A few things I'd like to see added/changed. #1: "Friend or Foe" tag for ships. Seriously, the Gatling and Rocket turrets drive me crazy with their non-discriminating targeting willy-nilly. It could be a signal from an antenna, a block "tagging" friendly ships, adding ships to your faction, anything! I got a couple ways to do improvise this, but it's either blinkering the guns or lowering the range os ships can be closer together. #2: (For machinima elements) Female suits, Other suits classes. People seem to misunderstand the first. I don't mean side boob, hip huggers, or anything "sexy". I mean more like Halo Reach/Halo 4, slightly shorter, slimmer arms and waist. As for suit classes, no armor or speed or maneuvering advantages, just cosmetic changes like Military, Civilian, Mining classes. #3: New guns? Some SPace Engineer found gun sound files that haven't been used yet, new small arms in the future? God forbid shoulder fired rockets or shit like that. #4: Camera blocks. For surveillance, machinima, and of course now that we got remotely guided rockets... #5: Enemy AI's: Not just meaning ships, they kinda got that already. I mean naturally spawning/spawnable enemies like aliens or simple hostile space engineers. Thank you guys, I do appreciate good ideas and healthy criticism, otherwise *gives bird* Have a nice day.
female space suits... www.polartrec.com/files/members/mark-buesing/images/img_6214.jpg oh yeah, look at this sexy slim cut. rawr. :3 In all seriousness, space suits are the same for female as for male. Space suits are not skintight o.0
Argedon That's current day technology you ass. Just look at the male model in SE. It's more like an artic suit we use today, there's actually free movement.
Ah, whenever i hear remote detonated ship, i think of that scene in Halo: Reach, when Jorge drives the small ship into the Covenant Cruiser and remotely detonates the nuke inside. That was a sad, wonderful game.
Jun is still alive its not obvious info but if you fish around you can find what your after. He was actually a recruiter for the Spartan 4 program so its still possible we will see him again.
They need to make you be able to control remote controlled systems with W,A,S,D and add a camera block, then this system would be pretty much flawless.
those remote controled missiles were pretty interesting but seemed really hard to control . I guess the cameras and remotes were not released yet when that was recorded . Never the less, you guys are pretty damn resourceful.
who said it was practical? It's just a concept and of course these missile will never bee any good no matter how we build them until we get a camera block.
As the capabilities for remote control are growing, I am confident that this style of missile will become an exceptional long-range weapon - something currently lacking given the absence of long-range optics and the great open space between adversaries.
Jonathan Becker I think its better as a stealth weapon too vulnerable for the most case. You could prepare a whole swarm of these missiles and hid them in an asteroid when the enemy comes just let them fly.
xingx355 Whats also needed is the ability to detonate the warheads manually and/or with a timer. That way you dont need to rely solely on impact to cause detonation.
A lot of innovation starts with inefficient designs. So, sure this isn't ideal in terms of design. But now a lot of people are going to boot up their games and they're going to mess with it. Maybe they'll or take away things and eventually, there will be a system in place that will function very well.
A grenade in zero g would be awesome. Imagine fighting in a disabled ship (the grab generator is destroyed) and you toss a grenade down the corridor and kill the enemy!
Alot of people would take the ship... however the active antenna would show up and that's the first thing most people would try to get rid of for various reasons.
I think the funniest booby trap would be a ship where they can't reach a control panel. Have them busy trying to find it within a larger ship and when they are deep enough inside, activate gravity generators and artificial masses to catapult the ship at max speed in a direction. By the time they get out they are lost and hundreds of miles away from anywhere with no materials to make a ship.
Using some of what Aaron has said in this video, I made a very basic, but yet effective method of conducting space station sabotage. Using a small ship, with a remotely connected "breach charge" (warheads, cockpit, antenna, reactor, landing gear, and merge block) Mounting this on a small enough, faster enough craft, I am able to place the charge, connect it to the hull of the station, disconnect from the ship, and then remotely detonate it when safely out of range. NOTE- In my testing, small ship warheads aren't very effective against armor, but large ship warheads, however harder to transport and place, are much more effective.
personally i came up with missiles that fire from a silo type deal using blast doors as fins, thank you for this idea so that i may make them more useful.
We need camera blocks. Make them act like a remote cockpit. Turning it on switches you to it's view and allows you to control whatever it's attached to as if you were in a cockpit on that ship ect. Obviously Antenna would be needed on both sender and receiver. But having remote controlled drone ships would be awesome.
LastStandGamers imagine your battleship flying through a debris field and all of a sudden, suicide drones that conect to your ship grind through your armor then extend a small piston that has some warheads on it... you could cripple someone's ship very easily like this...
or you could have an emergency booster that has its own fuel on a long range bomber... when you get near the target slow down, release the booster so you can recover it later... maybe plop a beacon on it... then return to base...
I would be screaming in terror. Buzz droids in space engineers... 0.o A capitol ship being destroyed by being grinded, then bombed from the inside. I would be scared, and unhappy. Wouldn't anyone?
Yeah. Or maybe ally myself to them, cause to scream and be terrified, you must of had a large ship, with a few toys in your sleeve. Meaning that you have or "had" a good economy to make that kind of ship. I really would not necessarily join them, cause the way they do things, may not work for my faction, so to ally with them would be a smarter choice. Also, plz do not ask for my server, it is really complicated.
Might be easier to set up a simple remote control ship that carries hellfire missiles. You aim it at the target, turn off all the landing pads/merge blocks and power up all the missiles at once. It's not pinpoint accurate but you don't put your own life at stake because the system is remote controlled.
Space Engineers works amazingly with VoiceAttack, since the new updates... Not so much as Star Citizen or Elite: Dangerous, but still handy. For those that don't know, VoiceAttack is a voice recognition software which enables the user to set up configurations which activate a key or keybind when a spoken word is recognised. 'E.g., full power to weapons' opening your power allocation display and automatically shifting power towards your weapons, if you are playing Star Citizen. This program could be used in Space Engineers to perform specific tasks, but it would only work for specific ships or if you have a similar toolbar button config for all of your ships. VoiceAttack is able to do more than this, but I only got the software yesterday and I have yet to figure out the advanced controls.
And yes, booby-trapped ships are highly effective if you accidentally trigger an enemy ship/station's self-destruct mechanism. Small ship warheads are rather shit though, you're better off using landing gear to clamp a large ship warhead inside.
Hi LSG if you attached a chair to the top of the rocket the spotter wouldn't have to chase it and before the rocket impacts you can jump out and fly off
An interesting idea would be to use the remote control system for a sort of Rally Race. You'd need about four friends and two ships with passenger seats, thrusters and gyroscopes. Two people would ride in the ships but have no control over them, while the other two would guide the ships from a station at the starting line. The passengers would have to guide their drivers to get them through a series of checkpoints to a finish line while racing against the other ship.
When you have a tool( assault rifle welder hand drill or grinder) in your characters hand and do an animation (wave thumbs up etc) your still holding the item.
I would like to see the ability to combine large and small ships. This would enable effective cluster bomb warheads. Then if we can get camera blocks and the ability to bind remotely accessed parts on the ship toolbar we could make very effective manually guided missiles.
Isn't putting your antenna on the part of your RC missile that automated turrets will engage first a terrible idea? It should be built into the side or at least covered at the front.
I think it'd be cool if they added rams to put on your ships so you could send these kinds of missiles at your enemy but they'd penetrate through further while you barrage them with ranged weapons.
I feel as though the Trojan horse ship should be more of a self destruct 'turn into smaller more defenceless ship and live to fight another day' type of ship.
Imagine a drone control seat where you can control the drone with WASD and the mouse. This could also be great with a tv in front of the seat which is showing the sight from a camera on the drone. Another good idea is that instead of sending a bomb inside a base. Why not send a camera or en EMP ship inside. This would make it easier to collect intel on the base or disable their systems so you can attack.
I just got a good idea. I'm gonna keep a warhead below my cockpit, so that if anyone ever hijacks my ship, I can detonate it, and kill them. Though I'll take out the cockpit, I'd still have the ship back, and could quickly place down another, since I'd probably have the parts on me.
the only thing i got off this video is a blast door integrity test (finally) and it looks like something i can feel comfortable lining my CIC of my ships with..... alternate comment: hey aron, you should do a battle with sage and the others involving remote controls... maybe a sort of battle bot arena on the ground... everyone builds there own, controls form there respective viewing station, and makes there own RC robots and weaponry (hammers/ grinders/ wheels/ contraptions).
IIRC, early missiles had flares on the back so that the operator had an easy visual reference for guiding them in. Could not something similar be done here, perhaps with lights or bright paint? You could also use tactics similar to those needed for Semi-Active Radar Homing missiles, flying along the missile's trajectory and maybe a 150-200m behind it to ensure impact. This assumes a 2 man gunship though. Still, this opens all kinds of new design opportunities. You could, for example, create an ICBM style silo for your base, or a VLS system for your ship. Also, my dreams of making a scaled version of a Basestar are one step closer to reality.
Hey, what about one of these missiles except expanded a bit to fit soldiers and with the pistons they can extend and grind! Other; A triangular pod that can be dispatched from large ships or dropped from small ships. It has four landing gears on the bottom and a hole to extend a grinder. Inside, it can suit about four soldiers on each side armed to the teeth and ready to invade. A pilot can extend the grinder's arm (piston) and grind an entry way for the troops. Obviously, this would work better on stations or large ships. If pressurization comes into existence with Space Engineers it would do severe damage to people without the proper equipment. It can also help breach hulls with a saboteur unit that is filled with explosives that can grind through the hull and drop explosives down the hole and blow it up. Just an idea, really.
Aaron, what are your thoughts on some sort of laser guidance in the future, and maybe drones that can be controlled from a computer in a larger base or ship?
I Think If You Set Their Faction To Hostile Then Its Red ... Otherwise I Think Neutral Or No Faction Players See Nothing ... I Also Think They Need An Antenna To See Yours Anyway .. Also Ive Never Played This So I Could Be Completely Wrong
Cereal Killer voltixD so basically to sum up what you to were saying, the three of us are in agreement and were right, this would never work, not only would it be detected but even if no one was home it would be shot out of the sky (space) by the turrets long before even reaching the base, forget going in through a window.
I really hope they add the ability to use the new buttons on remote. I would love so much to be able to go up to my hanger doors and hope out of the cockpit and have a button that just opens the hanger doors. No menu to go into just a button hehe. The possibility is endless.
***** Maybe they just got a max amount of blocks per ship/station, something like 20 ;P and max amount of ships/stations per level. Or they could just lock the fps to 1, view distance to 5 meters and map size to 100² meters xD
This is not terribly deadly without cameras, to be honest. Being able to see what it's attacking and/or guide itself to the target of choice turns the drone/cruise missile from a terror weapon and maybe a siege weapon into something useful in a real battle. Although it'd still probably be inefficient for general purpose fighting compared to the relative simplicity of rockets and guns. (Unless you combine them into a drone fighter.) EDIT: Actually, it would (seem) rather simple to make a 'drone core' block from which you could control the ship in third person from a remote control seat. Which would make it even more effective, seeing as it eliminates the weakness of the cameras, as well as being harder to hit than an exposed fighter cockpit.
But the drones will most likely get destroyed in operation by either man operated turrets or Gatling Gun or Missile Turrets. And for the drone you would need a conveyor system and all that extra stuff along with more thrusters on front and back. And if you do get it back you will have to spend time repairing. So suicide bomber is better because you can just re make them instead of having to spend time welding and adding extra torpedos.
They need to add control options for warheads. lets say you want a self destruct option for ur battle cruiser, but you dont want it to all go off the moment a warhead gets damaged from your ship fighting another ship. They need to give warheads accessible options such as timer detonation, detonate on command, proximity detonation options, and the ability to play around with impact detonation options, which is what it currently has. A useful option they could also add is the ability to hide items in the menu, that way if someone gets computer access of ur ship they wont see its full of explosives. (To re-add an item to the menu, you would need to access the item directly to re-enable its ability to be seen in the main menu for your ship) LastStandGamers opinions?
An I proved version of this would have an explosive, thrusters, gyro, camera, antenna, and a remote control. Anyone who has played unreal tournament knows what I'm getting at, the Redeemer missile that you can control in first person
With the missile hitting the station, surely the turrets would destroy it before it got close? unless you flew it in at really low speed turrets auto-target. Oh yeah, most bases dont have walls of warheads on the other side of the blast door.
They have to be working on camera blocks. All this remote control is not very useful without being able to see where you're going. Though at least in the case of missiles you could do a hybrid thruster/kinetic design where once you drop it all you have to do is kick on the rear thruster and peel off to watch it power into an enemy ship, and without the worries with grav-acceleration tumbling it.
The main thing I get from this video is, don't mess with Aaron... or your base go boom.
And don't misspell Arron's name... Or your head go boom!
HOLyP | Gaming Very honorable, and bold words, the emperor will be proud.
Kevin Blake I sure hope so. Nobody should have to live with the Emperor's wrath.
But I dont have a base...I live on my ship.

Allow me to add to this list something i've been wanting since day 1:

Funny how jun is the only one potentally still alive R.I.P. Noble
EDIT:Oh wait i forgot they don't die they just go missing in action
I still want to know what happened to Jun! The only reason i would by another halo game after 343 took over is if they explained what happened to Jun.
Jun is still alive its not obvious info but if you fish around you can find what your after.
He was actually a recruiter for the Spartan 4 program so its still possible we will see him again.
Well you're not going to do too much damage with the missile or booby-trapped ship unless their base is made out of explosive blocks like yours was.
The booby trapped ship idea wouldn't work. Any good space pilot would know to check the control panel for anything dangerous.
-Wikipedia 2077
Remove The Cockpit So That They Have To Retrieve It Via Landing Gear ... I Believe They Cant See The Ships CTRL Panel Through That
Ah, I didn't think about.
You can also rename objects and use a hidden thruster to ignite the bombs.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. You would have to know your ship inside and out though.
David Tennant That is always a recommendation ;)
Something I realise today while thinking about this at work. This could be the start to the Drone carrier.
I waited all day for a video from LSG, this is perfect to make me happy until the next video.
I think that something like this would be great for distracting an enemy ship's turrets.
They need to make you be able to control remote controlled systems with W,A,S,D and add a camera block, then this system would be pretty much flawless.
that is the problem i don't think they wan't any thing in the game to be flawess
Javon Younger Lol.... Funny.
the waving animations are so cool just the fact he waved to say hi is awesome
Ooo ship. Ok Perkins. Bring her in. Itwas so nice of that guy to gives us a ship even though we stole his stuff. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!
I like what you did with the eject-able cockpit. It would be cool to see more ideas with this.
those remote controled missiles were pretty interesting but seemed really hard to control . I guess the cameras and remotes were not released yet when that was recorded .
Never the less, you guys are pretty damn resourceful.
These missiles are horrible. They are waaay harder to use, aim and build than conventional missiles. Not only that but they have less firepower.
who said it was practical? It's just a concept and of course these missile will never bee any good no matter how we build them until we get a camera block.
As the capabilities for remote control are growing, I am confident that this style of missile will become an exceptional long-range weapon - something currently lacking given the absence of long-range optics and the great open space between adversaries.

You know what I want? More guns! Shotguns, sniper rifles, pistols, grenades, grenade launchers, RPGs would all be cool. Also, nuclear warheads...
A grenade in zero g would be awesome. Imagine fighting in a disabled ship (the grab generator is destroyed) and you toss a grenade down the corridor and kill the enemy!
LoganThe Llama oh yeah I didn't think of zero gravity, that would be epic though
I seriously doubt the enemy base will be filled with warheads though and who would take a ship floating in the middle of nowhere?
Alot of people would take the ship... however the active antenna would show up and that's the first thing most people would try to get rid of for various reasons.
What an impressive video.
I think the funniest booby trap would be a ship where they can't reach a control panel. I love the *DONK* sound it made once it hit the target
Must resist screaming first
Using some of what Aaron has said in this video, I made a very basic, but yet effective method of conducting space station sabotage.
NOTE-
In my testing, small ship warheads aren't very effective against armor, but large ship warheads, however harder to transport and place, are much more effective.
I agree with using live targets, please use space engineers in all of your targets.
personally i came up with missiles that fire from a silo type deal using blast doors as fins, thank you for this idea so that i may make them more useful.

I like the thunk the "missile" made with the target on the first launch
Anyone who keeps warheads on the back of his blast doors deserves to have his base go boom :P

laser guidance would also be really nice. Mark a target and let the thrusters and gyroscopes guide the object towards it all on its own.
pop a decoy on that missile and you can use it to confuse ship defenses
Hi LSG if you attached a chair to the top of the rocket the spotter wouldn't have to chase it and before the rocket impacts you can jump out and fly off

It's a TOW missile if anything. But guided is ok. Guided missiles are self guided. TOW missiles are remote guided by pointing to where they should go.
If the devs are watching this video, which they watch most of LSG's videos, then they will see that the community really wants camera blocks! lol
When you have a tool( assault rifle welder hand drill or grinder) in your characters hand and do an animation (wave thumbs up etc) your still holding the item.

1:15 "Missle" Nice...
I've considered making a bomb implanter torpedo. ( a remote torpedo that insert itself inside an enemy ship and synthesizing exposed warheads blocks)
we need camera block!!!
Right now this is not very practical but in the future when there is camera blocks this can be deadly
The guy at the end is like

in my mind its "To day was a good da- oh shit!"

In the dsecription you said "two of are latest developments" when it should be two of OUR latest developments lol
He seems to do that in every video, lol. 'Are' instead of 'our.'
lol
if i am correct i think that he is scottish
Nick Brendon He's definitely british ^^ and scottish people are not any more prone to mistyping or grammar errors than everyone else.
LSG'S ASSISTANTS CAN SPEAK?!
You should try remaking these things with a camera and EC block, along with everything else that you could now use
I think you should be able to fire more grav and artificial mass or stone weapons in volleys now, and from a remote source.
I think it'd be cool if they added rams to put on your ships so you could send these kinds of missiles at your enemy but they'd penetrate through further while you barrage them with ranged weapons.
You should make drones with turret concepts on them!
Also if you made this design be able to land and attach to an asteroid you could send turrets ahead of your ship to defend and or assault an area.
I feel as though the Trojan horse ship should be more of a self destruct 'turn into smaller more defenceless ship and live to fight another day' type of ship.
Something like the AGM-88 HARM Missile would be nice.
So that you can lock on to an Antenna Signal and Home on it.
So how do you pan the view? No key says so and I've not been able to find anything... IE how is he looking around the cockpit
idlike to see heat seeking missiles with this setup

I was wondering the same thing...

They should implement remote controll cockpit controll. That would make misiles truly potent.
Hey arron, sage has something he wants to talk to you about. You should total ask him. Mention dogfighting ships :P (now sage has to do it!!yes!!)
So you basically made a TOW missile?
But if you can control the explosives via antenna, then they could see the ship that's sending the signal. Right?
Just let them add camera blocks and we have everything to build a UAV :D
Antennas can remote control? Awesome! Do you have to bind the antenna to the toolbar or something? how does that work?
One step closer to grinder missiles...
Protip:
Putting this on 1.5 times speed saves time, and it's still easy to understand.
I always attached my missiles with merge blocks so they would save with the ship as a blueprint.
Amazing
What was that base built of? Warheads instead of interior blocks? ;P
Hey, what about one of these missiles except expanded a bit to fit soldiers and with the pistons they can extend and grind!

I can just imagine at 3:18 someone yelling "guns" or "rifle" haha...
6:45 that would never work, the missiles are considered small ships and would therefore be detected. Also, can't the enemy see your antenna in red?
I Think If You Set Their Faction To Hostile Then Its Red ... Otherwise I Think Neutral Or No Faction Players See Nothing ... I Also Think They Need An Antenna To See Yours Anyway .. Also Ive Never Played This So I Could Be Completely Wrong
True. If the missiles were set to infinit they would def see it specially the turrets.
Cereal Killer voltixD so basically to sum up what you to were saying, the three of us are in agreement and were right, this would never work, not only would it be detected but even if no one was home it would be shot out of the sky (space) by the turrets long before even reaching the base, forget going in through a window.
Unless that thing is part of your faction, there ain't a chance that thing is living.
when your going at 100 m/s your enemy is going to be hard pressed to do much about it before impact
I really hope they add the ability to use the new buttons on remote. I would love so much to be able to go up to my hanger doors and hope out of the cockpit and have a button that just opens the hanger doors. No menu to go into just a button hehe. The possibility is endless.
It's just a matter of time before they start making manned torpedoes
Are those cool cockpits a mod?
Yes, he covers them in recent videos
Is it bad that I want to build one of these and spray paint
pequeño amigo on the side?
The Wandering Voice. There's nothing wrong with doing that. 😃
I cant wait for this to come to xbox one
Dirty console peasant.
Its coming out in a few month

Maybe they just got a max amount of blocks per ship/station, something like 20 ;P
and max amount of ships/stations per level. Or they could just lock the fps to 1, view distance to 5 meters and map size to 100² meters xD
If you honestly believe that it will be equivalently awesome, then you don't even deserve to begin the pilgrimage to PC.
your videos say one thing
you work for nasa
I wish they would incorporate water sources and more interior decorations.
Stunt dummies...that's what you were missing, beautiful. lol
These blast doors are really tough
''Blast'' Door, yeah pretty tough.
Milenos What did you correct exactly?
English Muffin They were emphasising blast
Ramming ships may now be practical
swumprat Oh. That makes sense.
(Unless you combine them into a drone fighter.)
EDIT: Actually, it would (seem) rather simple to make a 'drone core' block from which you could control the ship in third person from a remote control seat. Which would make it even more effective, seeing as it eliminates the weakness of the cameras, as well as being harder to hit than an exposed fighter cockpit.
Do drones that will accompany you during fight and shoot weapons !!
Couldn't you just place a missile block on the front and it will provide a dot for you to help out.
That would be expensive.
No. I just mean like have the missile block somewhere inside so it provides a dot. Why would you fire it?
Well that would be a good idea. Maybe like fire 2-3 missile just before impact.
Why not just make a drone to attack in that case? because if you're going to spend so much resources why waste them on a suicide bomb?
(To re-add an item to the menu, you would need to access the item directly to re-enable its ability to be seen in the main menu for your ship) LastStandGamers opinions?
oh the days before remote controls
An I proved version of this would have an explosive, thrusters, gyro, camera, antenna, and a remote control. Anyone who has played unreal tournament knows what I'm getting at, the Redeemer missile that you can control in first person
What days dows he upload his survival series?
With the missile hitting the station, surely the turrets would destroy it before it got close? unless you flew it in at really low speed turrets auto-target.
Oh yeah, most bases dont have walls of warheads on the other side of the blast door.
They have to be working on camera blocks. All this remote control is not very useful without being able to see where you're going. Though at least in the case of missiles you could do a hybrid thruster/kinetic design where once you drop it all you have to do is kick on the rear thruster and peel off to watch it power into an enemy ship, and without the worries with grav-acceleration tumbling it.
What keys did he press to set the yaw back to 0?
Ctrl+Left click
How do you remote detonat something
Ah,The ancient wisdom.
Hey can you make a faction communication language like they use for say self destructing ships SDS or evasive menuvers EM
Who was the guy sitting on the target?
Would it be possible to make a small remote control ship with a merge block on the front, find and open merge block on an enemy ship and take control?
