It’s such a good idea to save money for bargains like that. Being frugal doesn’t mean spending nothing. It means making your money go as far as it can to get what you need, which is what you’ve done here. I love the way you prioritise healthy food and your supplements.
😊 scored again! Yes supplements are so expensive. It is 1.45 am here in Australia and I have just been woken up by a huge thunder storm. It gets so stinking hot here, that I can leave a coffee cup in the car in the morning and it is still hot and drinkable when I get in the car at 5. We have been getting advice that fruit and vegetables are in short supply 😮 no reason really. This means that the food bank is empty 😢😢. But I blanched heaps of produce last year and put it in plastic freezer bags😂😂. I made up layers of cooked capsicum, mushroom and onion, then blanched wombuk and bok choy, finished with broccoli. Awesome idea. I threw a defrosted bag in a pot, chucked in left over chicken and potato, then stock, barley and parsley with a blob of butter to finish EASY and healthy. Cost next to nothing too. I was planning on putting a granny flat out the back in a few years but the company just went broke!! We have so many building companies collapsing in Australia over the past year, particularly fixed price businesses. Inflation is a killer. What I have noticed is all the home brand is gone. All the specials, gone. And anything that has bonus points at woolworths, gone. 😮😮 David Jones department store announced yesterday that lipstick sales have gone up. This is not good apparently. It means women stop buying clothes and update their makeup instead 😂😂 So lipstick is the barometer of the economy. It was worn in WW2 as a sign of defiance (red) by the women and to boost morale for the forces. Covid masks must have hit the industry hard. Maybe it is all those politicians buying it up, trying to put lipstick on a pig!!😂😂 Belinda
We are lucky enough to have an IKEA near us. We make use of their family card and have free tea and coffee Mon to Fri. But today on a Friday till the end of August they are doing half price food in the restaurant. My husband had fish and chips I had a salmon fillet with dill sauce and mixed grains. It came to £7.05. We also had 2 free coffees each. The offer is on all day till 7.30 in the night. Just thought I'd let people know if they are near an IKEA. Also children can have pasta and a drink for 45p, incredible.
I have always looked in the marked down basket at my local supermarket and often bought groceries there at a good price, BUT NOW even the goods marked down or on special are expensive.
Hi Jill, My husband bought gas ⛽️ 3.29/gallon on February 29th. He had a receipt from the end of January and it was $2.89/gallon. Up 50 cents in a month. We are still seeing shelves a little low still. My Mother gave me her button box 25 years ago. She still had buttons from when I was in gradeschool, in the 1950's. Take care of yourself ❤Peggy❤
I just love the peace and simplicity of your life. I dont need to save money, but I still try to just buy what I need, but I am on a weight gain meal plan just now so am not supposed to miss any meals. I do see a lot of great meal ideas from you.
You did really well with the serum. I get an email from H&B every Sunday with an offer. Decided yesterday to go online and check the offers. Some were buy 1 get 1 free, others were buy 2 get 3rd free. Offer i used was spend €35 get 20% off. Was a bit naughty as the spend was more a want than a need. Still pleased with purchase. Over the last 3 weeks i only spent €11.23 on groceries instead of €105 i allow. So i'm still ahead. Some times its a struggle being good. 😂 😅
Hello, yes I do notice the shelves are more empty, particularly veg. I did hear there may be a tea shortage! That is bad news for me as I’m a real tea Jenny lol
I shopped at Sainsbury’s today, definitely had lots of gaps in the store. Tea was empty, no crumpets, biscuits looked raided and only 4 tins of Stamford street baked beans on the shelf. Hundreds of branded beans! Petrol had increased again . I thought inflation and prices were coming down. Plus the store was absolutely freezing 🥶 it’s been cold for months, apparently the heating broke months ago.
Great bargains , Jill ... prices continue to climb here in Ohio. A dozen eggs just went up to $2.68 from last week's price of $1.89 and that's at Aldi ! Gasoline is also starting to rise ... $3.49 a gallon from $2.99 last week! Haven't noticed any shortages , however! Have a lovely weekend !
Good savings at Holland and Barrett. Sainsbury's here in the South East are very limited on what they have on the shelves, according to one of their Manager's it's supply issues. !! Have a good weekend Jill. 🌿🐁🐿
Hi Jill. I found your channel last week and have been working my way through your content. All the food you manage to buy for 10p astounds me! We don’t have markdown prices anywhere near that good where I live in Australia. I was wondering though, how much you throw out and if any of it is already spoiled when you buy it? eg moldy fruit, soggy brown lettuce.
I’m careful to have a good look before I buy it. I did get to the checkout a couple of weeks ago and said I didn’t want the mixed salad as it was passed its best. I usually eat everything even if I eat it same thing in a day …for 10p it’s worth it. 😁
You got a great bargain in Holland & Barrett! I’ve noticed the shelves in my local Asda looking a bit ropey in places, I’m wondering if it’s pay day shoppers as it’s the end of the month, I know supermarkets keep very little back room stock and rely on daily deliveries (which is why we have our pantries), one store that seems to pile everything sky high is B&Ms a lot of the stuff is unnecessary stuff but I do find their cleaning products, tea and coffee (and a few pantry staples) cheaper than the big stores.
Very little in Tescos at 7.15 pm & discount minimal however there were some bargains in Aldi 30% pork chops and 75% off teacakes amongst other things! Next week will try after 8 pm after workshift. Think Aldi are good for bargains when they do them
Dress looks really nice 👍
Brilliant bargains! 😊
Thank you

What a delicious brunch and so frugal too - well done!
Thanks so much! 😊

Yes Belinda there’s a lot of high street shops to let here 💐
From a fellow Aussie,it is so true! The government need to realise they can’t make a silk purse out of the sows ear they have turned the country into.
@@BeFree-BeFrugal yes it is getting SCARY. One thing I forgot is that there is a shortage of CO2 so cheap fizzy drinks (soda) are empty!
