  • I decide to have the ultimate free tourist day out in Rotorua.
We start with a ride up Rainbow mountain just south of Rotorua in New Zealand. This has an epic downhill mountain bike track that ends and a thermal river called kerosene creek. We have a hot swim and enjoy the thermal attractions of Rotorua.

Years ago I had a brake fire on a semi trailer when a pin broke nd aloowed the brake shoes to move around and get ground up setting fire to the brake fluid that leaked out. Was interesting driving down the road looking in the truck mirror and seeing flames coming out of the rim. Everytime you put your foot on the brake it pumped out more fluid to feed the fire

Must admit flames coming out the side is always disconcerting. Thanks for sharing your story.

Hey Lance. On those slippery, techy steep climbs, try dropping your saddle and change gear to 3rd from top. Can be good way of managing those climbs you think you might stall out and or slip around on. Little easier to balance sat down with seat lower. Lower tire pressure helps as well. My goto for Arapuke clay night riding tech climbs in the winter 😊

How did the fire start. I presume locked on brakes. But you missed that bit out.

Good evening Lance ,, if you turn the kiox mount around you can mount the display over the stem keeping it a little safer,,,,,

I have looked at different positions. I plan to remove it altogether and use the new purion controller.

How long rough, would it take to walk up?

Maybe 30 to 40 min. My wife ran up and beat us up there. She did have a head start though.

Did you sell your soul to the weather gods? I swear you get clear skies everywhere you go.

After constantly complaining about the weather for the last few years, we have had a good run this summer. Does help not being in Auckland for most of it.

Nice trails Lance. I have to say though, that your video editing skills seem to leave a bit to be desired. You seem to always miss those bits that you're meant to edit out, in, and then you edit out the key bit about the caravan fire i.e what started it. PS: wonder what is depicted in that ancient rock art at 20:07

Yes, I get easily confused when editing. I think the ancient rock art depicts some sweet potatoes and a kumara.

I'm glad I didn't miss out anything. I can be forgetful at times.

Very super exciting video Lance this was one of my favourite rides back years ago. It definitely hasn’t changed much. The views from top of there are amazing. Have they put in a changing room yet in Kerosine creek. Keep up the amazing content always looking forward to watching your next video
