Very nice project. I my self just picked up a 66 Monterey 4 door with a 390 and 3 speed Merc-o-Matic Trans that has 52k on it 3 months ago. The reason I bought it was to teach the 20's and early 30's somethings a lesson when they told me and the boss that they couldn't afford a classic car. One of them went a bought a 2010 Chevy Malibu for $5400. I bet them lunch for a month that I could find a Classic that was a 1988 (the year the oldest of them was born) and spend less than $5400 and get it up to daily driver/Cars and coffee worthy condition. So then the search began.... I stumbled across the Monterey, guy wanted $1500 for it but after going to look at it I gave him $1200, Took it home cleaned it up the interior and the engine bay and changed ALL the fluids except the rear end with stuff and the next morning I slapped the plates off my car on it and took it to a local cars and coffee to show off my "next project". Most of people thought my plan was a GREAT idea. Being low mileage all it really needed was a good refreshing up, I took it to a pro detailer and paid $300 to have the interior cleaned and reconditioning of the seats, dash and door panels. I didn't rebuild the engine but it didn't need it. When I changed the oil that first night I went with 3 1/2 quarts of the cheap parts store brand oil and a 1/2 quart of Murphy's Mystery Oil and then changed it again with GOOD oil and filter after 500 miles but it looked like it had 20,000 miles on it because the Murphy's Mystery Oil clean the inside of the engine so well. Then I cleaned and rattle canned the engine block and removed, cleaned and repainted the heads and air cleaner black, the valve covers Silver. then replaced all the belts and hoses and flushed and went through the brakes and replaced the brake shoes and sand blasted and repainted the hubs black and replaced all suspension bearings and bushings. It has some wicked rust spots on the rockers and the bottom of the roof but the roof and rockers were till good, but the hood was shot so I bought a good used hood from a All FOMOCO junk yard and the all the body work has been done and i'm rolling into the paint booth this weekend. I'm painting it white but I'm painting the roof Buick Green engine paint because it was the closest paint I could find to match the light green interior, it doesn't have to be an EXACT match to me just close and Buick Green is close enough, total invested $4756 (kept every receipt) and that includes a gallon of white paint (bought a gallon of miss-tinted white from the paint shop for $50) and a pint of Buick Green engine paint for the roof. I haven't given them any prices or everything that I've done but have seen the progress on the car and think I'm WAY over and are guessing I've spent anywhere between 12-15k and I'm right about a 1/3 of that. I just wanted to prove that you COULD still find a "cool classic car" that you can make into a for less than you can find a newer used car. While I will admit it's not a 57 Bel-Aire, a 69 Mustang GT or a 71 Challenger it's still a really cool classic car that is more than worthy of daily driving and taking to cars and coffee's and local car shows.

That is nice to see, you have put a lot of work into it. You are going to stand out in the sea of black and silver Japanese economy cars.
As for colour, a pearl white or blue with some flake.
