Hey Sportsnet, the rats never left. We always throw them on the ice after a win. After all, we can't be penalized after a game. You should fire who ever wrote this video after telling him about how research and search engines work.
We throw the rats at the end of every game we win. That’s the tradition now. The NHL only banned the rats after ever goal, but we have never stopped throwing them in 27 years.
You're right, Nintendo. We never stopped throwing them. I still have mine from 96, plus, I have my Panther flag from that season hanging from my car window. Go Cats!!!
Honestly, I kinda love it. Being a Detroit fan, I can't help but love it when other teams develop their own take on a tradition like the octopus. Makes the game way more engaging for fans!
STILL one of my favorite memories as a hockey fan, the 1996 Florida Panthers and the 'rat-tossing'. That was cool to see. The story behind it is even more unusual. And you can see that even today the fans in South Florida STILL remember it even though the team, up until recently, wasn't always very successful on the ice. Now we might see the Panthers back in the Cup Final for the 1st time since that epic '96 playoff run. 🙂🐀
Im 54 now and still live in South Florida. The Panthers in 96 were everything here and I have to say they were a much more exciting team back then. Every bar was packed when they played, jerseys hats and shirts were worn everywhere and I mean everywhere. It was our life here for a few months. Everyone who lived here knew every players name. The local rDio station 94.9 Zeta even had a huge pep rally and thousands of people showed up in the middle of the day on a workday! People were wrapping and painting their cars in Panther colors, I even painted a donated car like a Panthers jersey for the pep rally. Good times man.
That one company literally paid for the rat collectors to have their logo😂this is why we love florida. Honestly never seen a actual florida hater. I dont count doubters.
My dad (from Chicago, living in Fort Lauderdale at the time) saw the Avs lift the cup after game 4. Imagine bringing thousands of rats to the finals game and you get shut out and lose in triple ot to lose the series 😭
Where do you stand on this tradition? for or against?

Love it! GO PANTHERS!
Only infestation where no pest control is needed
Still thrown on ice after home wins. I'd also like to see them thrown for Panthers hat tricks and call them rat tricks.
I like this tradition and the folklore behind it. That's why hockey is great.

Most rats I’ve ever seen, 2012 vs new jersey in round 1 games 2 and 5!!! It was raining rats!!🐀🐀
Feel the passion 🐀

I need this in the Finals. But like....200% more rats. What a hilarious tradition. Never fails to make me laugh.
How was it tonight ? 😂
@@trizzyano1352 Still love it! Looking prettttty good for the Panthers, very hard team to beat.

I will never not laugh when Roy gets hit in the mask by a rat lol

Same haha
Example of a great tradition tht wasnt forced in a non traditional market. Great stuff to see.
The fact they allowed this after every goal is crazy the games took forever
Will they play Rats by Ghost?
W habs pfp, W ghost fan.
Honestly they should, right to the chorus! Since they stopped using Sweetness by Jimmy Eat World
Hatebreed 'In the Walls' is about Rats.
2 more wins to a Stanley cup this year!!! 2024
PANTERS WIN!!!!! 🐀 🐀 🐀 🐀
Are you even a panthers fan?
@@red3here before you were born punk
@@red3here they sure made a believer out of me the way they took down Boston, yeah. Way to bounce back after last year's sweep to the Bolts!
@@wad316 not me I still want them gone.
@@red3hereNot sure if you’re a Bolts fan, but respect other teams’ traditions.

Somebody throw Marchand out on the ice. 🐀
I didnt see that coming. Good one😂😂😂
Makes you wonder, if the win the Cup, will we see a live gator on the ice?
The rats after every goal was excessive. Make it a real rat like Wings fan bring in octopus and we wouldn't have had those delays. lol
We still throw them after every home win.
Panthers in 4 🏆❤️🤍❤️🏆👏🏾
Maybe but 4th game is hardest to get.

The Nords/Avs Still own the Panther Rats.
Ok and?
Colorado has never beaten Seattle in the playoffs :))
We don't RAT😂🇨🇦🤣
Oh they have returned alright but only at the end of the game or an overtime goal for the panthers that is
