What you should get is a bunch of new plants coming off that corm. Takes a while. A couple of times it worked beautifully. But there’s been times when I must have kept it too wet and gnats ate the roots. Good luck. Keep us posted

I've seen others get lots of plants before but the couple times I did this over this summer, I got exactly 1 plant per piece.

I can’t wait to see your results! I’ve been wanting to try this but afraid I would get nothing or it would not live. Hope you will give periodic up dates over the next few months. I do suspect it will take a while to get any type of meanful growth. Anyway appreciate you trying it

Yeah it's a good call to not do this if you aren't ok losing a plant. I've done this a few times now and always had success but I would hate for somebody to try it and lose 1 of 1 plants for them.
I am considering doing my dwarf cavendish as well. I was thinking of buying another to go with the one I bought last year but then thought I could try and divide the one into a few instead and if I kill it, I'll buy another which I was going to do anyway.
