Thank you Nic and your two twins for a great review and for having Mike appear even briefly, I would agree that the MG4 isn't suited to those of us in the vertically enhanced category. :)
The wind noise in MG is a manufacturer's fault which I have had from new and MG hasn't done anything about it. Perhaps someone from MG sees it and they finally issue some sort of recall. Another great review by Nicola, my favourite car reviewer. ❤ Next to Thomas and James from Throttle House
So the key selling points for the Jeep are "the buttons work", "it's not that bad", and a "JEEP" logo. Good thing it's more expensive than the other two, so you can show off while you charge (very often due to the small battery). BTW, if the Megane's boot is too deep, they have an optional raised floor with stowage compartments underneath.
Ive had my MG4 Trophy Long Range for about 3 months and absolutely love it! I was a bit skeptical of quality and build initially it being an MG and made in China and all but the car has pleasantly surprised me!
Wait until something goes wrong, and it will, there is a reason MG has 73% one star rating on trustpilot, mainly for customer service, i mean waiting months for spare parts and they will find anything they can to not repair under warranty, i had an mg HS did 1063 miles and couldn't cope any longer so counted my losses and got a new Renault Megane e tech, bit like jumping out of a 30 year old lada into a rolls royce
Why didn’t they use the MG4 Trophy 64KwH? It has the same range as others and is a lot cheaper. Feels a bit manufactured TBH although do agree with the conclusion that the Megane is the winner at this price.
Thanks for the review. Today we did a test drive in the BYD Dolphin (Design) 60kW version, with 204bph and 310 Nm. Everything standard, even panoramic roof with electric sunscreen. We liked it a lot better than the MG4 extended range. But we will wait until we had a ride in the Citroën ë-C3 before we decide. The Citroën is a smaller EV with less range and less features, but he, around €10.000 cheaper, that counts also.
I highly do NOT recommend the e-C3, I've had it 1 years and it's a piece of junk. Every drive annoys me - for example, the on-board computer has neither the drive time nor the consumption since the start of the drive nor since the last charge. You are always driving blind. The infotainment is slow and useless. It doesn't compare with anything modern. I also bought it for the price and honestly? It wasn't worth the savings. Not to mention the cold gate, where in the winter that car charges worse on DC than a 2015 e-Golf. never again Stellantis.
Lovely presentation, they are all still vehicles that are similar shape, suv/hatchback/crossover, they all do exactly the same thing. Jeep Avenger for me, just for the price point and look

Tried the MG and thought it was really cheap inside, totally a class apart from the Mégane. The rear view mirror is not a gimmick but does take some getting use to. The camera is inside so need to keep the rear window wiped to get the best from it. Also, I leave the Regen in the lowest setting and only use the other settings for cornering or anticipation of stopping.

Great presenting, adds interest and banter to an otherwise boring review. Good job . I vote Mégane I just wish it actually could do 260 on a motorway run
I test drove the MG4 and it was good and bad. Wind noise and the whistle was present, the whistle apparently is due to the trophy's rear spoiler which also reduces range. Manos definitely needs an Avenger. I’ve noticed you’re the official supporter of Motability. Please please could you include accessibility of cars. Plus the Jeep Avenger has a £0 advance payment, and a heat pump and a powered boot. So it’s a winner for me, I think, but it would be so good if you could assess how useful cars are for someone with dexterity issues and who needs easy access and stuff. Given that electric cars are cheap on motability and expensive for others, it’s likely that motability customers will make up a large number of first time cheap ev buyers. Love the content, by the way, I’m being entirely selfish. And please give Manos an Avenger. That’s actually the most important issue.
It seems to me that there has been a proliferation of YT videos comparing MG4s of different specs to pretty much everything. And they all find a reason to choose something else. Yet the stand-out reason for getting an MG4 is the price.-the only reason someone might buy the Extended Range over the Standard or "Short" range would be, duh, the longer range! So completely ignoring the range issue is simply bonkers. If you're going to ignore the range issue, then you should be looking at the standard range, which costs one-hell-of-a-lot-less. And that makes the choice a lot more interesting. How much does that perceived quality really cost you? When the difference is 150km (when you don't need it), then the choice may be easy, but 4 grand (or more) is a lot of beer vouchers, especially if driving from a to b is all you really need to do.
@@mrhdebater1607 Yeah, I know. I was just pointing out the basic falacies of so many of these "Comparisons". If they want to demonstrate the validity of buying, for example, an Megane, then they should stop with the BS and just tell us under what circs it might be the better buy. Personally, I am completely uninterested in anything with FWD, no matter how well it drives. Seriously we've been fed a diet of fwd "family" cars for what, 40 years? Now that it is possible to get RWD family cars,
@@davidcolin6519 It's a show designed to draw viewership. If picking a car was that easy then we'd all drive the same car. Many people wouldn't care about your opinion either if FWDs are cheaper than RWDs. I myself was an RWD driver, but now I don't care as long as the car works and doesn't bankrupts me as an owner.
@@mrhdebater1607 "If picking a car was that easy then we'd all drive the same car." Not at all, there aremany reasons why people buy the cars they buy, and range is just one of them. Personally, I think far too many people obsess about EV range, especially people who barely and rarely do more than 100 miles in a week. The vast majority hardly ever do round trips of over 100-150 miles, yet they insist on cars which have a range of more than 250! And how well automation works may be a much more important factor than even having that automation. There really are very few things that are more annoying than overzealous automations. My last car had automatic windscreen wipers that were more of a nuisance than a benefit, just one example. What I find interesting is that MG seem to be dealing with updates far better than most of the legacy (European) brands. FWIU, they have been updating their software very much in line with most cusyomers' needs, hardly something that can be said of most automakers. Having said that, if you start out with a (very) good base point, it is much easier to adjust to customers' needs. Having started out driving when both FWD and RWD were available at all levels of car ownership, and gone on to a time when only FWD was available to all except the "premium" brands, I am personally delighted that RWD is available to all again. But, as you pointed out, that is a personal choice, as is the point of how much a driver enjoys driving. I dare say that, if I lived in the UK, I almost certainly wouldn't get much enjoyment out of driving either. But I don't, and I do.
@@RobertDodge unfortunately I have the same problem (MG4 Trophy). Think is the sealing on some rear panel or something, couldn't figured it out yet, neither could the 2 dealerships I brought the car to.

I would not BUY new... leasing for 1 or 2 years is super cheap. Then if you love it, a 2 year old can be purchased in 2026...!! Personally I would go for the new Scenic EV.
Agree that the Megane is the winner, but i cannot stand that particular models pre crashed bodge repaired bumper concept. MG lloses for me cause of the interior mirror mount block on the front windscreen, no rear wiper and that annoying rear spoiler ( that causes the whistle). So that leaves the Avenger
I’ve been driving 53 years and I’ve come to the conclusion on British roads , anything that goes faster than 0-60 in 5 seconds, disappears down potholes to fast 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Muuuuuuuch more important that one-pedal driving is the blend of regen and mechanical braking on the brake pedal. Under normal circumstances, a car that does regen on the brake pedal well will do that well. I love how the Fiat 500e, for example, does that perfectly. The one-pedal driving drivers are those people who are constantly guessing whether or not they let go of the pedal at the right moment and will then either leave 3-5 meters between their car and the one that has stopped in front of them, or they have to emergency-brake when they misjudged it the other way 'round. People should learn to drive and don't bother with that "feature".
I disagree. Properly implemented, one pedal driving (using only regen) is easy to predict stopping distance and is the most efficient use of energy. I have to make a point of using the brakes on my Model 3 once a week just to keep them clean otherwise they don’t get used.
What are you on about, it took me exactly 15 minutes to figure out one pedal driving in my Model 3, perhaps you are projecting with your learn to drive line?
Both of you are obviously talking about a car that doesn't _have_ regen through the brake pedal. It forces you to use one pedal driving to have regen at all. I'm sure if I was forced to use it, I'd have to tell myself, too, that it's a good system.
@@frykeRegen braking (non-brake pedal) IS a good system. I can judge stopping distance down to a few inches. Absolutely no reason for friction brake wear.
This channel is refreshing that is not another heil Tesla be all end all fanboy channel. The extreme gimmickiness of Tesla and lack of physical controls and false claims on FSD are really turn off for potential EV customers.
I don't get the Jeep! It's the most expensive, the least powerful, the smallest & it got car of the year last year before it even went on sale!!! Nuts. For our 1st EV we bought a 1 year old low miles '22 plate Kona Ultimate 64kWh. Excellent efficiency, not too big, great price (half of what it was when new) & in 9 months of ownership we haven't used a public charger yet. IMO buying used is the only way owning & running an EV makes sense as second car for local trips & if possible charged at home. For longer trips we use my large ice estate car.
I think you get a lot of bang-for-buck with the MG, but the interior just seems very cheap. This video is solid proof that Stellantis EVs are very overpriced. I agree with all three Nicolas - the Renault is the best of this bunch
The megane is definitely the winner here. It also wins for reliability and safety tech of the three. Renault make much better EV's than stellantis and the MG4 is a bit too cheap-feeling with questionable reliability thus far
Megane for me BUT by God, does it need a panoramic roof! It is so dark and claustrophobic in there but pano roof not even available as an option. Massive shame. Just about all EVs at this price point have them. Ticks every other box for my wants. Still not sure about efficiency though real world.

MG has the software settings problem that apparently can’t be fixed coz of crash test ..😂😂😂😂ohh and do you get any feedback about MG4 doing random emergency stops when there’s nowt there 😮 a UA-camr reported this on screen tuther day…and again…software can reduce sensitivity but again it forgets the user setting…already 🙄. Given that electric cars are cheap on motability and expensive for others, it’s likely that motability customers will make up a large number of first time cheap ev buyers.
Love the content, by the way, I’m being entirely selfish.
And please give Manos an Avenger. That’s actually the most important issue.
Yep, if ladies are cold, can make editing difficult...
It's because MG4 came out first and became an instant hit. Also, people want the best value for money.
@@mrhdebater1607 "If picking a car was that easy then we'd all drive the same car."
Not at all, there aremany reasons why people buy the cars they buy, and range is just one of them.
What is that wind noise in that MG?! Got a Trophy LR as a company car 2 months ago which is externally the same and never had that problem!
same here, very quiet so has to be with the car there
Yes I agree the noise was specific to the MG4 LR she drove
@@RobertDodge unfortunately I have the same problem (MG4 Trophy). Think is the sealing on some rear panel or something, couldn't figured it out yet, neither could the 2 dealerships I brought the car to.
Earlier comment verified by another viewer says it's the small window by the wing mirror that causes the noise. One commenter taped it up and the other had the dealer remove it and reseal it both fixed the issue
So that leaves the Avenger
in NZ they have a rear wiper and you do not have to have a spoiler model on the mid range.

The answer to "What's better than having Nicola present a car video?" - Having 3 Nicolas(Nicoli?) present a car video.
Don’t know if you tried the Senic before the Megan, if so which would you choose Megan of Senic with your own money
Why do Jeep bother making cars for you UK.
Outside of cities the UK get rural pretty damn fast. plus POTHOLES... pretty sure you could hide a MG4 in some of the potholes round here.
@@charlesuk5358Yeah but that jeep isn't really a jeep. It's no better off road than the others.
I’ve been driving 53 years and I’ve come to the conclusion on British roads , anything that goes faster than 0-60 in 5 seconds, disappears down potholes to fast 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Can we have Max and Checo reviewing a car please? Petition to make it happen!
10:05 isn't usb ''C'' its usb ''A'' standard usb port! at 2.amps
This review just proves that Jeep has moved away from everything that made jeep an icon of the 60's-90's, and turned into a collage girl's car.
Reliability is on my mind for these 3
One Nicola is fun and enjoyable, 3 of them is terrifying 😂😂
00:39 - I know what I’m thinking - what on earth are those beige bits on the front and back of the Megane?
Shame the Uk doesn’t get the bigger screen compared to Europe
Nah, I'm just observing people more and more doing these things, and misjudging the regen is probably the best explanation for it. @@badbasic
Not wanting to be a stick up for detail but the MG has a USB-not-C on the back 😊
I don't get the Jeep!
So what's the thing with metric data written on screen?
Nicola in triplicate? #heaven
The megane is definitely the winner here. It also wins for reliability and safety tech of the three. Renault make much better EV's than stellantis and the MG4 is a bit too cheap-feeling with questionable reliability thus far
Why can’t anyone reviewing the MG4 push the turn on radio button on the steering wheel? Driving me nuts
we tax payers pay for infrastructure and these green companies rip us off with high prices
i love my red iconic megane, android automotive is really the best too!
The Megane is so nice. Wonder when it's coming to Malaysia...
Megane for me BUT by God, does it need a panoramic roof! It is so dark and claustrophobic in there but pano roof not even available as an option. Massive shame. Just about all EVs at this price point have them. Ticks every other box for my wants. Still not sure about efficiency though real world.
I believe there is a Austral BEV on the horizon
Like the Avenger, similar to’t BYD no dealers near me..! Renault looks promising but those tyres wouldn’t last a week around here, we have to have 8” deep moon craters on our roads….Renault show sense with the paddles, assume there’s a model with smaller wheels to suit our roads…! But hey prices need addressing car makers..!
Jeep is nice but with a terrible prices! They are crazy.. and Avenger without SUNROOF is not the same!!.. Come on Stellantis ...you can do better....
Unfortunately if mike millions of us we prefer a Hatchback there is virtually NO EV choice. Less than 10 available & less than 5 that are practical 😢
Or even worse if you want an estate...yer know, with proper practicaliy for carrying a pack of 3 be 2, plasterboard and a bag of board finish from been n queued....and a couple of dogs slishing around in the back at the weekend.
Your choice is......an mg5 😖
All the vehicles shown here are hatchbacks.
Is the world ready for 3 Nicolas? 😮
I hope you got paid 3 x times you usual rate. Class production 👌👍
Jeep avg B segment - Megane etech C segment
It is remarkable how stellantis is not capable of making any interior joint to have fit. Unbelievable what crap company that is
MG4 whistle?.... were all the windows closed? I don't have this issue on my xpower... (done 11k in 6 months so far... no issues) 👍 😂
Give Manos a Jeep! Also what is better than Nicola Hume doing a fun presentation of an EV....3 Nicola Humes!! Well done and a fun video. For me the MG4 is best on but not for me as I really found it difficult to get in to!
Oh wow... Three of you... Great 😅
What is the problem of plastics? If its durable, dont make noise, dont see the problem, they are not Bentleys.
I looked at my car doors today, I have owned it for 18months and never looked or took any notice before. Now look what you have done.😃
