  • This video shows clips of a Metso HP400 being run on Mellott Company test stand. After extensive rebuild, we typically run a crusher at no load for two-hours, to ensure that we deliver a good product. If a machine fails prematurely, it tends to do so within the first 30 minutes of start-up. We run the machine until the temperatures stabilize. We also notice that if we start and stop the machine several times, the coast down times improve by several seconds each time as the bearing surfaces begin to seat and break in. Coast down time is a good indicator that the machine is running as it should, without binding or excessive friction. We also check for things like excessive temperatures and vibration.
