One of the band members once said, "She was Marilyn Monroe, but she didn't seem to know it", indicating a complete absence of pretentiousness. He said that she would apologize to the band whenever there was a mistake during the brief rehearsals, whether it was hers or theirs. This woman braved the February cold in a summer dress, catching pneumonia, all to give some young men, living in the hellish environment of the DMZ, many of whom had experienced combat, a brief escape, and memories to last a lifetime. She was "tops."
Absolutely. I hate to trust without ever knowing her, but you just get a vibe watching her. I'm a.musician and am VERY sensitive to treatment by people who think they are greater. Marilyn Forever.
Marilyn didn't discriminate by skin color, that's why she will always remain in my heart. She was a very talented actress, how well she sang in front of the soldiers without the Hollywood pressure that denigrated her.
Marilyn herself said this was the highlight of her life and the first time she really realized she was famous. i love this docu. This is so well done! Wish it included the letter Cary Grant wrote Marilyn upon his return from Korean or Japanese hospitals telling her if she ever had the opportunity to visit, she was the topic of all the soldiers he visited. Some had sent trinkets to give to her. Cary was sending them on to her a bit belated along with the letter. I think her visit was serendipity, but Cary's letter was fortuitous.
This is a wonderful video about Marilyn. It surely reveals that she was very willing to make her Fans as happy to see her, as she was as happy to see them. It's so too bad that celebrities, in these days, don't have the same sense. Marylin is a True golden celebrity of the Hollywood Golden era. What a lovely lady.
Terrific documentary, thank you for uploading! Marilyn looks absolutely divine in Korea. I wonder why they didn't include the color footage that also exists.
Love this video. So well done. Love Marilyn. She just seemed like the real deal. Wish she had come out the other end of her problems. I think she deserved a longer life.
This is wonderfully new to me, although the narrator's tone throughout the video makes me feel uncomfortable. I can't make up my mind if I should investigate darker plots regarding Marilyn's trip to Korea or bask in her eternal beauty while enjoying the effect she had on the troops!
Ha! I believe that’s because this documentary was originally made by a French production so the English narration was probably an after-thought. The lack of background music is equally jarring at times but worth the watch for the restored archive content.
@@SilverTechnicolor Oh, absolutely!!! The footage is PRICELESS in itself. I realized it was translated from French and put two and two together after I wrote my comment, lol! I thought I was getting paranoid and reading more into the words than was normal. It came off like a spy thriller!!! 😂😂🤣🤣😆😆
On the whole, great documentary....... But Joe didn't send roses to Marilyn's grave until his death... He sent them until 1982, 17 years before his death. Apart from that, great documentary
He did claim money back for the loan on her house ($5000). But this is what everyone also did. Her make up artist Whitney Snyder got paid for bills, etc. The estate belonged to the Strasbergs, so there’s no reason why anyone wouldn’t have claimed their money back. Joe actually stepped in to pay for Marilyn’s mother’s care in 1965 when no one else would. I am currently working on a DiMaggio book which will discuss this amongst other things so stay tuned. Of course Marilyn wasn't a racist. She made every soldiers day and was in every G.I.'s dream. It's so nice to know that she was as nice as she was breathtakingly beautiful.

Great documentary. Wonderful to see Marilyn during the happiest few days of her life.
Love this video. So well done. Love Marilyn. She just seemed like the real deal. Wish she had come out the other end of her problems. I think she deserved a longer life.
So generous of her. What a good heart.

I just found some photos of my grandfather that had her in it when he was in Korea so I came to learn more
Loved it!! Cheers for sharing in such a special day.
Well, Marilyn Monroe was a real trooper. RIP MM.
They are trying to demolish her home. It should become a tourist attraction like Graceland.

I will be attending Marilyn's 60th memorial on August 5th
Thanks , that was very intressting
She wanted to be known as a person, not a sex symbol. She wanted her fans to know HER.

She's pretty as always.

Some say he charged her estate afterwards. I hope that's not true.

I think Joe only put roses for 20 years- not until his death.
But I wish that I was wrong.
You are correct, it was 20 years.

Rest easy Angel, someday the truth will come out.
Thank you to the USA brothers for protecting Korea from communism. God always takes care of USA.🇰🇷🇺🇸❤️
