You're on Oregon's 28 with only 34 seconds left in the game well within range of a winning field goal. All Ohio St. had to do was what everyone expect them to do and run the ball up the middle forcing Oregon to start burning their time outs. If all went well, Oregon used up their time outs, OS possibly moved the ball up a few more yards closer to kick the winning FG. This would have left maybe 12 to 14 seconds on the clock for Oregon with no time outs left. Instead you call up passing play, risking a number of negitive scenarios such as QB sack, holding penelty, clock stopping incomplete pass allowing Oregon to preserve time outs, interception, and offense pass interference, etc. Despite all the other reasons people come up with for losing the game, OS managed to overcome and was in position to win the game when it matter, but failed due to poor coach play calling. Well done, way to pull defeat out of the jaws of victory.

Callers to the local radio show are all very complimentary of the OSU fans they met, before, during and after the game. I know it had to be gut-wrenching because of the way the game ended. Before this game I thought there were two legit powerhouses in college football - Texas and OSU and I wasn't sure about OSU because Toledo would have been 4-1 playing OSU's schedule. It turns out that Texas is the only legit powerhouse and that there are 4 or 5 second tier teams.
