  • Cumberland Island is a 45-minute ferry ride from the Georgian coast, but it feels like you are in the Caribbean - with white sand beaches, palm trees and moss-laden twisted trees. It also has 150 wild horses, over 320 species of birds and cute armadillos who aren’t afraid of humans.
    And only a maximum of 290 people can visit the 13km wide island a day. I spent two days on the island and for long periods I didn't see another person.
    What a magical place.
