Best show EVER. When we saw it for the first time had no idea what it was going on. Just stood in the sidelines to watch. Next trip I bought thr dinner package.. The best idea ever, expensive but worth it. 😀😀😀😀😀
i've come back to this vid hoping for a better understanding of the current fantasmic system - i camped at the rail as a child and even had experience with the fast pass system - in hopes of creating the most magical experience for a friend i'll be traveling with who has never been to a disney park before. this was so so helpful - thanks for all of your hard work and thorough investigations. it's always a pleasure to see you when i'm walking down main street :o)
Back in the 90s we would watch Fantasmic from that area adjacent to the Mark Twain Landing and old Natures Wonderland tunnel and it was like where you were over by the Explorer Canoes. You got to see the floats as they got ready to go "on stage".
Aside from Main Street Electrical Parade, I never watched the other Disney shows.. with many fans waiting for all events and parades...I'd spend time going on the rides because the lines were not long.
Gosh this show… brings me back to nights as a kid watching this show and not realizing how lucky we were. Then covid came. This video makes me feel so thankful to have Disneyland back and everyone enjoying it! Thanks Fresh Baked!!!!
Don't blame us David, you just didn't plan it right. LOL SW Celebration started at 10am so you had plenty of time to do both! We did! We just parked at Toy Story, walked across the street to the convention center then at 3 pm we walked back and took the bus from Toy Story to Disneyland! lol Oh well, next time.
The first showing is always hectic. Everyone wants to go to the first showing because families want to be able to head home afterwards. Plus with the second showing, they usually queued guests up near the mark Twain dock and then opened it up 50 mins before the 10:30 showing (or maybe 45 mins?). I just feel too rushed during the first showing. I would love to at least catch the Disneyland forever showing and then head towards the ROA for the second showing. Best of both worlds. 🤗
Theater, that's what I think is a main aspect that puts Disneyland above The Magic Kingdom in the magic department.(not that it's a contest but if you've been to both you know what I mean) I think that being in So California, the entertainment capitol of the world, they have a richer talent pool so the shows and characters are just a bit more about it, cause they're likely aspiring actors or singer, ect.
I think theatre, live entertainment, and being on the stage is really underrated at Disneyland. I mean…I have a degree with an emphasis in playwriting and I think with my degree…I see theatre so much differently. You are right. Theatre takes hold of the shows at Disneyland because of the talent pool they have for Broadway shows. 👍🏻
Can u imagine how amazing that Mickey CM must have felt?? The energy and joy at that show was so incredible, you could feel it. I know Mickey felt it too!
I've seen Fantasmic so many times in my lifetime, that we just sit at Hungry Bear and enjoy our meal while the show is going. Or, we head to other parts of the park to get on rides.
I’m going next Sunday and am getting STRESSED about how to get a good spot without having a dining package or fastpass. I’m willing to wait for a few hours, but I genuinely hope I don’t have to wait half the day in order to get a halfway decent spot. 😓
Love showing the real angles! The difficulty it can be to get a spot! The real side of shows!!! Thanks so much for all this footage it’s so helpful! I was a kid when I saw fantasmic! I don’t know what my parents did! Now when we go back I’ll know!! You’re amazing! Thanks!!!
Every video I've seen and last night Tue 5/31 the dragon is still not breathing fire! Was breathing fire removed for a reason or is this just a temporary problem?
I find it absolutely amazing at the attention to detail Disney gives even to things that are "off stage" of the show, but still technically on stage. Take a closer look at the Mark Twain as it goes by at the end. Notice anyone missing? Unless I'm blind there is no Mickey, probably because he's now back on the island.
I was always taught in training my first week as a CM…whenever you are in the field of view of guests…you are always considered onstage no matter what…it doesn’t matter if you are walking back to costuming, walking to your shift, or are coming off lunch…you are there for the guests. I can’t tell you how many times guests would have come up to me and ask about something inside the park (even if I’m not at my location). And my answer would either be a definite answer or tell them I’m not sure but I will find out for you (which I would ask an area lead for the answer if I couldn’t do it). But yes the details on being on stage (even if you are really off stage from the main show) are incredible.
Me at 19:25 yelling fresh baked! It was our first time at Disney and I've been watching you for so long it felt like seeing a celeb 😅 sorry for interrupting your sentence, though!
David, you outdid yourself! Excellent work! I really loved the footage of Fantasmic while you are walking and sitting down in front of the river’s edge! It’s so special! Also, credit goes to the entertainment CM’s before they go on stage! That was cool to see! Like you said, that is the Disney magic! It isn’t about the reservation system. It isn’t genie plus either. My only wish is that they did a little pre show 30th anniversary special because the show deserves a tribute before each show for the 30th! This show is what Disneyland is all about! The original was something that has never been done before! Who would have thought you could project movie scenes onto water? Who would have thought you could use a stage on Tom Sawyer’s island and have all the action take place center stage? The Ursula barge was something! Same with both dragons. It can only happen at Disneyland. I have more memories seeing Fantasmic than world of color because I grew up with that show! I can’t tell you how many times I got to see the show in the late 90’s and early 00’s! I really like world of color don’t get me wrong. But I don’t have that emotional connection to the show like I do with Fantasmic. Fantasmic will forever be the nighttime spectacular no one could top! Thank you, David!👍🏻🤗🤗
P.S. huge thanks to Bruce Healey, Barnette Ricci, Doug Mcintyre, and Steve Davison for their countless efforts making Fantasmic what it is today! These amazing individuals/creative minds are responsible for Fantasmic’s successful run. 😊
Watching this gave me goosebumps, yay! I will be coming back to Disneyland in two weeks, I have been going through cancer treatment with radiation and chemotherapy and will have surgery at end of June, I am so incredibly blessed to get to return and experience this magic again. Thank you thank you this made me so excited 😁😍❤️
I only watched the first 18 mins of this video but this was still probably my favorite FreshBaked video ever! I love ReCon too! I haven’t seen Fantasmic with my own eyes since like 1996 because going there on single day visits it would take up too large a chunk of time trying to save a spot. Hopefully I’ll see it sometime in the next year thanks to now knowing exactly where you’re allowed to stand thanks to this excellent video! But man I think it’s nuts how FEW spaces there are to see it without a dining package. And I can’t believe dining package seating still doesn’t guarantee you a chair! There’s no way my 68 year old parents could watch it having to sit on the ground!
I'll tell you... when you were walking around and the show started, I literally started getting emotional, I don't get emotional that often. This is probably the best nighttime spectacular that exists anywhere, I've been wanting it to come back for the longest time... now with it back I can comfortably say that Disneyland has returned to normalcy (once you get inside the park of course) only took over 2 years but hey, better late then never
Great video David! Can't wait to return this fall and watch the spectacle again. I've always said that Disney doesn't do anything half assed. It's over-the-top or they don't do it. Thanks again David!
Thanks for sharing with us😀 once again great video. Happy to watch it through your eyes. Seen it a few times in the past and will be enjoying the park instead of waiting for this production. Even with the dining package I just can’t sit that long maybe when I’m ready for a scooter 😂😂
All we were concerned about was "Did it give good dragon?" The answer: "Oh, Yes!" Love and Aloha, David and Fresh Baked! Appreciation for keeping us so well informed.
Awesome David!!!! I had already seen the show but circling back to see Fresh Baked's and your 'yeah!' at the music/mickey/water beginnings were EVERYTHING. Lol. Welcome Back Fantasmic. You. Were. Missed. FRESH BAKED!
Thx so much Dave, that felt good to see. Love the new walking path, I do, but dang they removed our favorite last-minute watching spot on the steps. Ah well, lose some, win some. Couldn’t get a dining res for June, and taking some smaller people, so we’ll wait for fall. It’ll still be there :) Hilariously John Favreau was a shadow in the background of two vlogs I watched today - yours and then the Trackers on a recent cruise stop in Jamaica. He’s everywhere!
You noted that you almost missed reserved at River Belle. What time was your dining reservation? I was worried about our River Belle reservation at 12:15 next Saturday.
Fantasmic is my absolute FAVORITE!!! I missed seeing it by a couple of weeks. 😕 If I could do anything at Disneyland, I would be Mickey in Fantasmic. What a rush that must be!!! Loved this video David! Thank you!

Hmmm. River Belle guaranteed dining package is where you sit on the patio for the show. While it’s great you are sitting the view is not the best. It’s a little skewed off the side. The rest of the dining packages are first come first served I guess. We have reservations tomorrow at 12:30. Hopefully will be able to get reservations. 10:30 definitely looks less busy than 9:00 which is par for the course.
Was that the seating for the grab and go dining package from Hungry Bear? We have it reserved for June 12. What time do you recommend heading there to sit down?

Love it! I miss the flame from Maleficent mouth. The sound effect is still there but no flame thrower.
I’ve never watched it because of all that.. it’s just too crowded for me. I’m glad I can watch your videos to see this. It’s a cool show.

For you David. For all the cast members and techs! BRILLIANT! GENIUS! ACTING!
Now I want a Halloween/Black Pearl POTC water show.
Did anybody see five fires in the background on the rail at 3:25 with the blue hat🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
So glad Fantasmc! Is back! Thank you for giving up the Star Wars celebration for us. 🥰
Dragon is looking new or at least better than ever?

Me too. 😁
Reminds me when I saw Fantasmic the first time since my dad used to work for Disney
are the night shows happening every night? when we went in 2009 the shows were only Thursday through Sunday
What I love is that even backstage Mickey is not there because he is on stage as Sorcerer Mickey! Got to love those details
Yeah, second showing is the way I go. I’ve been to some second showings where only a few hundred people were there.
The first showing is always hectic. Everyone wants to go to the first showing because families want to be able to head home afterwards.
