Thanks Hedley - much appreciated, as ever. I suspect that Tweedy and I share an inclination to subvert expectations. This all came about very quickly and I really enjoyed it!
I am rewatching this from the woods in the dark and it is such a delight. Thank you once again Mr WC21 for all that went on behind the scenes to make this bit of magic happen, I had such a fun time! As always your editing prowess adds a huge amount to the finished video, especially when you consider the terrible "talent" you had to work with! I love that drone footage too, it's really such a privilege to be able to relive a very fun afternoon through a different pair of eyes / drone mounted camera.
Oh my goodness, I nearly referred to your real name in my reply - and that just won't do, as we know! Brand is King on UA-cam. Thank you for your very kind words and I must express my gratitude to you for providing the impetus to this very enjoyable day out. Also the absolutely excellent idea of a Roman era wild luncheon, with appropriate wine - I would never have thought of that. I very much hope we can do another one in the not too distant future, and whilst I can't quite believe I'm typing this, I sense that maybe one day, I will wild camp!
@@WC21UKProductionsLtd I think plenty of people on UA-cam know my real name now, and I'm quite happy if anyone wants to call me John rather than Tweedy! As I mentioned at the end of my video I think Keith Floyd probably deserves the credit here for the inspiration to cook a Roman meal at Hadrian's Wall. I suspect the one he made was more authentic, but, that said, we didn't end up throwing the one I made over our shoulders! I'm not sure whether I can really recommend wild camping given my recent experiences! "Wild luncheon" provides a lot of the positives without many of the negatives... but of course my recent trips have been in inclement weather and at a generally unfavourable time of year. It's a bit different once it's warmer and the daylight hours are longer.
@@tweedyoutdoors I think on the next one we should possibly address this naming convention. Since I did the Wessex Ways Podcast more people have been calling me by name in the comments - which is fine. I've actually had it the description from the off, but of course, nobody reads that! An idea about a wild camp location is forming. When the weather is better. Can't believe I've said that!
My Italian wife would approve of that meal. The advantage of not having a cork is that once the bottle is opened it is necessary to drink it all. Your blend of comedy and antiquarianism is delightful.
Many thanks, Ron. Tweedy is an absolute genius with his wild cooking. This was a fabulous day out. A bleak wintery day in empty countryside, sheltered by Roman ruins, eating excellent food, drinking fine wine and in great company!
Great stuff, you two, as usual! And how heart-warming to see the collaboration, as we have separately exchanged comments a number of times in the past. I myself must apologise for posting a bit sluggishly in the past weeks, but what we call 'daytime jobs' can sometimes get in the way of things without any consideration for our artistic selves...Please do more of this!
Hi Matt, so good to hear from you! It’s really odd - I actually mentioned you to Tweedy and was thinking of dropping you an email to check all was OK. The day jobs are a nightmare for getting in the way of our artistic passion. I’d much rather do stuff like this all the time! Thanks for watching and commenting and I hope you can get more time for yourself soon!
I roared with laughter on the intro, very very funny, especially after seeing the video announcement clip!! Tweedy was quite clearly looking for the pepper mill carved into the wall. I must admit I've never seen Hadrian's wall this close before so these videos are a treat. Interesting to see the river has gradually changed course over time. No surprise that the stonework disappeared into a nearby farmstead. I wish I would bump into a bottle of wine every time I went into my office ..... perhaps that's because my office isn't haunted!! Haha, loved the observation about cooking videos. For me the interesting part is all the prep, worth having a look at Patrick Dickinson who has done lots of wild camping in the peak district. Great video you work very well together, well done to both of you!! All the best!!
Thank you David, that is very kind of you and I'm glad it made you laugh. Very satisfying to me that you appreciate seeing these remnants - one of the key things I wanted to achieve with this cranky channel was to show what we've got here - these tantalising survivals! Cheers as ever for your engagement and support.
WC21 can you do an overnight camp with Tweedy? I’m sure that deserves a one hour special video!!! Tweedy looking at the rock ‘inscriptions’ at the start was priceless! Lovely drone footage and your historical knowledge and deadpan wit combined with Tweedys warm jocularity and wine/food knowledge is what makes you two very special. 😅
Oh thank you so much - what a lovely review - I'm sure I speak for both of us in expressing that. It's funny you should mention the idea of me wild camping...I can't believe I'm typing this, but I think it might happen at some stage!
Thank you both, entertaining, mildly subversive, informative.
Thank you, Chris - glad you enjoyed it - it was fun to make!
Another extremely enjoyable collaboration. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it, Frank! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Darren and John. UA-cam’s finest double act. More please 🙏
Thank you Andrew! I'm sure there will be more soon!
You two really do keep me informed and entertained! And occasionally surprised 😅
Thanks Hedley - much appreciated, as ever. I suspect that Tweedy and I share an inclination to subvert expectations.
This all came about very quickly and I really enjoyed it!
Thanks Hedley! I think the keeping informed part here was very much Mr WC21, but hopefully I contributed a bit to the surprise element!
Totally enjoyed this fun time -Thank you Darren and friend
Thanks James! It was fun and I’m glad that came across.
yet another really interesting video , well done and thank you both so much 😊
Thank you Davie - glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching.
Haha, great job, couple of UA-cam Legends, keep em coming 😊
Thank you! I can’t speak for Tweedy, but I’m certainly a legend in my own head!

I really enjoyed this. Loved the colab too. Thank you for sharing.
That’s great, Chris - thank you!
Thoroughly entertaining, thankyou 😊
Cheers - we really enjoyed doing this!
I very much enjoyed the wine commentary in this!
It was all my own words! Thank you!

Great editing and narratives! As always, really enjoy the location
Thank you - it means a lot. This location has long been on my list and it didn't disappoint.

I wonder what the legionnaires would have thought of a decent Italian / New York style Pizza! 😂 🇬🇧 🇳🇿
Yes! I suspect it might have cheered them up if they came from Spain to man the frontier in freezing cold Northumberland! Thanks for watching.
