I come from a Baptist background. I stumbled on this channel after watching some of Margaret Barkers stuff on the temple, and it led me to Mike and Dave. They are wonderfully learned men, whose faith and diligence in the lord encourages me to walk straighter in my path. The subjects they tackle, bring me ever closer to my creator. It is absolutely wonderful to see the similarities between the Mormon Temple and the Temple at the heart of the book I love. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your knowledge, wisdom, and your church. Learning along with this crew has been a great addition to my Hebrew studies. Thank you, Christian brothers.

I started out Baptist, then went to messianic Judaism then LDS. Because I felt like I was really missing something with baptist theology, got a lot closer to G-d threw practicing the Laws of mosses, but everything fell in place when I started going to the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

I’m 75 years old and have been attending the temple for 56 years and have been an ordinance worker for four years. I’ve tried to understand the temple and its ordinances and symbols all these years. In the last year I’ve prayed that I could gain a deeper understanding and therefore a greater love of the temple. I’ve watched others who seem to get so much from the temple experience than did I. This video has been an answer to my prayers! Thank you so much for this!!!!

In the early 70’s my husband served a mission in Rome…. At that time the Vatican library was accessible to anyone. There was a very ancient book (all the missionaries knew about) detailing the endowment ceremony. It was much older than the restoration of the LDS church. The library is no longer accessible to the general public unfortunately.

Really interesting at 3:26:56 Hayden mentions 3 Nephi 17; even more interesting in 3 Nephi 19 when the diciples are encircled by angels and fire, with Jesus in the midst . Later in verse 24 it reads “ …they did still continue, without ceasing, to pray unto him; and they did not multiply many words, for it was given unto them what they should pray, and they were filled with desire.” It was given to them what to pray in the circle 👀👀👀

@@CMZIEBARTH yes it is known by many names but with the scriptures and on the churches website when you search under calling and election, many of the scriptures point from calling and election to the term eternal life. So the second anointing, fullness of the priesthood and calling and election all fit under the umbrella term Eternal Life. So when Jesus Christ says in Moses 1:39, "For behold, this is my work and my glory-to bring to pass the immortality (the Atonement and Resurrection) and eternal life (Calling and election made sure, second anointing, fullness of the priesthood) of man."

@@arclightgames there’s actually a great podcast on UA-cam on the 2nd anointing Mormon stories channel. It’s actually a quite fascinating ordinance that disappeared for many decades in the church until Spencer W Kimball brought it back and now it’s something very top secret. In the early days of the church, they used to publish everybody’s names who received this ordinance, I wonder why it’s so secretive now.? And what an interesting ordinance because it’s favoring some members over others. And people think they are going to see the face of the Lord, which doesn’t actually happen.

Please get Bro. Schmidt on! I had him as a professor at BYUI for a history class when he was fairly new there. Incredibly interesting man. He told us a story once (forgive me if I get some things wrong this was about 12 years ago at this point) of how he once taught at a catholic school and was asked how he could remain a mormon with all his wealth of knowledge of Latin and the early church fathers. He said he tried to avoid answering questions like that out of respect since he was at a catholic school. He eventually gave in and responded with give me any doctrine of mine that you think is false and I will show you how the church father's taught what I believe. (something to that effect) he did that brilliantly and was soon out of a job at that school.

It is interesting to note that certain sacred rites were communicated through a creation drama that has stood the test of time, language, and cultural understanding. Pretty remarkable. Also, some tend to focus on similarities with Masonic ritual, but ignore the fact that shades of these ceremonies were found in various cultures that even pre date masonry, ie; Egyptian, Hopi, book of Moses, etc. the question that should be asked is why does the Masonic ritual have echoes of multiple other ancient rites tied to creation dramas?

In Freemasonry York Rite we have “Knights Templar”. In Freemasonry we have a Seperate side/appendant body that is the rosicrucian. Also, in the Scottish rite degrees rosicrucian is discussed.

    I finished this.
    I appreciate these guys sincerity.
I know they really want to know what it all means and they are studying so deeply.
After talking to the people from the church and seeing what the church is actually missing,
The little bit of Hebrew I have studied and spending time in the temple,
The secret of the temple and all the symbols and all the Hebrew secrets is so simple to me:
God is our literal Father and we are to come back into His presence.
We have a mother and as Women are to emulate her. And go back to her arms.
    God is Male and Female.
One day we will leave Father and Mother and be as they are.
To create and start this eternal round again.
All the temple is is a template.
Adam and Eve don't have an endowment in the pearl of great price because they are literally living an endowment.
We are going to be like them and live the endowment first hand.
All of the symbolism points us to a RELATIONSHIP.
It shows us who God is and who we are in relationship.
    Nothing more nothing less.
To be in Gods presence -to have our calling and election made sure. To be like Him and with Him.
You are not supposed to stop striving until your calling and election is made sure.

I've looked at some of my ancestors' patriarchal blessings, and I also noticed references to the oath of vengeance for the blood shed of the prophet. I totally understand why that would have been so prevalent in their day. Joseph was their Prophet, Leader, Presidential Candidate, etc.

I absolutely loved listening to this whole discussion and am looking forward to MANY more just like it. Your discussion led to some timely revelation that has opened my understanding to a deeper love for Jesus Christ and His willingness to make it possible for each individual child of God to return to Heavenly Father through making and keeping covenants. The temple endowment shows how we depend totally on "the merits of Jesus" to bring each of us to God as we bind ourselves to Christ. Thank you to everyone who gives of their time to witness to those who participate on this channel. We are so blessed by your knowledge, research, and willingness to share. May you and your families be blessed for all that you do. I have been an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life and although I have had questions that have taken years to be answered, I have never faltered because I have held fast to the covenants that bind me to Christ. I have had an undeniable witness that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and that the gospel of Jesus Christ (as taught by This Church) is The Way, The Truth, The Light, The Life and The Word and nowhere is that taught and understood better than in one of His Holy temples. This discussion helped to enlarge my vision of sacred things and to confirm the endowment as revealed truth.

It’s going to be a great day of setting tile. Thanks for the healthy distraction.
As I was discussing this with a couple quorum members we all came to the same inspiration at the same time - adversity is going to become “Nauvooesc” and those who have been heavily connected with the Temple are going to be rapidly ushered into the coronation ordinances fulfilling 3Nephi 8:1 - “…and there was not any man who could do a miracle in the name of Jesus save he were cleansed every whit from his iniquity”. Like in Nauvoo it was more important for Saint to be armed with the ordinances than to be splitting hairs over preparatory readiness the coronations will be taking place so that the gifts of JST Gen 14:30-31 can take place to protect the saints and the good citizens around them. My HOP no doctrine here - “I’m a church employee”😂 just kidding

    • @pythonista466

Interesting that you compare the coming tribulation with Nauvoo: much of the persecution came from inside the church. I see that happening today.

      JST Genesis 14: 30,31
_"For God having sworn unto Enoch and unto his seed with an oath by himself; that every one being ordained after this order and calling should have power, by faith, to break mountains, to divide the seas, to dry up waters, to turn them out of their course; To put at defiance the armies of nations, to divide the earth, to break every band, to stand in the presence of God; to do all things according to his will, according to his command, subdue principalities and powers; and this by the will of the Son of God which was from before the foundation of the world."_

      @@pythonista466 Ah Dissenters -
3 Nephi 7:13 Jacob seeing that their enemies were more numerous than they, he being the king of the band, therefore he commanded his people that they should take their flight into the northernmost part of the land, and there build up unto themselves a kingdom, until they were joined by dissenters, (for he flattered them that there would be many dissenters) and they become sufficiently strong to contend with the tribes of the people; and they did so.
      15 And it came to pass that Nephi-having been visited by angels and also the voice of the Lord, therefore having seen angels, and being eye-witness, and having had power given unto him that he might know concerning the ministry of Christ, and also being eye-witness to their quick return from righteousness unto their wickedness and abominations;
16 Therefore, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts and the blindness of their minds-went forth among them in that same year, and began to testify, boldly, repentance and remission of sins through faith on the Lord Jesus Christ.
17 And he did minister many things unto them; … And Nephi did minister with power and with great authority.
18 And it came to pass that they were angry with him, even because he had greater power than they, for it were not possible that they could disbelieve his words, for so great was his faith on the Lord Jesus Christ that angels did minister unto him daily.
It appears to me that this “just man” (see also D&C76:69) Nephi performed these great acts all referenced here was a coronated priesthood member. This somehow seems to me to be what President Nelson and other of the Brethren are begging us to open our eyes and see. Third Nephi was a conference homework assignment as was D&C 109. Not to mention read all the references to Christ (simplified by Scripture Notes -this is a non paid for endorsement 😂)
President Nelson has said repeatedly, “we must know the end from the beginning,” the end is the coronation ordinances if you understand the doctrine of the end or “enduring to the end” than the beginning “obedience and sacrifice” take on an entire new meaning and call to action to serve grace for grace (see D&C 93) until you reach by endurance to the end. The end being in His presence and having the spiritual gifts above in your quiver to face the challenges before us as Christ prepares to come to the wedding.
These boys are doing an amazing job of calling these extremely sacred things (liturgies) to our attention.
Every minute of this and their other presentations along with every word from President Nelson are so worth your time. Throw away fantasy sports and replace it with temple study, worship and your ministry. Go Go Go Saints!!!

3:05:00 In your discussion of good, better, best… Brigham Young / Heber C. Kimball petitioned the Grand Lodge of England to establish 5 lodges in Salt Lake after arriving in the Salt Lake valley - clearly, they continued to think there was value in freemasonry for members along with the temple. I think ONE big benefit of freemasonry is that it helps teach / understand the language (tool set) of symbols and allegory. Members of the church often struggle with literalism - to understand that scriptures / liturgy beyond the literal interpretation. In fact, the Temple is *best* understood symbolically - as it now says in the introduction of the endowment. Rather than fixating on the literalism of the creation story rather ‘liken the scriptures to oneself’ in many levels / layers. The temple teaches in its liturgy, symbols, patterns, etc. The literal interpretation is just the first (most simple) interpretation and doesn’t preclude the many other wonderful / beautiful layers of insight / understanding.
Freemasonry never purports to be literal in its story / myth. It’s *always* to be understood symbolically - as is the lodge and the different components. This way of thinking is common to Freemasons but not so common to members. Personally, I think this is why Joseph, Hyrum, Brigham, and many others in the church saw this as something that prepared / facilitated the higher ordinances of the Temple. Why else would they have rushed thousands through freemasonry in Nauvoo and tried to establish lodges once they got to Salt Lake? They *must* have thought it was useful - beyond simply teaching Saints to keep secrets.
