    Just received a Broadcaster 70th anniversary custom shop NOS and I love it. Wouldn’t want it any other way. If it’s gonna get relicked, I want to do it by actually playing it.

    I've seen "Time Machine" relic and that is more of a step up from Journeyman Relic. I have a heavy relic Tele that I just bought that feels and looks great. However I really can't wait until my Original 50's Tele starts to wear and show signs of significant playing. That will probably take decades.

    I just got a 2019 Heavy Relic Strat, '56 in Cimarron Red with a AAA Flame Maple neck. Traded a buddy a brand new 2020 PRS McCarty 594 S2, a Baja Tele, and $500 cash. It's been in the case since he bought it and it's amazing. Many of the Heavy Relics from that year with Maple fretboards have frets that look dark and "dirty", it's such a cool effect that you don't see on other relics. Absolutely love it.

    Cool look but any of mine with messed up paint involved being obsessed with playing for 20 years and they all have a story behind them where I was pissed off when it happened
    I wonder if Porsche will wreck a car before you buy it if you pay them extra?

  • @lamontprospect9974

    Initially I was puzzled when I first saw the relicted guitars.
    I thought who would pay extra money for a guitar that looks like it's been beat to heck?
    Now I absolutely love the heavy relic line.
    To me, they are truly pieces of art. They are made to look, sound and feel exactly like a guitar from that era.

    I love heavy relics! Just got a 56 with EJ Pups. If you haven’t played one you should. It’s the broken in neck and wood resonance that you feel when you play that seduces you, Can your listeners hear you are playing a relic? No but the Player can FEEL all of the interaction with the vibe and that influences his playing. It’s the outcome of this process between creator and player that people feel. That’s what matters and not just what it looks like. Although I love the look as well and that impacts performance as well. Players should play what they like for positive results.

    I really do not have a preference because I find most guitars beautiful. However I used to be one of those people that do not see a point to paying for a relic job when you can do it yourself with enough playing. But after spending like 18 years of abusing my Fender Stratocaster through playing and modding it and naturally getting to the point of having the arm wear and other sections of finish missing as well as other types of wear I can completely understand wanting to pay to get that unique beauty out of the box. Keep in mind that it took about 15 years of playing for ten hours a day almost everyday to get the arm wear. Also despite thinking that each mark would tell a tale and I could be like "that chip or ding was from playing at this place with these people" that doesn't happen. In reality it is I put my baby up after playing then get her out later or the next day and find a spot of damage and go "what the heck happened there and when did that happen?!"

    • @RNicolasRuvalcaba
      @RNicolasRuvalcaba 3 роки тому +1

      Sounds like a plan, just don't be surprised if you can't even sell it for 90% less than it's original value if you do that.. BTW, the thick polyester finish on a MIM Strat is not the type of finish that's used for relic'ing. There's difference between vintage Nitro finish and modern Polyester finish, you can do your own research if you care to learn more about those differences.

    Hey guys... love your vid... I’ve noticed lately a new type of NOS called Time Capsule Package.... the 70th Anniversary broadcasters have this option... I’ve seen no official description of this but I think it differs from NOS in that NOS like y’all said is if it was brand new in ‘56... but Time Capsule has the closet classic hardware so it’s like if it had been in time capsule...NOS finish but aged hardware... would that be an accurate distinction from what y’all know?... thank you guys!!!

    One thing that I don't understand about Fender custom shop "relic'd" guitars is, why would they go to such extremes to relic the finish and hardware to make the guitar look authentically aged then put a big logo on the headstock that advertises the fact that it's 100% not authentic ? I get that they want to pat themselves on the back but in my opinion that completely defeats the purpose.
