- It wasn't the father, warrior, smith, or stranger... It wasn't a nobleman or a king... It wasn't azor ahai or the prince who was promised... It was a young boy named Wylis who held the door against the entire army of wights & white walkers.
I AM FUCKING GUTTED. RIP HODOR :(

THANKS FOR WATCHING!!! :D
No matter how manly you can be: Hodor's death will kill your soul.
Krash face not kill it... cure it.
it will fuck you UP
Agreed
Started GOT last week. Can’t remember the last time I cried until seeing this episode today 😂
Still remember watching that episode. Cried like friggin baby. Don’t think i’ll ever watch it again.
This is an absolutely beautiful scene.. It was also the scene that made me feel like a dirty scumbag when I watched this.. The whole time I was thinking what a joke and how stupid hodor was.. He was insignificant in the story to me.. He was still a very likable character and I even liked making fun of the dumb oaf.. I know it's a fictional story but it made me realize how sad it would be to go through your entire life being laughed at and looked down upon and even then no one will ever know the noble sacrifice he made. Hats off to all the hodor's out there.
All of us cripples, bastards, and broken things know that struggle in a way. I always rooted for Bran and his band of brave misfits. They’re the most underestimated in the entire series.
HOLD THE DOOR
@@Saaranshhh 😭
so your saying that "dumb people" are useless?
as person who has an Aunt who suffers from seizures, Hodor's death reminds of that and it hurts more. But I not a person who turns away. it just reminds of how much I love them.
that sucks man, i'm sorry for your aunts struggles bro. Hodor's death scene gutted me too, I saw so many reactions that mirrored my experience I had to make a compilation lol
It’s amazing how a fictional character can elicit such strong emotions. Thanks Hodor.
rewatching this 2 years later is still devastating, i have not ugly cried in the longest my dudes
You can tell you've created a good character when you can elicit emotion like this.
He was My fav cause he was like a Little puppy so gentle nice and caring a dummy but so loyal when she Said hold the door i knew emidiatly why he kept saying that and i was just laying and crying for like an hour straight
no matter how many times I watched it, still gets me teared
Most accurate reaction at the end. Silence.
My wife and I watched the credits roll in absolute silence.
Almost 4 years and a shitty finale later that scene STILL makes me cry like a child!
Everyone cried for one side character. That's where writing can get you. It comes before you sense and tear your heart apart before you can understand.
when we didn't know hodor's story yet and laughed and thought he was cute and when we found out that hodor means hold the door and his whole life was his destiny to protect the king, it broke my heart when we found out the true story of his life determination hodor
The only reaction when the credits come along... Silence !!
Men had to wipe real ass tears for Hodor 💕🥺 my eyes all puffed up now smh 🤦🏾♀️
Yes still the saddest death in the history of GOT. 🥺
Looks like this episode got one big universal reaction! great video!!! We would love to be part of your next compilation! Just drop us a line! #knightsoftheDrunkWatch
thanks! love your groups reaction would be great to use (:
Hodor. One job. Fucking nailed it.
His nickname was the last thing he did.
Some heroes just hold the door.
Reading all these comments, were there really people who made fun of Hodors character 🙈
The guy with the superman tshirt is meme-worthy
Gods, the writing was strong back then!
I cry every time i watch his death
So in the beginning of the clip they're showing reactions of Arya killing the NK and people are seriously asking and saying that Arya had/used a dragon glass dagger?? Where the fuck have you people been?? Cats paw dagger. Valerian steel. Have you not been watching the show?? Littlefinger would be rolling over in his grave if he heard that! I mean WTF. Seriously. Throw them people out the moon door ASAP
F*** D&D.. Did he hold the door for nothing???! SMH
He held that damn door!
But he is a white walker now!
An unsung hero, misunderstood until their final sacrifice.
He didn't just give his life in death...he gave his whole life...
What an amazing piece of writing...brought nations to tears...
Absolutely and well said 🥲
Me- I never cry.
Hodor - Hold my door.
LMMFAO
This comment xD Nothing better than LMAO after a tearing up hahaha
Wtf, this still made me laugh and cry
damn this joke just hits different
Hodors Death. The only way to make fullgrown men cry like a baby.
And that's okay
The only worthy death in this show. everybody else dies because of circumstance or pride or something stupid, Hodor was the only one dying to protect someone he cared about
Jorah's death would fit that category aswell, although the actual scene wasn't as emotional. Season 8 ain't canon anyway.
No, what makes this one unique is that the person he loves mind-controlled him to die, and the horror of it disabled Hodor for the majority of his life.
@@lorpsandorps3729 I wonder if Bran really died that day and became the three eyed Raven, or that the horror of what he has done simply caused him to pretend Bran was dead.
what do you call the children of the forest with the grenade like 2 mins prior
Hodor, Theon, Ned, Cat and Rob... The holy pentagon of GoT deaths. All others were enjoyable to watch
Not all heroes hold weapons. They hold the door
Just saw this comment. You need to put this on a T-shirt asap, if you haven't already.
Hell yes
@@keptinkrunchactual i agree
@@zenitsuagatsuma468 wait, I didn’t get it. Care if you would explain it to me?
thats a shitty ass quote
I remember after watching this i need to watched Joefrey’s death scene to make me feel better 😔😭🙏🏼
😂😂
or ramsay’s
@@tinkersz no. ramsay death was not worth it, the dog may ripped him out straightly to the head and die soon. sansa should kill him slowly by give the legs first alive to the dog while it still one piece in body. one per one day. first the legs, then the hands then all his body to the head.
@@1mUn9 yeah but Sansa isn't shit like Ramsay
Best comment so far
Why do I torture myself rewatching these scenes and these reactions time and time again? ●~●
'Cause we enjoy suffering.
No death in TV has made you feel bad not just for the death but that we made fun of the character the whole time for something that we only learned to appreciate during their final moment.
Jorah died protecting his queen
@@RavensTheNextDynasty uh
who else watches this and cries
anyone with a soul
luis cervantes Me still!!
luis cervantes there were only two moments in got that made me cry. Sadly this isn’t one
Everytime, everytime...
@@BillyBob-nq7wz I guess I don't have a soul. Neat.
5 years later and this is still heartbreaking.
Sure is. I just finished the episode now (3rd entire rerun of the entire series) and although I know it’s coming….
Still brutally knocks me
The realization on their faces when the connect "hold the door" and "Hodor" is just so satisfying to watch
I know this is a 2yr old comment. But, I literally was like "damn, that's some well written, circular story telling right there."
Literally a character given purpose for 1 specific event which that event was also the spawning of his characters purpose. Well crafted.
Genius writing to carry that connection for so long.
Not one of these people freaked out when the "hold the door" transitioned to "hodor." this scene broke my brain with that revelation, that hodors whole life had been bulding up to this moment. And its right under our noses the whole scene but I didnt notice until the direct verbal transition. The revelation hit me harder than the actual death.
I think they didn't freak out because they had made that connection before the actual transition occurs. It becomes more and more obvious until it's right in your face.
I was a little shocked about this myself.
Scenes like this that make me angry about the last season and how rushed it felt story wise.
Totally. Had to see it again and while watching it I thought how where they able to pull this off in such a perfect way and absolutely destroying everything they have done before by that horrible last season. I don't even recognize some characters in season 8. Season 7 had a lot of weak stuff too but 8 is just straight up trash.
@@dragonhunterx5929 ik right. I was waiting for Jon Snow to have a dragon (Viserion) breath fire on him and it be revelealed he is a Targaryen / dragon too like Dany. Idk what the book says or anyone really but damn Jon snow having a dragon test him of being a true Targaryen would have been a cool way to reveal his secret and have him be recognized.
I think the reason why we all get sad at this scene is because the entire time in the previous seasons we've treated Hodor as the funny side character or the innocent buffoon who can do no wrong. Fans talked about him being the one left standing cuz there could be no way he had any real significance to the overall plot and therefore had no reason to get killed off. And then this scene happens and all of a sudden his destiny is realised as is the reason why he kept saying the one word the whole time.
Then when we see him heroically sacrificing himself to save his friends, we realise that the one innocent character that we held onto for a quick laugh now and then is gone. Killed because the situation in the show just got darker.
It reminds me of Dobby's death in Harry Potter. That even the sweat and innocent fool has to pay a price for a higher cause.
truth
Why do I put myself through this?
Because the most tragic things are also the most beautiful.
Hodor was such a pure character, all kindness. That's why his death (apart from the revelation) is so hard.
So true
This scene was sad and I cried, but it was also one of the most amazing storylines I’ve ever seen in tv. It bends time in a fascinating way and it gives Hodors character so much depth. I think people thought that Bran did that to him, but I think that Hodor had had the seizure long before Bran was born and Bran was witnessing history. It was his fate to be in that moment in that time. His entire life and destiny in that world led up to the moment that he saved Bran, so much so that he only said the word “Hodor”, a lifelong homage to his ultimate purpose and sacrifice.
HE HELD THAT DAMN DOOR!
Not ment as a joke, but he really was a man of his words and I think he knew all the time, in a way, what will happen.
Yeah. And what if he didn't? All his life he just said one word and he didn't know why. He's just a victim. But then again, both are just tragic af
Of course he knew. He experienced his own death, and it broke his brain.
@@astherine Did you watch the show? He knew because he saw the vision of the future. That's what was happening when he had the epileptic fit/seizure.
fantastic!! the dead silence in the end of all the videos, devastating :(
thanks g! i had a really similar reaction to you, i had to sub and use your reaction. this is my first video and i really appreciate all the youtubers being so cool about using clips of their reactions! (:
Hodor Azor Ahai. Hodor, first of his name! Protector of the realm!
👑
You know a show is good when it can elicit so much raw emotion in people .
Bran: The true villain in GOT.
STFU
And he did become king in the end!!
Damn I wish the last season showed us Bran being the master mind for it all. He built the wall, he met with Aegon the conqueror. He agreed to be steward. All of it.
Would have blown our minds!!
@@PowertoProtectYourPeace If only they would've shown him doing SOMETHING lol
I think that's the issue with characters who are all knowing/seeing.. they become boring because they can literally do anything & they know everything, so they could technically solve all of the issues, but then there'd be no story lol
2 types of people watching GoT. Criers and liars.
Great video, made med tear up like a baby all over again. Rest in peace you sweet prince :'(
thanks bro! i know man, absolutely gutted me RIP hodor :(
The most comedic character turned out to be the most tragic. Someone we thought we were laughing with turned out to be someone whose life was destroyed and we mocked him for it. The collective grief here is for us mocking him, when really he was a tragic hero who finally is getting the acclaim he deserves. The entire purpose of his life was to hold the door, and he is a hero for doing so!
This was my initial reaction to the scene.
No, no, no, no, no, no, NO, NO, in an infinite expanse of NOs from the Dimension of "NO" with a statue dedicated to their great creator, the God of NO, who wept tears of NO that filled the oceans with NO and brought about billions of creatures who were NO!
Thats alot of no's
@@ayiogojo5642 no
Why? Without this scene, Hodor's life makes no sense. It's sad that he dies, but the scene is deeply fulfilling. It means he succeeded.
@@abarkett I was saying "no" because I couldn't believe he was killed off like that.
For me, THIS was worse than The Red Wedding
@@ayiogojo5642 Borrowed the line from one of Linkara's reviews
The amount of grief I experienced in that scene was just crazy. I always felt pity for Hodor and wondered how he came about that word. I'll never forget that day I watched it for the first time. I wasn't myself for a few days after.
Girls: Crying like their best friend just died.
Me (a 6'5" manly man): Blubbering like an 8 year old
You're a legend!
No man can control their emotions when they see a guy finish a duty by his whole life , no matter how manly you are .
Isnt it wonderful to see who people from all over the world react quite in the same way to Hodors death? Ok, some people are watching the show just for boobs and violence.
I’m still crying rewatching the episode 😢
This scene taught me never judge a persons character based on there condition. An everything happens for a reason.
He had one job
And he nailed it
i came to enjoy all the tears....yes, fresh meat.
Doesn't matter how tough you think you are, this scene will break you. Even now, years on, I can't watch it without crying...
Whenever I come back and watch these reactions, it breaks my heart to think how badly written and paced the final 2 seasons were. Could have been the greatest series ever made
I cried every time when I heard “hold the door”
51 years old and i still cry
I juts started watching GOT close to 2 weeks ago been binging it non stop. Just finished this episode and had to come here to feel better about myself for being a grown man balling my eyes out..
the best compilation to the most gut wrenching episode this series put us through.
Man this part makes me crying a lot...Game of Thrones it's increasingly difficult to see, cause each episode is a surprise for us..... 😢
definitely! every season is better than the last, i can't imagine what season 7 is going to be like!
LITERALLY every persons reaction is the same. The Hodor heard round the world
2020 and I'm crying even harder 😭
GoT... never ceases to ruin so many people's week at a time at a singular point in time.
I never watch entire GOT, and this month i doing marathon watch from season 1, but this scene hit me hard 😣😭
dude i cry along with all of them up until 7:00 focusing on the girl in the black chair, and 7:06 when she smacks her friend.... bro i started crying again but from laughter and i reply it like 20 times and i cannot stop laughing
These reactions speak volumes to the power of this scene...
One of the best scenes ever
I wonder if Bran really died that day and became the three eyed Raven, or that the horror of what he has done simply caused him to pretend Bran was dead.
This was one of the-if not-BEST, episodes of the series before it went to complete shit. Of course GRRM had written this plot so it made all the sense.
This style of reaction compilation is the best.
10 min de tortura ;(
Jalajakajaja
I just cried the whole duration of the video. I loved Hodor so much I named one of my dog Hodor and he also passed unexpectedly at a young age due to a heart condition. And the music…
The guy in the corner @6:35 is me alot of times throughout this series...
I weep like todler everytime i see this scene even i'm in my late tirty bearded big man. FKN masterpiece!!!!
The last time GOT made me cry because the story was so good…. as opposed to being so bad….
All the sacrifices made for Bran. And he shows no sympathy. He's going to rule the 6 kingdoms? He's Trump.
Really well done!
thanks! loved your reaction!
When you realise how he became hodor, that shit kills you inside.
You can always tell the sociopath of the group. Not crying or smiling at the wrong parts. Hahaha.
EVERYTIME....I cry, ..hands down, one of the best scenes.
I think why this is one of the most powerful scenes ever is due to the timing. 6 and a 1/2 seasons invested over years, and it was starting to seem that the horror would never end. At this point in the series there were so many questions, and no clear winner. We knew going in, that anyone could die at any given time, but you always hoped the nice characters would somehow survive, knowing deep down they probably would not. The writing was incredible to this point, and Hold the Door becoming Hodor was genius. The best ending to any of the episodes in the series.
Not all heroes wear capes...some just hold the door
Shows the power of sad violin music. As soon as that came on, the tears started flowing
@9:33 i know that feel bro
The scene hit me so hard I'll never forget it!!!!
I was super late to the party when I first started on GOT, so I saw it by myself. Watching this compilation makes me wish I had watched it in a group like most of these people did, specially with this episode being so gut-wrenching, It would have been way better sharing such an emotional experience with other people. Though I have to say, that one chick that was sitting to the right of her 2 friends @1:30, @5:52 and @8:50 had the same, indifferent/blank stare on her face in all three of the video clips... 🤨🙄
I hate watching this knowing how big a load of crap all of Season 8 is.
One of the best scenes in the entire show for sure! So emotional in the heroic death of a loveable character that we all knew and loved and grew a little with together. By far the most unbelievable twist and one of the best if not the best scene in the whole show. Scenes like these proves once again how amazing GOT really was as a show. Disappointing that D&D had to rush the series. We could've easily had 2 or 3 more seasons or more.
I didn't cry when I saw it but I did when I saw people's reactions
i just wanted this episode for the first time. The dents in my skin left from my nails as i'm trying so hard to not cry are slowing fading. Dame the ending of this episode was so touching. I bawled so hard. I had to come see if others felt how i felt. My reaction mirrors the people in this well done compilation.
