Man … a lot of negative comments and nobody commenting has ever had their hands on one. I have an R3, and the R5mk2 and guess what? I want an R1. I’m not chasing features, I don’t need the newest bike on the block… but the R1 brings features to the table that will never show up on the R3. You need to know both “why” and “when” it’s better to shoot with a camera that has a 45megapixels sensor vs 24, just like you need to know when it makes sense to shoot with the slower sensor on the R5mk1 vs the MK2. But to just bash the R1 cause a strategic decision to stay at 24megapixels? What’s the flagship Sony A9iii? 24 megapixels…. Why is 24 megapixels a sweet spot for sports and photo journalism? I think that would be a good topic to look into before a person makes a decision on sensor performance. There’s a reason people pay over 6k for a 24 megapixel camera!
Some manufacturers seem to disappoint. Perhaps it is our fault, for having higher expectations that we should. The Canon R1 reflects exactly the Canon ethos, anyone that thought Canon was going to release something different does not know how Canon operates. Make a note of this and use it in the future. You will never be disappointed.

I waited for the R1 to come out, then took advantage of the brief price drop of the R3 and got one from B&H for $3,999. Best purchase I ever made.
Wow😎!
