Super super cool! Love the energy and the location! Wish we had nice places to rig like that round here! One of the bits of info I very rarely see anywhere is rigging anchors on trees using static rope. There's so many ways to do it, but very little guidance, have you got any links? Also, watched the video on trick line anchors breaking (so epic! FOR SCIENCE!), it would be interesting to know if this rope backup through the weblock would still suffice? (It looks bomber and the forces are less so Im guessing it'll be fine) Edit: spelling mistake
Hey guys, been following your videos for a while now. Great stuff, loads of detail and plenty of things to think about. We rigged a highline the otherday and found ourselves wondering...what can we do when the highliner isn't able to get back on the line or at worst unconscious. Any suggestions? Keep up the good work!! Regards from Germany.
If you have a healthy happy highliner who can't climb their leash, you could always slide out to them and give them a rope ladder (etrier/aider) or something to help. I generally don't allow anyone to get on my lines that can't get back up on a leash or I leave them out there and within 45 minutes they figure it out haha. An unhealthy non-responsive highliner needs to be reached right away and made up-right so they don't suffocate with their tongue in the back of their throat or some other darwin award. Then you can take your tension system out there (or a fancy one just for rescuing) and lift them up towards line, clip them on a hangover/lineslide, lower their weight onto such slider and then slide their ass back to the anchor where hopefully you have a friend to help you help them back onto cliff. I don't know of anyone who has become unconscious but it's always good to be prepared. I will do a video on this before year is over. Glad you like the videos
HowNOTtoHIGHLINE Thanks for the super quick reply. Looks like we've had similar ideas to you. I'll pass on that information. Can't wait to see that video, Thanks again.
Simply astonishing! one minute request, can you please give some tech details in the end or the beginning of the videos? type of line (possibly the important characteristics of the line), length (in meters as well) rigging equipment used, approximate tension used, you know the typical things that are mostly asked in the comment section. thanks in advance, keep up the good work.
You can see the fishing line near his ear as he shoots, then we shot the arrow a 2nd time with the fishing line still attached to it. Then we had the fishing line between us and garrison. If you can use a drone... it is waaaaaayyyyy easier! haha
Robert Scott double becken bend. Its adjustable and better than fisherman's but im not a pro at it so i stick to my fishermans. Someone else tied it haha
This line was meant to be left up for more than a few days so we rigged with minimal gear. Also, anchor is very easy to maneuver around so it's not a big deal to derig. Usually we use one.
Owen Roll no i havent. We ended up traveling a lot and the wedding was a lot of work. I did get on 2 different 1000 footers and crossed those. We are planning some big lines this year but i"m also less worried about sending and just have fun and cross each line. Thats why i like that fuck sending shirt i wear i my more recent videos haha.
I'm shocked too! I was prepared for a lot of criticism because there are so many styles of rigging but all the feedback has been helpful or positive so I too am learning through this process. I like our highlining community!
Most of it's hard to sell for quick cash for drug money and it's too heavy to be stolen (thieves are lazy) and I take it all with me when I'm not home or at least most of it :)
I used to think that until I was robbed! Thieves sometimes work in packs (gangs). They cased our neighborhood, checked our mail ... walked away with a lot stuff in less than 5 mins according to the police. I guess that's what prompted me to comment in the first place. I hope you never have that experience. BTW: your videos are great!

You're a beast. Such a good channel. Love it!

Philipp Gesing did a great job with his article and video. Hard to improve on this concept! slacktuev.org/2016/11/17/teddy-a-minimalistic-rescue-kit/

You got it! If I can't fit it in the video... I'll put it in the description. Thanks.
did u use a fishing rod?
I do sometimes but we used a bow and arrow setup. You can see it at 1:00 min
HowNOTtoHIGHLINE OMG i just can't follow what you said happened after you shot the arrow tge first time. i feel so stupid
HowNOTtoHIGHLINE why was the arrow shot without the line the first time?

Hi Ryan. What type of knot is that on your tensioning side backup (the orange rope)? I couldn't quite catch what you said in the video.
Robert Scott double becken bend. Its adjustable and better than fisherman's but im not a pro at it so i stick to my fishermans. Someone else tied it haha
why dont you use a soft release on your tensioning side?
This line was meant to be left up for more than a few days so we rigged with minimal gear. Also, anchor is very easy to maneuver around so it's not a big deal to derig. Usually we use one.
Hey, I know it's been a year but, did you ever make it back 5-7 more times to get the send? Just curious, love the channel!

The music isn’t great but the video is good job

That's why I like feather pro! :)
You have some $$$ hanging on that wall! Hope you have security.
