2 mim after watching this. Small good tips that make our life easier ! Cheers ;)
THANKS, I just realigned the way my remodelers had set my beautiful square toilet seat on....... I never would've figured out the new style attachments without your video. THX again ~
Thank you so much for this video. I live in a rental property and have put up with a loose toilet seat for a couple of years now. I had been trying to get the Estate Agent to do it but I fixed it myself. The things you learn on You Tube 👍
Thanks, I had zero idea that it was just all hidden and revealed by pushing that centre button... I have two on mine and your instructions helped me out big time, so A BIG THANKS
Excellent little video. We have just had a new soft-close, close-coupled loo fitted and I could not for the life of me figure out how to tighten it up. We previously had one where you could tighten a wing nut from underneath, impossible on ours. Although not quite the same, once I saw that you had to remove the whole seat unit to get at the adjusters from above under a little chrome cap it was very easy to do. Thanks a lot.
I have never given feedback before, for anything but this has been so helpful. I have struggled for weeks trying to work out how to tighten a toilet seat and didn't want to force anything in case I broke it. This video is exactly what I needed and very clear. I have done the job in 5 minutes. Many many thanks
That’s it! I’ve been fighting my awesome toilet seat for a long time… trying to fix from the underside… 3 min done! I love you! ❤️ keep up the good work! Love your voice too🤪
Man, I was so confused by the rubber wet nuts & didn't realise these new toilets were top-fix. Without this it would have taken me ages. Never even wondered what the silver thing was on the seat LOL. I love UA-cam.
Thank you for this - had new bathrooms put in last year with these new toilets and I had NO idea how to get the seat off to tighten it. Now I do and it was simple to put right. Thank you so much.
Brilliant!!! I didn't know the caps came off...I have been trying to tighten the seat just by using the screws underneath but still the seat was lose. Thank you. No more flying off lol!!!
You are a God send, i have these exact toilets in my bathrooms and 1 had a loose seat. I watched your video and tightened the seat in no time. Thank you, thank you 👊🏾
Thank god for this video. There was no way my husband could get behind the toilet to tighten the loose seat and then I tried. Not a chance!!!! Then I decided to you tube it and came across your video. Problem solved in 5 minutes. Thank you
I want to reinforce Bill's comment below. I've put up with this for weeks. And for those of us who don't do these things very often some instruction is needed. Thanks so much for taking the time to share. With my inlaws coming it's one less slip and fall hazard to worry about...
Our toilet seat was like a rodeo for ages. I spent hours (several times) trying to tighten the covered screw under the seat. Finally a solution that works, thanks for your help.
Many thanks for posting this. Absolute lifesaver. So many of the other vids skip the button press (which for many seats such as mine it’s not as self-evident)…which was making me go crazy 😅
Thank you for this vid, I was so annoyed with the seat wiggling here and there and would cost me abit just to get someone to fix it. I tried it and worked!!! Thanks sir!
who would have guessed. I have had a wobbly seat for sometime now and I keep packing washers under the bolt (that is under the toilet at the other end of these posts). I had no idea those bits could open up and you could adjust them. just like in the video, it is only one side that is loose, and it is so annoying. I am now going to get this sorted properly thanks to these instructions. THANK YOU!
thanks a lot for the video, my caps had to be pride with the flat head screwdriver like you said. It took a long time to get them off. As a tip to others, it helped a lot to give knocks on the handle of the screwdriver (up and down) instead of trying to pry it up all around with only leverage force
I am in Australia and our toilet seats are slightly different .. no push button in the middle of the seat. But your video gave me a clue to fix it. Thank you.
Very helpful, thank you. Really wish I’d found this before I removed the whole fitting! Now need to scrabble around below the back of the pan to replace the rubber washer and holding nut...
I was looking for the fixings underneath, then trying to work out how to get to the hidden fixings and starting to think it was some sort of toilet witchcraft! Thank you so much. Such a simple fix (if you know how these things work).
I knew how the mechanism was meant to work, but found on my seat (which has two buttons to depress to release the seat) that the buttons didn't really release anything and the seat needed a LOT of coaxing to come free. I had to pull, and pry with a screwdriver before I finally released each side. I found that the metallic connections had become corroded and either the button mechanism or the corrosion was preventing the seat from releasing smoothly. That said, your video gave me the confidence I was doing the right thing, which I needed given how much force I was having to use. This is not the first time I've had such difficulty with releasing a seat like this. Thanks for the video though!
Steve Fuller We had similar issue , on our seat there was no button on the front .... but two little release switches on the back. Such a helpful vid :-)
I've been having this problem for a while. My toilet is different from yours but I discovered the principle is the same. You just have to find the "push-button" lock! In mine they're hidden in the design. Thanks for the fix. Now I know how it works I'll try to get a permanent solution to the problem.
Holy cow! Thank god I found this video! Was wrestling with the screws from underneath to no avail and the whole time, all I had to do was press a button.
Thank you for your video.. single mother struggling to afford to pay people in to mend. I will try this tomorrow and pray it works as we slide around iron the seat. My twins think it's a great craic and have made it worse😅 xx❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing vid I bought the replacement rubber insert things on Amazon for £6 and followed this video as by chance it’s the same seat I’ve never been so happy. Should be an EU directive that all toilet seats should be fitted with them!! 😂
Wow , brilliant brilliant video , I had to struggle before I found this video....we used to repeatedly fall of the toilet and poop went everywhere...on the floor on the walls , on my clothes ...even on my face . It was funny at first but now after a year of it we were bored of laughing . Great video very helpful ...big big thank you. Only thing was I noticed you wore gloves...ekkkk I did it bare handed : o
Literally months of the seat sliding around everywhere solved in 3 minutes - life savers thank you!
Haha my wife’s been moaning at me for weeks to sort our toilet seat but I couldnt workout how to tighten it till now. 😂
@@heathdrinks8968 Same here, and I fitted the damn thing in the first place.
Seriously me too 🤣😂👍
Same here!
Same here 😂😂😆
Mystery solved! Many thanks sir! 10 mins later, (looking for the screwdriver) had a crack at fixing this. 3 mins later, job done. Cheers!
This 63 year old grandma just fixed a very loose for some time soft-close toilet seat. Thank you so much for posting this!!

This video saved my sanity! Everyone was telling me that the whole toilet had to be removed, but I knew there had to be another way! Thanks mate!
Easy when you know how, right? Chalk It Down :)
Lollll who told you that 😂😂
@@kingdoedoedoe4406 An arsehole plumber that wanted a case o beer to sort it…

Perfect, I'm a six year experienced plumber and I didn't hiw to fix this... thanks bro, this video help me to do it.

Thanks for the feedback. Glad it helped. Chalk_It_Down :)
Thanks mate! very kind of you to take the time to document this! all sorted thanks to your video!!
Thank you so much. My plumber said we might need to remove the entire unit to fix this and I did this under 3 minutes. 🙏
Thank you so much for your instructions, I now can take a seat without wobbling, before seeing this I hadn't got a clue where to start.
thanks a lot for the video, my caps had to be pride with the flat head screwdriver like you said. It took a long time to get them off. As a tip to others, it helped a lot to give knocks on the handle of the screwdriver (up and down) instead of trying to pry it up all around with only leverage force

Brilliant, thank you, just what I needed. Nice and clear instructions, that I can (should be able to) follow myself!
