Like any other Bengalis, the Summer vacation is a special favorite moment for me. I used to go out with my family every year at this time. So this time too I suddenly planned to go somewhere with my family. So this time the video is a family tour in Sikkim.
We travelled to New Jalpaiguri (NJP) from Kharagpur (KGP) in the Sleeper Class coaches of 22511 Karmabhoomi Express, which was running late by 3hrs. It was a pathetic experience for all of us.
Later we reached New Jalpaiguri (NJP) from where we started our journey to Gangtok, Sikkim. This is the first Part of Sikkim Series which is going to cover the Train Journey and how we reached Gangtok. For more details of Sikkim Tour, Stay tuned.

HOW TO REACH THIS PLACE
Sikkim can be reached by Train from any Major Stations of India via Siliguri or New Jalpaiguri. from where you have to take a car or bus to reach the capital of Sikkim, the Gangtok. It is almost 120 Km from New Jalpaiguri which used to take around 5 Hrs by road.
One may also take flight upto Bagdogra and the rest will be same. But if you take a flight upto Pakyong, it will reduce the time by 1/4 th times.
We took a Car from Samir Karki - [phone] which costed us ₹6500/- only. You may take share cab or Bus from Siliguri SNT Bus Stand. These two will be the cheapest option to travel.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
The best time to visit Sikkim is either between March and May or October and mid-December.
PLACE OF INTEREST
One may visit Coronation Bridge at Sevoke on the way to Gangtok. One may also do some water sport activities at Teesta River especially the Rafting.

So many Hotels and Hostels are available at Gangtok. Some of the hotels/hostels are given below for references -

We had our reservation at 3AC of Hamsafar Express but the train was cancelled due to Assam Flood. It caused us to go for another train Karmabhoomi Express. Due to the peak season, we couldn't get any reservation on 2AC or 3AC except SL class. It was the worst experience we had ever met. Indian Railway must do something for general passengers for improving their journey experience. #irctc #RailMinIndia #RailwaySeva
