This Video has been so factual and helpful. I set up a S&S ISA with AJ BELL almost immediately after watching your video. This is something I have always wanted to do but had no idea where to start as a 22 year old who has worked full time since I turned 16 and has no higher education, it has became immensely important to me to try and build some sort of wealth for the future so this in combination with a very good works pension gives me great confidence for the future. Edit: The only addition that I would add is that its not the stock price thats the price of the company its the market cap thats the true value.. the price of the company is just the number of outstanding shares divided by the market cap. Like Currently with Berkshire Hathaway has shares worth $400k+ but having a market cap of 711B, compared to Microsoft with share price being "only" $307 but market cap of 2.2Trillion.. so MSFT is more expensive to buy but the stock price is significantly lower.
So this just means that Berkshire has fewer shares outstanding

Some people invest without knowing it i.e. in their pension. Ok so they may not pick the shares themselves but effectively they still own shares.

I think I just don't want the stress of worrying about an individual company making stupid choices, or accidentally buying an over valued company.
I mostly do the FTSEs and started when the pandemic hit so not done too bad.

    Hi guys,
I need a second opinion on a couple of funds. I’ve always been a vanguard guy for long term ETF’s, however I’m starting another portfolio, other than my main one, as transferring an old ISA. I’ve been looking at Invesco ETF’s as opposed to Vanguards. Such as the S&P 500 and the equivalent world funds. The invesco offerings appear to have slightly lower charges, and also significantly better performance over the same 5 year period. I’m talking about MXWS vs VWRP mainly. Any thoughts? Thanks! :)

Hey Tim, Depends on the type of account with an ISA you don't need to do anything as there's no tax liability, it's all tax free. In terms of safety it's covered by the FSCS up to £85k (cash) investments are held separately so are safe.

No problem at all! Glad to year. Freetrade is just a platform so it'll be what you buy within there that determines your return. Your best bet if starting out would be the fund mentioned in this video, and then buy a couple companies you like for fun.

Great video, I've been somewhat torn between the VUSA and VWRL ETFs. Despite being all US, the S&P 500 ETF has been less volatile than the VWRL ETF in the past 5 years. A global index fund does seem attractive though with markets such as China and India having great potential in the future given the right conditions.

If possible, I'd recommend both. I've gone with the Vanguard Life Strategy and the VUSA, one's pretty much a safer bet, and the other, whilst riskier, can see higher returns :)

VUSA is volatile but a good performer in the longer run, FTSE Global All Cap Index Fund Accumulation performs a bit slower but is also more stable and the Vanguard LS100 has done fine ... whereas the LS60 has been a dumpster fire thanks to that high bond portion.
