I am a Tweedy Outdoors subscriber who came over at his recommendation and enjoyed this video. I have subscribed and look forward to watching your stuff. When I was a kid I lived near Richborough castle and have always been interested in the remains of the Roman occupation.

I understand these sticks gave birth to the phrase “don’t get the wrong end if the stick”.
Glad to have featured again, albeit virtually, and about my great big Roman nose. There’s actually a tie in to next weeks Phallis episode. I understand there’s a scientific study that suggests a correlation between the two. I’ll leave you to research the rest.

Excellent videoing … appropriately crap music. As usual your sartorial excellence is impressive. I can’t understand why these schoolyard toilet blocks didn’t catch on in the imagination of the common folk. What would you do if you are an old soldier and like many you needed to go to do a lash in the middle of the night, did they have a night bucket? Sadly, Roman culture and technology didn’t seem to effect the British natives. A bit like the lack of influence the British Rajah and their soldiers had on the common folk of Indian subcontinent.
Thank you - I’m glad you like this one, it was a favourite of mine - for a long time it didn’t get much attention, but seems to be doing the rounds again at the moment.
Although the Rescript probably didn’t refer to the withdrawal from Britain, it does make for a dramatic end to Roman rule. It is fascinating that the natives didn’t fight to retain the benefits and seem to have allowed it to quickly disappear. Although I guess all the invasions took up a lot of their focus.
The crap music in this one is my favourite of all the lousy music on my channel. You can hear it again in Big Roman Toilet, when I lose my Roman Gazette folder!
Another great video, the production quality is really high and I love the sense of fun and the upbeat tempo to the whole thing. Not to mention I actually learned something new!

Thanks Tweedy - much appreciated! I have been working my way through your back catalogue and really enjoying it. My initial concerns about there being another tweed-based, “older” vlogger have been allayed! It’s like we’ve got north and south covered - from a tweed perspective!
@@WC21UKProductionsLtd I'm actually quite a sloppy dresser! I treat the tweed suits a bit like overalls and very rarely wear a tie. It's not that I don't like ties, but I have quite a fat neck, and with a tie on it looks like I have a head attached directly to my shoulders! Whereas you always appear very neatly turned out and have given thought to all the individual details.
Also our content styles are very different - your videos seem like you actually thought about the whole thing carefully in advance, then take some care in editing it afterwards. Whereas I just show up with the GoPro and make it up as I go along - with plenty of umming and erring along the way, and then editing for me is more or less just stitching all the clips together (and only occasionally cutting out some of the really boring bits). I would describe my artistic style as akin to a schoolboy's "wot I did on my holidaze" essay.
I think there is plenty of room on UA-cam for the both of us!
@@WC21UKProductionsLtd I can confidently inform you that John is *delighted* to encounter people who share his passions. If it was up to him we'd all be tweed-clad and drinking Gev Cham around the clock.
I do think these Roman Gazette vlogs through in advance - I even have a folder, as you have now seen. Your vlogging style is hugely watchable and you can see that in the success you're having with the channel.
There's a quote I like about English chaps getting dressed, but I can't find it. Something about paying great care and attention to all the details when getting dressed, and then forgetting all about it. That's what I do, I think!
