Historic Theater Burns Down

The historic Empire Theater, which opened in 1945, has burned down. This isn't the theater's first fire. In 2018 the theater was the scene of multiple fires. This was the theater's worst fire to date! This time this historical movie theater has to be demolished.

Several businesses shared Sacramento's Tower Theater building. In renovating the building, there was a fire, and several businesses permanently closed. One of them was a bar that had a lot of baseball memorabilia; the previous owner having played with the Chicago Cubs and (drumroll please) the Sacramento Solons. The theater survived, but the memorabilia is no longer on public display. Too bad.

It was originally the Stockton Royal not Empire Theater that came about the same time as a stupid coffee shop
