Yes. It's because the vast majority of the world's population has only ever been exposed to soccer. It's all they know. You think the street urchins in Rio or have ever attended another code of football in their lives? Germans? Peruvians? Guatemalans? Chinese? You think they've ever had the opportunity to attend any other type of football? No, most of them haven't. In my home city of Melbourne, Australia, however, at the transition of the seasons one can go and watch live soccer, Australian Football, rugby union and rugby league all in the same weekend. And thereby develop an informed opinion as to the relative worth of each code. Which is why soccer, with its scoreless draws and unmanly diving at the slightest touch, must be played during summer here because it simply can't compete for crowds with our own wonderful game (which is unknown to the rest of the world). Being born Australian is winning the lottery of life. It ain't fair, but fuck it feels good.

The Germans did slow down, at the end before the 6th and 7th goal they were barely attempting to drive the ball in, I think the score could've easily been 8-0 had the Germans not held back.
That would've been correct if they had scored that 3rd goal in .....Idk....somewhere around the 80th minute of the game......
