Kutty Theyyam traditional dance in Kerala, India

A nighttime Kutty Theyyam ritual at Neeliyar Bhagavathi temple near Kannur, Kerala, South India. One of my favorite off the beaten track experiences in India!
Theyyam is a ritual form of worship common to northern Kerala and southern Karnataka states in India. It's believed that once a dancer is in full costume, they begin to channel a god, who takes over their body for the dance.

Yakshagana in karnataka and theyyam in kerala are totally different

Yakshagana is not the same. as Theyyam.
In Dakshina Kannada (Mangalore), the same 'god/goddess invocation' as Theyyam is practiced.
It is called Boota Kola or Buta Kola.
