A nice sized city that's easy to get around in. Peoria Chiefs baseball team and plenty of attractions at the Peoria Civic Center. Lots of Parks to explore with some very affordable golfing around the area. Springdale Cemetery.. Historic and Beautiful. Pretty good fishing around central Illinois. Like any other city as old as Peoria, you will have bad areas to avoid and some other better places to set up. Do your homework on what you need in your neighborhood and school. Is it New York City, London, or Paris.. No, but it's still a pretty nice city with much to offer.
My great-grandfather was from Peoria, and I actually have distant family that still lives in Peoria, but Im from New York and really want to meet my distant relatives that live in Illinois
Having lived in Chicagoland for 20 years, and living in Peoria for 7 years now, I definitely prefer Peoria. Does it have its bad side? Yes, just like everywhere else. It also struggles financially, also like other places, mostly due to Covid and inflation. Nowhere is perfect. The number one thing I like is that it is large enough to have good services and shopping with no Chicago traffic. The number one thing I hate are the most godawful streets!! Makes me wonder what they're spending their budget on. Maybe they should change the city name to Patches McGee. 😅😅😅
I love living in the Peoria area myself I lived in Macomb il off and on for 20 years and they don’t really have anything before that I lived in meredosia Ill for 5 years and before that I lived in Jacksonville Ill during my early childhood my family is originally from Jacksonville from ancestry on up but Peoria tops them all because they have more to do I agree they need to fix the streets and like you said it has crime too but you’re not not going to get away from it and I’m definitely glad it’s not major city traffic I never drove in Chicago but I have driven in Nashville Tennessee and that was a nightmare and a half
1: Don't come to Peoria. I know because I've lived here for about 10 years. Crime is definitely on the rise, including shootings. Peoria really is a PODUNK, BACKWATER town. My girlfriend is retiring in about 4 months, and we purchased a nice camper, and we bought some nice property in Northern New Mexico, about 100 miles south of the Colorado border. And now that Governor Prtizker has enacted no cash bail, criminals have become more brazen.... I carry TWO sidearms and a tactical knife anytime I go out.... Getting to be just like Chicago here....

They forgot to mention Big Als or Club Cabrere.
Spirit of Peoria doesn’t exist anymore 🥲
