Would you recommend this ski for a lower intermediate skier who spends 70% on-piste and 30% off-piste? Mainly ski in Idaho 15-20 days a year. How would this stack up against Elan Ripstick 96 and Salomon QST?
It's more flexible and playful than the QST, but isn't quite as precise as the Ripstick. If you're more of a creative skier who focuses on creativity, the Origin is wonderful. The easy answer here is the QST--it's such an easy ski to use in a variety of turn shapes and styles.
Would you recommend 96 or the 101 origin for East Coast with all the crud and mix that’s usually there? And would you recommend/prefer this or the Blade Optic 96 instead as an everyday ski?
I think the 96 makes more sense for an Eastern daily. Personally, I think I'd lean to the Blade Optic because of the dampness and edge grip. Nothing against the Origin--that ski is wonderful in bumps and trees, but we do spend more time on the groomers here in VT, and that necessitates a slightly sturdier ski when it comes to firm snow, and I think the Line has a bit of an edge here.
I think I 100% agree with your response. I like the Blade Optic 96 very much. Just has the right amount of stiffness and torsional stiffness for the East Coast firmer conditions. It holds the edge really well in firm snow. Thank you.@@SkiEssentials
Yes, once they moved to the VMT 1.0 core I believe in 2022, then it has stayed the same. This might cross over with 2021, so 2020 is a safer bet to say when they changed.

Is there any difference in the build of the ski between the 2021-2024 models?
