I especially appreciate the way you link everything below, that is so helpful. I had ordered a few small bottles of the Colorverse Inks from Dromgoole’s recently, and I’m excited to try them! I find nothing else that compares in terms of hobbies that uplift!!!! :) Oh the little Colorverse bottles are just the cutest things. They don't even look like they hold 5 ml but they do ... I syringed mine out and into the sample vials but I adore the little bottles just to look at!!! :)

Chris I am going through a lot right now and I just started my fountain pen journey in April. I just had to tell you I love your presentations and once I get through thing's get back on my fountain pen and ink journey they way I want to.
This video came at the right time! I’m planning to participate. I’ll be doing all purple inks. I’ve been counting my bottles and samples and I have enough to make it. I also plan to do a daily video and Instagram post. I’m going out of town for a few days next month, so I don’t know how the posting will work. But like you said, this is about fun, not stress.
Hi Mary! Oooh it will be fun to see your purples ... I will have to give my debit card to someone for safe keeping. LOL Each time, I have to remind myself not to turn it into pressure because it truly is so much fun for me to splatter and write around with inks!!!! I'm just so programmed to weave everything into a solid routine ... which is a blessing and a curse lol.

Hi C Foxx --- I actually deal with chronic disorganization so everything I really want to do I have to get super organized for. It's just something I've learned over time about myself. :) You can do it ... most people can manage without quite so much preparation but it is the only thing that works for me. :)
Hi Robert - the inks are so tempting! Birmingham inks never seem to let me down. I too have a lot of inks already and yet I still am interested in so many!!!!! A hobby hazard I guess. LOL
I’m thinking I’m going to do a “grab bag” with my ink samples and a close my eyes and “point & choose” with my pens method. Will have to have my hubby with the closed eyes thing!
Hi April!!!! Oh that's awesome -- it's such a fun way to use ink samples and get really familiar with the inks!!! Last year I did I think 3 ink flights then the last few days were random samples from my collection! I hope you'll really enjoy it and I'll be watching for your posts!
Thank you for your inspiring video with such helpful tips. I did the challenge last year in my ink journal and it was great fun. I did ink up a new pen each day, sometimes because I was lazy and couldn't be bothered to clean it out that day and sometimes because I really liked the colour and wanted to keep on using it up. I was still writing with those 30 pens full of ink many months later, or even the following year! This year I will try and use the same pen each day. I have an unknown brand of pen that is a demonstrator with a convertor but it also has a clear feed so I should find it easier to put in just enough ink for the day. I am going to put the more technical information in my ink journal but write in a new colour in my bullet journal for each day. That should brighten things up a bit! Your painted rectangles look lovely but I don't think my journals will stand up to that. I'm going to scribble in a heart for each day as I think that gives a truer colour-match of the ink when used for writing.
Hi Debby - oh yes the rectangles work on the 68 gsm Tomoe River paper but they'd bleed thru almost anything else except maybe 90 g Clairfontaine or Rhodia. :) Have an awesome inky month!!!!

Chris, your videos are so delightful! Fuyu-Syogun is a superb ink, I love using it when I do. :) I won't be participating in this as I'm trying to cut down on social media, but I hope you have a blast with it!

I realized I've tried Fuyu-Syogun many times in a nib and loved it but I really want to do the chromatography, water tests, ink platters the whole nine yards with it because it may be the first bottle of Pilot Iroshizuku ink that I get. :) I've tried many samples of their inks.

The numbers are actually 2 cm tall. (just a tad over 3/4").

I’ve never done chromatography or splatters and I think I want to add that this time so I may set up a journal very similar to the way you do yours. We get the inkjournal flight so I will definitely do the first seven from the August flight which is a brand I’ve never used and I don’t think I’ll have trouble picking 23 more as we have lots of ink and samples

Hi Chris, this was so helpful! I was thinking of using more than one pen, but what you said about using only one pen to see how different inks work with the same nib and feed also makes sense. I might be using a few of the Twsbi Eco and Twsbi Go in the 1.1 stub. I once read that both, the Eco and the Go, have the same size nib and feed. Do you by any chance know if this is true? Hi Ichiro - this time for the ink order I just tried to vary the colors a little bit in the ink tray - I do like to choose ahead of time like this because I'm terrible at choosing on the day and that can seriously set me back some time. One orange ink is always on the 30th because I started that in the past and it seems to kick off October the next day for me!!! Silly but fun. For the most part - I like to approach the inks the way I did the ink flight sets - with an open mind to see what makes the ink tick. 12 inks must feel easy to manage. Admittedly, the large ink sample collection I have can be overwhelming but I thrive on color variety so I do enjoy it a lot. :)
@@akaiw4092 I think you will have a great time exploring inks especially if you get samples to try before committing to a bottle ... one thing you might try is going over to Matt's website: inkswatch.com/ and looking at colors - you can look by brand, specific color and also compare - it's quite fun. There are ink tools at Goulet Pens too that I like and I like that they have samples sets in color families. :)

Hi Frank - I use my phone camera which is an Android -- a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. It's getting older and I just keep sending it good vibes hoping it lasts forever. I upload directly from the phone then use my old desktop to complete things.
I have been debating whether or not to do this challenge using a custom ink mix for each day, but still haven't decided. I'm already planning on doing #Inktober again this year, so doing two challenges in a row may be too much 😂
Hi Annie - I know what you mean and you don't want to get burned out before October the #inktober challenge I remember your posts from that. I was okay doing 30 blue inks then 31 red inks but for this month (August) I knew I had to break even though I'd be busy with other things - this way September will be fresh with a rainbow of colors!!!!! :) Good luck deciding what to do - I totally get it - and you love sketching!!!!! :)

I was just watching the video where you talk about how you choose your inks. Ive never done this challenge. I get frustrated having to clean the pens. Love the photo of the cats. I might try to participate. My ig is jlcollins7816.
Hi Jessica - I could never do it with 30 pens. I have used ONE dip pen in the past and ONE cartridge converter pen I just cleaned once a day - to be ready for the new ink ... my easiest pen to clean is my Lamy Vista but this Jinhao X750 is pretty easy too - almost the same as the Lamy just not a demonstrator.
