Gotta say I saw this coming. The idea with the V12 was originally billed as on or two of them taking the place of four or five six cylinder motors. we all knew dam well that people would take advantage of the stationary Power head and cram as many as possible onto a transom. It's almost time to take bets on the Super Charged V 12. I'm hoping for 800HP Instead of the probable 750.
Quite right. if you follow 7 marine as a benchmark with the now discontinued 627. The V12's are a high torque, super quiet motor rather than a racing variant like the 450's, so big boats and motor yachts are the target audience. They are also way lighter and cleaner than the 7 marines.
The more engines you hang off the back, the more drag you create. Which is eating up the additional horsepower, along with the extra weight and fuel. Doesn't stop people from trying, though. They need to figure a way to have all those engines running two gear cases, instead of six. Maybe three props, at most. Then it would really fly.
I always wondered about that. They look cool but how much real, extra oomph do you get going from 4 to 5, or 5 to 6? Better pick up? Higher top speed? How much?
Gear case needs a certain volume to be able to handle power, 2 gearcases with the same frontal area as 6 smaller ones means there isnt all that much difference in drag. Only way around it is surface drive.
On another video somebody commented that you can get a viking 60 for around the same money. The beam width and the draft are very similar. True the viking has A fly bridge which gives you room on the viking for master cabin plus two twin cabins plus multiple heads and large salon with galley. So why is this this boat 60 feet long? Is it the bait tanks and freezers and ice makers that take up space? Is it the walk-in auxiliary mechanical room? The viking 60 correct me if I'm wrong:. Looks like the viking 60 does not give adequate access to your electrical/pump room/generator room. Or another boat is the Pardo 60. Not a fishing boat, but a performance cruiser. Somebody reply please. What are the compromises with the estrella? What is the reason for Less cabin space less sleeper space? Is it because the estrella has tanks for storing fish? But I can clue in the people who say the outboards are gas guzzlers. Probably you don't have to run all the engines. You can turn them on individually.

This boat would've been much better with a swim deck and inboards. Inboards with comparable total power wouldn't drink this much fuel, or need to be this loud, or heavy or anything. There is a point at which more outboard becomes less
I feel sorry for the owner. Everything in and about this boat is about other people. Performance is not the key here. He may have grown up poor or he has some complex that he wants to make up for by impressing others. That race is one material wealth will never win for him.

Agree with your comments. I hear 'this boat is truly sensational...' and think... really? I mean, to make this more sensational you'd just fit a 7th engine.. then an 8th, or 9th, or 7000th engine.. I find clever design more sensational.. like the drop down balcony's which I've seen on Galeon GTs - or the electric hydrofoil recently show cased.. This boat strikes me as the Gillette marketing of boats... TURBO MAX PRO with 5 blades, for the closest shave yet.... next year then out comes TURBO MAX PRO ELITE with 6 blades and green rubberised handle....
I’m pretty sure somewhere in a shed in England a guy has put 5 five horsepower outboards bolted across a scaffold board and then set on the back of a shortish fibreglass boat. I’d pay to see that run, far funnier than this which is along the lines of a “my willy’s bigger than your willy” achievement. If it was a greyer interior I might have suggested Ron Dennis as the owner….

Six engines? That's bush league. We like to put at least eleven on ours. That way, when we get into a shootout with that coast guard helicopter, we probably have 4-5 engines left.

This is very economical indeed, compared to the Carribean cruise ship Harmony which burns through 2,800 gallons per hr at 25 kts, which by my calcs is 96GPM - or roughly 22,600 l/100km! Harmony does carry a few more pax though...
When the 600 hp motor came out about a year back, I thought it will be only a matter time that someone will stick 6 of them behind a boat. Welp, here we are. I am not complining though.
Mercury has a 500hp version of this motor called the Sea Pro for commercial applications. It has heavy-duty components that provide rugged reliability. I believe these are the motors that killed the production of the 7 Marine engines.
I honestly have trouble understanding how people can afford things like this...I'm not trying to shame anyone or say people shouldn't "have this much money" because honestly, I say good for them...but from the perspective of my own life, I'm like holy cow!

I just realized that this boat has 72 spark plugs and they are $40 each. Yeah, i know it doesn't matter, they last 1000 hour and it's far from the most expensive service point, but I just find it hilarious that some guy, somewhere, sometime, is going to have to order a case of sparkplugs and pay $2800 for them...

This appears to be a direct competitor to the Midnight Express Piedamerand Cigarette Tirranna 60 foot class center console 6 motor boats.
