yes steve is great singer ma really the band as genesis copy good ma steve not fish as new singer now have album friends and his orchestra as really success of marillionfish era is great fish as solo carriera ma as the band is good really singer original singer steve is good ma fish is much better
What a blast! I was the director of the series and lost all of my tapes during several difficult moves: it's really great to see that it's still alive out there somewhere. Thanks ever so much for posting this...I'll keep searching UA-cam for more! Thanks again, Patrick Kelly
I'm a heterosexual man, but I'm not in the least bit ashamed to admit that H was a very handsome chap back in the day. But that's all bullshit anyway, the guy saved Marillion and took the band to a new place. Though I love the Fish albums, one could very well argue a lot of their best work came from the Hogarth era.
I was at the De Montfort Hall gig that was filmed for Rock Steady, and it was brilliant. They were just as good last weekend at the Hammersmith Odeon :-D
Wildgeese are you joking? You must be deaf! Steve Hogarth is very charismatic and improved them as band. Fish wanted to leave, the band wanted him to leave so he did. Steve H is a great singer and I wouldn't have got into marillion if it wasn't for him. Move on mate - it's over 25 years as frankly you just sound old and bitter.
Fish supplied genuine and sincere charisma, along with a powerhouse delivery and biting wit / social commentary, whereas Steve H seems by comparison to be a more smarmy slick contrived kind of singer. I think Marillion became very bland once Fish left, because there was nobody to kick them up the arse anymore.
I like 'em both. They are like two pretty different bands, but I don't get the whole picking sides thing. Same with Genesis. People just love to pick one side or the other, and I just don't get it. It's all good. Different, but good.
A very short and a bit superficial interview.. but maybe they were designed to be that way in this program.. So the split happened because Fish wanted to pursue a solo career? Has it worked out…??
@wild geese- Marillion are NOR struggling at all today - they sell more records than most chart acts and are all millionaires! Is that struggling. Hogarth brought freshness to the band . Fish may have been the original mainstream singer but that was the eighties - they are still called Marillion but they are two different bands . The songwriting has improved ( due to Hogarth) the songs are better ( in my opinion) now than they ever were. Take a listen to Power ( search on here) from the new alb
They became something else...equally as good! H is as stunning a frontman as Fish...if not better. But the band itself - still as good now as when they began.
Kevin Leavy I liked Fish a lot, but all he has over Steve Hogarth is the nostalgia. Hogarth is greater on every level and every aspect as the frontman... greater musician, greater lyricist and a far better singer... End of......
When I first heard some of his lyrics, side splitting laughter soon turned to sorrow for the end of one of my favourite bands!! It's so sad that they're still struggling to this day with Hogarth up front. Oh well, we all make bad choices in life. I just can't help wondering what might have happened had they recruited a more charismatic singer.
32 years later he is still with the band. This means something :) Much love to both Hogart and Fish.
omg, he's getting old! Just like us 🙂 What a joy to have this band & their brilliant music.
This guy is the best. The right man a great band like Marillion needed.

Steve is simply the right man in the right time, I love your imprinting, your voice, your genius...Fish is simply the past
Yes, he was so humble and gracious...
i love him, love him, love him!
Brilliant -Steve Hogarth is such a true gent and a star

I too was at the Rock Steady gig and The last Saturday at Hammersmith! It's been a long road eh?
I had this on VHS for years.
IMHO - H was the best thing to happen to Marillion. Authentic might be the best word for these guys. Very approachable and just good people.
wish we had shows like this now
Voice is good 🎉🎉for the group
Marillion, Genesis, AC/DC... a hard replacement, made easy, by these vocalists. credit due to Steve, Phil & Brian.
The thing is both made a lot of good hits, they are like the lee roth and hagar. You have 2 bands with same name but both are awesome.
Hey!! Thanks for posting this!! This is somehow different to all the material posted out there
Marillion really are two different bands ,both great at that
Its on here somewhere! I've just watched it :)
Probably because it's so old. My m8 had it on video & kept hold of it for years.

MARBLES81 Marillion were so much better with fish ! End of discussion!

@@tiplady conversation reopened. No they weren't, end of discussion.
@@booshting3520,
Well I preferred the Prog stuff, the later stuff changed and became more rocky, to each his own.
Well spotted! It's on my hard drive, but not yt, i'll upload it now.
I was at that gig!
😍❤️

Lol nobody in Marillion is a millionaire, mate
His voice is unique
Its "Little Nicky Horne"!!
marillion became better with Hogart.
Jayraj Jonson no they didn't.. Fish made that band.
