Watching this after NoClip’s documentary and interviews with Yoshida and members of the dev team is wild. I completely understand why 2.0 had relatively bland cutscenes, the company was literally almost bankrupt and didn’t have the money to shovel into Yoshida’s insane plan to reboot the game even if they wanted to, so he probably didn’t have the time or money to do mo-cap or even a full line of voice actors. Still, these are amazing (mostly) and I’m glad they’re preserved like this for people like me who just started playing. Although holy shit, I HATE Papalymo’s old voice. I’m glad the Calamity happened and forced him through puberty instantly so he doesn’t sound like that anymore.
Still blows my mind that to this day Yoshi-P has said that they can't do VA work in anything other than MSQ or else SE won't let them do more content because their money is apparently so tight. Also yeah, the voice direction for Lalafell in 1.0 was horrendous. I'm sure in Japanese the little kid voices sounded fine, but in English they're all a bunch of adults being directed to sound like children.
Thats the twisted logic of SE and many corporations viewing their successful projects not as rolemodels to follow up and care for, but as cash cows that you extract milk from for everything other than the lifestock itself. Reminds me of how often times departments or government agencies have to actively AVOID running under budget since if they are too efficient then they'll receive cuts because "well guess you didnt need all that money". What a weird reward structure in our society (we live in, i know)
Man the motion capture makes the cutscenes look so much better... Would be nice to at least have mocap in the main expansion questlines. FFXIV cutscenes are so stiff now.

WHOA! This is nostalgic. I used to play this on the PS3, then when a Realm Reborn came out on PS4 I saw a huge difference. The magic of the _CINEMATICS_ were a huge part of what made my character feel apart of a movie. I have a question or two though... Which always comes up with each expansion. Remember that opening? Where your main character talks? Well, the Midlander Hyur. Is he the Warrior of Light or just you as the player? WoL looks just like him, even sounds like him, I swear if he is then that's some Top-Tier Character Development.
Thank you for this. Me and a buddy have been doing a co-op LP of FF14 and sadly some of the story moments don't have a massive impact on us as we never played 1.0, Will without question put aside some time and watch this in the future.
Thanks for watching! :) I had the same issue as you with the story moments not having an impact so i made this video for anyone who started playing FF XIV post 1.0. So the face you liked it made my day, Thanks.
This is crazy that the warriors of darkness were characters way back in 1.0. Also it’s insane seeing minfilias backstory (or ascillas) after hearing thancred talk so much about how he failed her and he blamed himself for her father’s demise. Everything makes more sense after watching this.
I remember looking forward to the cutscenes when i was playing 1.0 and even today the modern game isn't anything as immersive with these cutscenes. its a shame.
So I'm someone who started playing ff14 relatively recently, so can someone explain why the echo seems to work so differently here? The best example of what I'm talking about is at 4:17:58. After talking with Minfilia the echo triggers and the protagonist starts seeing a vision from when she was still Ascilia, but why does Thancred acknowledge the presence of the protagonist? From what I've seen in ARR, the visions are memories and nothing more, yet this is one of several instances I've noticed in 1.0 where people treat the protag like they are actually there. So if someone could clear this up for me I'd appreciate it. As a side note, I've only finished up to the end of Stormblood so if the answer lies in Shadowbringers or Endwalker, please ignore everything I just said.
this is probably an older idea that the story team had about the echo, where it made you part of the past in your mind, in the game now it's just a vision of the past, while allowing you to know what they thought and felt at the time
Wow, it's all finally come full circle. Rosenthal was my teacher in the Machinist's Guild, And when I first played the beta of 1.0, Limsa was the only city you could choose to start. Never realized they were connected, nor that it would be so many years before I could finally fire off that gun.
Are these cutscenes from the Project Meteor Classic Server? Because that's the only way I can see the recording quality being so good and being from "1 year ago". I actually set up the server way back but then found out male miqos didn't exist. So I couldn't watch the cutscenes with my character lol.
Yea your right. I set up my own server just to watch the cutscenes. not sure how far the project has come since then, but i could barely do anything at the time.
@@EncryptedDuck that probably explains why you're female modeled character is referred to by male pronouns and the Path Companion is technically nameless and such. Because it's a private server or so?? It's interesting......
I sometimes wish we could have more mocap stuff like 1.0 I understand the limitations but my god at least our character DID things that wasn't just stock animations.
I can still remember this game when it released. I was ready to buy it but the reviews waved me away from it. I find myself wondering if I should have stilled played 1.0 when I had the chance but idk it wasn't very good according to the reviews.
Wish I could've played 1.0 no matter how bad it was I hate when i could've played through relevant story but can't especially when it a game as big as final fantasy wish they would do an event where u can unlock the ability to play through 1.0 if u wanted but I think my laptop would die
Man the fact Limsa Lominsa had this Musketeer class or something like that at the begginning kinda annoys me, since i have been sturggling on getting machinist job when you have to clear so much content before unlocking such classes
5:00:40-5:01:04-That scene is one of the creepiest in the 1.0 ffxiv, the first time you see the Ascians. I wonder which Ascian it was? Oh, I should say which Ascians, since near the end of 3.0 heavensward where you battle Lahabrea and the other Ascian they become one, it looks like that.
after some time i've been curious about ff14 and i was trying to see everything i can about it, to know the lore and stuff, how did u can have the 1.0 version of the game? just curious, i know i can't have it for many reasons, thank u for the video, keep up the good work
Might be late but thank you for this video. Just stumbled upon this while browsing. I know FFXIV 1.0 was a disaster but I hoped they incorporated at least the story before 2.0 as a sort of sidestory/prequel or viewable event content so you can look back. I like FFXIV's story and lore so this is a plus for me if they incorporate this. :D
Thanks a lot for this! Got acquainted with the story of FFXIV 1.0 reading the encyclopedia and I really wanted to see the story unfold ! I am assuming you redid the 3 possible starts from the three cities ? It is not how it is in the game right ? Was the city start also based on the class you chose?
Yeah, like with 2.0, your class determines the city you start in, as well as the intro cut scene (see a video titled "FFXIV 1 0 Ul'dah Intro" for one of the other two cities, for example).
@@gremlinn7 no in 1.0 regardless of class you can freely choose your city state, it's bound like it is in 2.0. I saw another video where a person who chose warrior basically went into Ul'dah even though the guild for said class is in Limsa, because in 1.0 Leves were what was meant to level you up for the most part. Plus in all intros shown here the person is a Gladiator, well yes it's guild is in Ul'dah the first intro shown is Limsa's, with Ul'dah's being last before the rest of the story's scenes. I'm guessing this was done on a private server or something judging by the NPCs referring to a female modeled character as "male" and the Path Companion being likely nameless in a sense. Yeah.
Can I ask how you captured these? This is fantastic, but the only way to access 1.0 nowadays is through Project Meteor, and their cutscenes end at Futures Perfect. I would love to be able to access the rest myself, if you have any help it would be greatly appreciated!
I was expecting this to have been uploaded in 2012 or something but you uploaded it in 2020? Did you really hang on to 7 hours of footage for 8 years or is this just a reupload or something?
Square always blew the budget when it came to cutscenes. The sheer number of these is kinda overboard though. Imagine if they still had to render these instead of the ingame system they use today.
Can someone please tell me if the FFXIV we have now will have cutscenes that get as good as this. I just started playing ARR and decided to watch all of 1.0 to get caught up cos Im a lore freak and the contrast between 1.0's and ARR's cutscenes is noticeably stark.
Dare I say that 7.0 might end up being an improvement on the graphics from 1.0. At least as far as lightings and environmental textures. Ahhh! I can't wait! :D (Yes, I've seen the most recent live letter and used the benchmark haha).
I feel like the start of 1.0 was handled way better than that of ARR where you arrive to town in a carriage just to run around and accept fetch-quests and get familiar with the environment for the first half an hour. That's the thing I hate the most. Makes you wonder if it was actually necessary to scrap everything instead of keeping the core essence. Those cutscenes could've all been done in 2.0.
They built 2.0 with half a team while updating and killing off 1.0 with broken assets and a horrible engine that couldn't load characters or environmental objects in towns. This looks great because square put a full development cycle into og ffxiv. 2.0 never received that they were going bankrupt making it with 13's failures and vs 13 aka 15 in development hell as well as multiple game engines being abandoned. Horrible leadership at the top of square, poor decision making from others, admitted arrogance towards the industry and the world as it was thinking only of Japan and Japan's way is the best regardless of what innovations created elsewhere. Og 14 had great cutscenes and that's literally it nothing more and it ran at about 15 to 22 frames per second. Less if other players were doing stuff... You know in a mmo. Good cutscenes horrible horrible game.
So actual question.. as someone who never played 1.0 and who only came to the new incarnation of arr and its xpacs fairly recently, can someone explain to me why 1.0 is frowned upon and why it was so "bad"? Seems like it was pretty neat, to me. Was it just poorly optimized or?
The story of XIV has always been great. However, 1.0 was not a great 'game.' It lacked a lot of the features of modern RPGs like auto attack, jumping, mounts, interactable maps, keyboard/mouse support, etc... Combat was almost turn-based slow, crafting was even more of a chore, there were no traditional classes (i.e. WHM, PLD, etc) just a selection of ARR pre-30 jobs, and there was even a fatigue system that made you earn less exp the longer you stayed logged in. A lot of this was fixed with the 1.x patch cycle (after YoshiP was brought onto the team). In fact almost all the cinematics from 4:00:00 onwards are from the patches (yes, afik there were only the starting city msqs and it's all levequests from there). Obviously this isn't everything, so I'd really recommend watching the NoClip documentary (probably in the recommended from this video).
There also wasn't a whole lot of story to start. Most of the gameplay was really supposed to revolve around the leves (hence the big deal the characters make of them at the start), this was their big idea for near-infinite quests.
Ok, looking to get back into this game after a VERY long break. Will watching this give me more of an idea of what's going on in the story of 2.0 onward, or was it completely wiped with ARR? I vaguely recall I podcast I listen to talking a while back that story beats from 1.0 are coming back in Endwalker and getting answered, so I just wanted to know before sinking 7 hours into this.
It’s referenced and explain, but we never see any of these scenes play out. But everything, especially the backstories of the scions, ties back to 1.0 in some way, and is explained. Basically 1.0 is backstory, but even as far as Bozja (Shadowbringers endgame content) is content in 1.0 referenced, explained, and expanded upon. And i know this comment is 1 year old, this is more for people like me who come after endwalker releases and get curious about 1.0
So ive noticed something no one has brought up in the replies but whenever i hear that noise, is that the visions being activated? If so its a little weird how your character is still in those “visions” cause it makes it seem like that’s happening atm
The sound design, cutscenes, lighting and graphics are better than a Realm Reborn. Wish this game was still up and you could play it before a Realm Reborn for all the people that wanted to get the full story.
It was only the cutscenes and graphics arpund the time, the gameplay and the rest of the game was crappy... The fighting mechanics were horrible and the game was quite laggy
A Realm Reborn was made under an absurd time crunch that YoshiP even says should never ever be repeated by any video game company. They were updating and patching 1.0 to keep people playing while they worked on 2.0. All the cutscenes had to be done in-engine, the writing was a first draft because there was literally no time for revision, etc.
Were there by chance any more cutscenes that led up to the end/death of 1.0? Or did it just jump from the final scene here to bahamut/meteor, etc? Thanks for recording all this by the way! I know it must've been a pain to do, but it means so much to have these archived
These were all the ones I had access to. I didn't play 1.0 when it was released so, I can't say for sure if I skipped over anything. All I can say for sure is that I played every cutscene one by one until I was done. It maybe the case where the story was told through player interactions which I wouldn't have seen.
The final cutscene played specifically right as 1.0 went offline. There's video elsewhere of players gathered at various spots, you start to see "Lost contact with the server" messages, then the cutscene plays.
I can't say I would know for sure about it myself since I didn't get into ff14 back when it was in this phase of its life, but all the lore videos I've seen have said that the story jumps from defeating Nael to Bahamut awakening, largely because everyone in-game thought defeating Nael would stop Dalamud from falling. When they realized it wouldn't, they tried one more thing, but as far as I can tell, it wasn't told through cutscenes as the story was winding down towards End of an Era and server shutdown
Well, no, not really. You have to understand that this is *just* the cutscenes, not what's leading into them. So we're not getting the actual transitions.
Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if they just had simply fixed the game instead of throwing e everything out and starting over. The only real issues it had was that it was rushed and had a couple bad mechanics. All of which could have been fixed. Back then it had a uniqueness and felt more like an evolution of XI. Whereas nowadays it's just a better version of WOW with an FF story.
I think it was for the best in the end. i never played 1.0 at the time, but when making this video i thought it was a bit clunky and i would have stopped playing there and never picked it up again. if it wasn't for A Realm Reborn, i wouldn't even care about the storyline of 1.0.
At that time Yoshida P. afraid this whole mess will taint FF series, and while he have the choice to keep fixing the game instead of remaking it into ARR, it still wont attract many players that that already dissapointed. And that haven't considering how much fixing the game needed (if i recall it's to the point better to scrap the old one and remake the game). The other reason is the gameplay pretty much bland for a MMORPG at that time. I remember I played some free to play MMO that having gameplay more dynamic than ffxiv 1.0 (i don't know the first hand experience of 1.0, but from the other video on yt this is what i feel). While those f2p MMORPG have less mechanic than 1.0 cuz they're from the same era as XI, the market demanding a more complex gameplay with a better graphic since at that time there's little to no game that can satisfy the demand tldr: dont mind me, I'm just a kid in his twenty that want to mumbling non sense
@@EncryptedDuck I was curious how you made this with your name in there since you said you never played 1.0, then I noticed you said "at the time." So! Did you make this with a private server? I've heard these kinds of things are floating around, though the playability I don't know about. Amazing work!
I bought a copy of the original game on ebay and set up my own server. The game is not playable at all in this state. I found the book that lets you re-watch cutscenes and went through them one by one, to get the majority of the story documented. This is why I'm wearing the same armour in all of the cutscenes.
Interesting how the text refers to your female character as "he". I didn't remember that they neglected to put in "he" vs. "she" text variation in 1.0.
motion capture, higher detailed character models & gear, open world systems, better textures, sorta better LoD settings at the time then what ARR has. (ARR just pops stuff in and out by draw instance where 1.0 had blurly low poly models from far away, no pop in though.) What they had was alright but it was released way too early and it clearly wasn't gonna run on PS3 and even best PC's at the time had issues running the game. If the game was given a few more years and more budget to add in more content you would of got a better experience then what ARR was released with. The game needed at least 3 years more development and SE just released it out to the public from a tough alpha build with no content. Only content the game had was levequests, class quests, msq up to lv45. No endgame content. They released it and it was ripped apart within 3 days of gaming media. Everything from 5:50:00 onward is when Yoshi P took over. Everything earlier was the release build. They recycled everything from 1.0 version into ARR to release ARR in 2 years. There was a ton of cut content not released from the 1.0 version. Areas, Dungeons, Content never was released in 1.0 or ARR. It was all gated behind invisable walls and 1.0 was shutdown and ARR basically cut out all those lost areas. The game back then had less MSQ but it was at a higher quality standard to make use of the motion capture. Less filler cutscenes and mostly got a decent cutscene before and after clearing content. Comparing both 1.0 version & ARR story. I would say 1.0 was better handled somewhat. ARR has way too much filler quests that make you backtrack to the walkingsand at least 9 times. They rewrote 1.0 story into ARR but added a ton of filler and im saying that after they cut down the ARR msq by 20%. The 1.0 story isn't that great either. It lacks interesting tasks and places for the player to explore until lv45 and this was largely cus they had no content.
@@ImmortalDraylo For A realm reborn, maybe. The animations get better with each expansion however, shadowbringers especially. Would you rather have a broken mess with beautifully animated cutscenes or an actual playable game with passable cutscenes that get better over time? I think the answer is obvious, their focus on cutscenes and graphics nearly killed the franchise as a whole, so its not really something you should blindly praise. And honestly, the cutscenes for ARR are still pretty decent looking when you remind yourself those came out in 2013.
This is my current problem with FFXIV and how many people think the story is what makes the game worth it.... It really is not when the presentation is so terrible....
How are the graphics so much better looking than arr? And same with the voice acting and fluidity and range of character movement? This is a way prettier game imo.
they decided to downgrade the amount of pixel per character model etc. due to more fluid fps. There is no motion capture anymore because they can patch cutscenes / content much more quicker into the game. But yea, i loved all of that, too in 1.0.
The absurdly inconsistent poly count is exactly why the game wouldn't run half the time. There were places _flowerpots_ were so unnecessarily detailed that the engine struggled rendering.

What a weird reward structure in our society (we live in, i know)
This type of storytelling makes the game more intimate. I wish they would have incorporated this somehow for new players.
Thanks for editing and releasing this Prequel vid to a Realm Reborn!!! I enjoyed it immensely good sir!!! I COMMEND YOU and your EFFORTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
🤣 This comment made my day. Thank you.
@@EncryptedDuck You deserve it man Thank you very much for the video!
Thank you so much for this! I'm a big fan of story and sometimes I regret getting into FF14 so late and missed part of the story.
This is like required viewing for understanding RR thank you so much
Thank you SO much for this. I am so appreciative for the existence of this. I weep that I was not around to play 1.x
Thank you very much for the upload. I've never had the chance to play original FFXIV so I enjoy this alot!
Man the motion capture makes the cutscenes look so much better... Would be nice to at least have mocap in the main expansion questlines. FFXIV cutscenes are so stiff now.
full agree, those mocaps are gorgeous.
fun fact, shadowbringers actually brought mocap work. The super expressive animation with you know who at the end of 5.3? mocap.
Thanks so much for this.. starting to play ARR.. And watching this makes it way more fun
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Papalymo and Yda were the comedic duo even in 1.0, I see... XD
03:08:00 F'lhaminn had some jumps back in the day.
Those three starshower sequences are very, very different after 5.3 and knowing who is responsible for them
Thanks for uploading this! I got into FF14 when heavensward came out and it’s cool getting to go back in time and see what happened
It's really interesting to see a bunch of NPCs I recognize
Thank you for this video! I always wish I had the opportunity at the time to play 1.0, but this is a good way to experience it at the very least :)
The catfolk have more of a chesire cat feel to them i've just watched the first two cutscenes but it's so different already from a realm reborn!
Me: You don't need to watch all the 1.0 cutscenes the 30 min summary vid is good enough
Also me: WATCH IT COWARD
Thank you so much for this! How I regret not having saved a similar record myself. So in all sincerity. Thank you. ♥
PS: Watching this after Shadowbringers might not have been the best idea. My poor heart.... T_T
😬 That's ominous, I still haven't even played Heavensward. Even though i have all the expansions I took a break after the main story and all the patch quests. Kinda scared now 😂
@@EncryptedDuck - Now now, it’s ok. Final Fantasy games will always guarantee tears and betrayals. It’s to be expected! 😅 However, they will always bring more laughter and fun! I wouldn’t want it any other way. So don’t fret please and enjoy the adventure. 😉
Thank you! I've been looking for this :)
Thanks for the comment. It took a lot of effort to get this footage for this video.
@@EncryptedDuck I believe you! Great job so far with the editing and all that. You also spent the right amount of time on text, and many scree that up. Thanks again ;)
Bit of both if you think deep enough about it. But ultimately, it's just a placeholder for your character.
Everything makes more sense after watching this.
how did you get such good quality footage? also thank you for including all 3 start stories. haven't seen any other videos do that
I remember looking forward to the cutscenes when i was playing 1.0 and even today the modern game isn't anything as immersive with these cutscenes. its a shame.
60k gil was considered a "small stipend" for a quest in 1.0? lol
*cries in 125 gil per quest*
Fun fact: When they took characters into 2.0, we only got to keep 10% of our gil. If you had 2 million, you started ARR with 200,000.
@@meiji.meiji. just get 900m gil (if that was possible then) you'd be left with a small sum of 90M
Wow those cloth textures... Can't wait for it to be implemented on the next graphic update
As a side note, I've only finished up to the end of Stormblood so if the answer lies in Shadowbringers or Endwalker, please ignore everything I just said.
this is probably an older idea that the story team had about the echo, where it made you part of the past in your mind, in the game now it's just a vision of the past, while allowing you to know what they thought and felt at the time
The Echo worked differently then.
even in a realm reborn (the only story I played yet) you use the echo to give cid his goggles, and he acts like you're here and notices you.....
Wow, it's all finally come full circle. Rosenthal was my teacher in the Machinist's Guild, And when I first played the beta of 1.0, Limsa was the only city you could choose to start. Never realized they were connected, nor that it would be so many years before I could finally fire off that gun.
after watching this it does feels like I was playing ARR as a sequel now lol
How did you set up your own server? :0
Nothing surprised me more watching this video than finding out that the Wol used to vocally talk in 1.0
I can't believe Silvertear Falls is so early in the game
God, seeing Cid without facial hair is so weird.
5:28:37 I just want to know who’s mysterious foot falls we are hearing during this entire encounter bc no one ever shows up. LMFAOO
This... this is what they took from us. In return, we've gained a million head nods
🤣
ua-cam.com/video/RkQcy3jnamY/v-deo.html
All the mocap exhausted their budget, head nods were all they had left
I still see a ton of head nods and stock emotes once you get past the initial cutscene for each origin story lmao
I sometimes wish we could have more mocap stuff like 1.0
I understand the limitations but my god at least our character DID things that wasn't just stock animations.
I can still remember this game when it released. I was ready to buy it but the reviews waved me away from it. I find myself wondering if I should have stilled played 1.0 when I had the chance but idk it wasn't very good according to the reviews.
id imagine 1.0 with ARR quality
what a sight that sadly we cant never see
Imagine ARR with 1.0's quality, you mean.
Neither of these things we'll ever see anyway, especially not with Square Enix's hold on everything.
Wish I could've played 1.0 no matter how bad it was I hate when i could've played through relevant story but can't especially when it a game as big as final fantasy wish they would do an event where u can unlock the ability to play through 1.0 if u wanted but I think my laptop would die
ty so much gonna watch all
7 hrs of cinematics. Thats quite a lot
Man the fact Limsa Lominsa had this Musketeer class or something like that at the begginning kinda annoys me, since i have been sturggling on getting machinist job when you have to clear so much content before unlocking such classes
i wish more videogames did pre-rendered cutscenes
Wow they even had proto-Cylva in the opening cinematic
Honestly I would be happy if they just made these cutscenes viewable in the game.
Limsa music is so nice
5:00:40-5:01:04-That scene is one of the creepiest in the 1.0 ffxiv, the first time you see the Ascians. I wonder which Ascian it was? Oh, I should say which Ascians, since near the end of 3.0 heavensward where you battle Lahabrea and the other Ascian they become one, it looks like that.
So glad I found this. Does this cover the entire main story before a Realm Reborn?
Yes
The thumbnail is simply beautiful 🤣

after some time i've been curious about ff14 and i was trying to see everything i can about it, to know the lore and stuff, how did u can have the 1.0 version of the game? just curious, i know i can't have it for many reasons, thank u for the video, keep up the good work
Short answer: i bought a physical copy.
@@EncryptedDuck awesome, thank u for answering me
Might be late but thank you for this video. :D
😊😊
Yeah.
Hey, i'd be interested to setup my own server and extract the cinematics by myself. Any tips on how you did?
Hey 0:37 that's the ghost guy from Shadowbringers
Can I ask how you captured these? This is fantastic, but the only way to access 1.0 nowadays is through Project Meteor, and their cutscenes end at Futures Perfect. I would love to be able to access the rest myself, if you have any help it would be greatly appreciated!
Oh good if I watch this whole video while I fish in Diadem I'll have 1/300th of my fishing mount progress
🤣
I was expecting this to have been uploaded in 2012 or something but you uploaded it in 2020? Did you really hang on to 7 hours of footage for 8 years or is this just a reupload or something?
Holy shit, 1.0 Yda's voice :D
Shouldn't there be more content between this and the end of 1.0?
Square always blew the budget when it came to cutscenes. The sheer number of these is kinda overboard though. Imagine if they still had to render these instead of the ingame system they use today.
Only thing that could make this better is if the player character was the default Hyur
@@thesagaofblitz agree
@@TheHunter_2525 Ah, thank you!
There also wasn't a whole lot of story to start. Most of the gameplay was really supposed to revolve around the leves (hence the big deal the characters make of them at the start), this was their big idea for near-infinite quests.
i dont now what it is, but those cutscenes give me Dragon Age Origin Vibes
And i know this comment is 1 year old, this is more for people like me who come after endwalker releases and get curious about 1.0
But the other cutscenes after the fight against Nael van Darnus?
i dont understand how it looks better and worse at the same time
Damn this is far more interesting plot wise, also wish i had played this. They should bring it back in some way.
So ive noticed something no one has brought up in the replies but whenever i hear that noise, is that the visions being activated? If so its a little weird how your character is still in those “visions” cause it makes it seem like that’s happening atm
Can someone explain the whooshing sound effect? Is that the echo or something?
The sound design, cutscenes, lighting and graphics are better than a Realm Reborn. Wish this game was still up and you could play it before a Realm Reborn for all the people that wanted to get the full story.
It was only the cutscenes and graphics arpund the time, the gameplay and the rest of the game was crappy... The fighting mechanics were horrible and the game was quite laggy
But yeah i agree, i wish this part of the story to be put back in the game
no dody remember the shit system name "fatigue system"
26:05 Baritone Pirate ... *snicker*. Too bad this isn't voiced.
Someone know what our path traveler companion do now ??
Didnt ff14 start that back to fantasy campaign of squenix?
And then they all died
The music transitions were absolutely aweful back then
Well, no, not really.
While those f2p MMORPG have less mechanic than 1.0 cuz they're from the same era as XI, the market demanding a more complex gameplay with a better graphic since at that time there's little to no game that can satisfy the demand
tldr: dont mind me, I'm just a kid in his twenty that want to mumbling non sense
It's probably a bug with the way i got this footage. I had to host my own server and then play the scenes one by one.
how come sometimes they refer to the character as "he"?
Say what you will about the gameplay it looked good🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why does this look so much better than 2.0 onwards!?
motion capture, higher detailed character models & gear, open world systems, better textures, sorta better LoD settings at the time then what ARR has.
It lacks interesting tasks and places for the player to explore until lv45 and this was largely cus they had no content.
why are these cutscenes better than current ff14? and people think its acceptable with static cameras and stiff animation
Because the so smooth and pretty cutscenes were accompanied with a crappy gameplay
Because they spent all their time on these cutscenes and forgot to make the game playable or have any content. It also crashed quite often.
right? I was thinking the same thing, in current XIV the characters are so stiff and move like robots.
Music was so much better! Good memories.
As good as Soken is, he's not Uematsu.
I'm glad that quite a few of the tracks from 1.x got carried over into ARR
FFXIV 1.0 was much better game what that is now
I joined FF14 after A Realm Reborn. This is a far more intense and honestly would have made a better stroy.
Fucking PS3. That's how.
it was all motion captured which was way mroe expensive, and it looking that good came at the cost of the game running really badly (sadly)
The absurdly inconsistent poly count is exactly why the game wouldn't run half the time. There were places _flowerpots_ were so unnecessarily detailed that the engine struggled rendering.
Where is the Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 German Edition? I know, Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 was in German, but, where is Video!? No exist!? Where is Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 German Edition!?😳
whenever i hear abt ff14, i always imagine it to be some low-budget cash-grab. looking at all these cutscenes and the sheer amount of EFFORT in the game makes me realize otherwise
The cutscenes were great. The problem is that the gameplay wasn't the same quality.
