Interesting what you said re surfcasting. I've spent a bit of time at Pines Beach surfcasting in the last 4 weeks and haven't seen much caught at all. The best I spoken to was 4 Kahawai over 6+ hours. Was there on Wednesday before the weather changed for 3 hours starting at the mouth and slowly moving north and didn't lose any bait. I've been using pillies and squid.
