- Michael Flatley's Feet of Flames is an Irish dance show directed by Michael Flatley and scored by Ronan Hardiman.Feet of Flames was created in 1998 by dancer Michael Flatley, made famous by the musical Riverdance. First created for Flatley's last show as the "Lord of the Dance", the show was a one-off performance in London's Hyde Park on July 25, 1998, playing to approximately 50,000 people. The show itself closely resembles its predecessor, Lord of the Dance. However Feet of Flames doubles the dancers, adds new numbers, and a new stage with multi-level tiers for the dancers.
In this scene known as "Stolen Kiss" we have The Lord of the Dance- Michael Flatley, Morrigan, the Temptress - Gillian Norris and Saoirse, the Irish Colleen - Bernadette Flynn.

and play it fairly regularly. Mind you there are many other superb songs from the
brilliant show which I also have on an old VHS tape. This show is immortal !!!!

This is one of my favourite dances in the show. I love how all three of them manage to transmit their very different personalities through their movements, especially Bernadette and Gillian. And I simply adore the part where Michael and Bernadette dance together!

I love how bernadette soft shoe represents her softness and love, while gillian hard shoe represents her list for power and control❤️

Michael Flatley is an absolute genius. How can anyone create something so beautiful, that also tells a story through dance and makes the viewer so emotional when watching. I watched Feet of Flames for the first time when I was a bubba, because my Mum loved it and played it constantly. I genuinely don't know how he does it, how does someone create something so visually beautiful and heart warming that I cry every time I watch it 💖💖
It's the authentic irish dancers behind him that made this show, rem it was irish people who taught flately to dance. He spent 3 years refining his steps in ireland

no dislike, but I do enjoy the lord of the dance version better. It's sweeter and Michael is more fluid. Here he is a bit sharper with his movements. I don't know if it's because they are playing to a bigger audience so he has to make the movements bigger somehow, but the other one, he seemed to have more fluidity with his gestures....but I ADORE this dance regardless :)
That’s exactly why. There’s a behind the scenes video for FOF and you hear Michael telling the cast that they need to make big movements to project to the back of the audience, since they’re playing such a big venue
When I think of Luthien Tinuviel dancing in the forests of Doriath, she always moves just like Bernadette Flynn.

If you know much about Celtic Mythology, Gillian Norris in the Red Dress represents The Morrígan, whom is a very prominent Goddess responsible for many things. She was known for sewing the seeds of fate, war outcomes, and just in general luring people into chaotic, and often violent situations, or just to do her bidding. She was somewhat of an enigma, and her symbolizing animal is the crow. Whenever The Morrígan appears, it is said that trouble is brewing for someone... or many. In my opinion, her closest Greek counterparts would be a combination of Eris and the opposite of Nike. (Instead of deciding who wins battles like Nike, The Morrígan decides who dies in battles).

(ah, responding to a comment 8 years later. wepa.) anyway, i think the storytelling element is that the fine gent pulled her hair as she went past him. it's hard to see with the camera work on this version, but in other versions, the moment is clearer. why he might tease, or possibly please, her that way... well... that's for the viewer to decide.

Jean Butler looks pissed when she dances in Riverdance. I never really see her smile. Both women in their lead roles in this show r better performers because they show emotion where Jean Butler did not.

@missMagbeth I think Flatley is a master of fantasy and entertainment... and I agree with you; i believe that most women truly wish to be listen too, understood and appreciated (I'm sure this varies amongst individuals)... but you must realise the difference between fantasy and reality... Flatley has a horrible reputation as a 'user' of women.... hardly an advocate of romance in which you seek - he is after-all a master of fantasy, illusion and self-interest.
Flatleys performance looks a bit off, like he had just done a whole bag of speed
