@ThatMetalBloke , totally agree! Although obviously not as great as Toxicity there are some absolute bangers on there like Chic N Stu, Mr Jack, Johnny, etc!!
Rage Against the Machine for me, I know people might feel a type about Renegades but I still think it’s a great album that just gets outshined by their other albums
I feel like Opeth are sort of the Dark Souls of metal in a way. People kinda shit on the proggy stuff in the same way people shit on Dark Souls 2 because it isn't as good as DS1 or DS3. Same can be said for the prog era Opeth, but in the same way, DS2 is not a bad game it's just not as good as the others. Opeths prog albums are still damn good albums and I still thoroughly enjoy them, but they're no Blackwater Park, Still Life or Ghost Reveries. Hard agree on Mastodon too, even The Hunter and Once More Round the Sun I thought were quite good when they came out. Besides that a solid list and a solid video!
Great picks dude! Love almost all these bands, gives me an excuse to listen to their full discographies. I’m gonna throw Between The Buried And Me in the mix, many people have mixed thoughts about some of their later material but I think all of it is really good and just depends what you’re looking for
Yeah, I miss them a lot too. I first saw them opening for NIN back in the early 90s, and they blew me away. Best band in the building that day. I think I’ve seen them more often live than any other band outside of Tool and Primus. As an aside, you might check out A Pale Horse Named Death. It has a couple of the old Type O members, including Sal. They have some pretty good stuff, and well worth giving them a listen.
Agree on all of those. Need to give Immolation more of a listen though. On Gojira, preferred Amazonia to Magma, although I love both. Also, prefer Steal This Album to Mesmerise/Hypnotize. I'd 100% add Tool like a few people have already suggested.
Not many people have heard of Moonsorrow but they haven't put out a bad song let alone a bad album. In fact all their albums are top tier despite their constant evolution.
cattle decapitation for me. maybe their earlier stuff isn’t as good, but it’s still enjoyable. they’ve been absolutely killing it ever since monolith of inhumanity
The problem with Overkill though is that they've played it safe more than any thrash band. 20 albums without ever really doing anything different. They changed a bit in the 90s like most bands, but the 2000s has been them releasing the same album over and over. They're the Motorhead of thrash.
These are great picks there and I agree with a lot of these. Some bands have all brilliant albums through one or two genres and there are others from their discographies that show a progression with different influences, songwriting and variation. I appreciate the open mindedness these bands decide to share during their careers.
Two of my picks inspired by current rotation. Reuben - three (terrific) albums and done. And, The Wildhearts - Ginger being one of the greatest songwriters the UK has ever produced imo.
h100% agree with SOAD, Gojira, Type O Negative, Carcass, and TBDM. Waiting for SYL in episode 2. They were so brilliant, and I know they'll make your list one of these days.
Good list, i agree with you with Type O Negative, my favorite album is October Rust, damn i love this album. My list has some non-metal and some more Hard Rock bands. Yeah, I think we all knew Immolation was going to be on here. How could they not? Like, what's their worst album? You'll probably get five different answers, and every answer would end with "I mean, it's still a solid 7..." Remarkable consistency in quality, while never sounding stagnant.
Three bands that come to mind that don't have a bad album are Carcass, Riverside and Katatonia. They have always released consistent music over the years.
Never mentioned Death and mentioned a heap of bands whose music I am not into. I heard a song from Black Dahlia Murder and I thought it was very good, but I've never listened to any of their albums so I can't judge.
SoaD deserve reevaluation from their detractors tbh, because they really are a taleted, unique and fun band while still having a message to give. Excellent band.
I enjoy them a lot and nearly included them on this list but went with Immolation for my Death Metal pick. They will feature in a future video for sure

Type O, absolutely. The rest of these bands, though, jesus, you must be joking, but April Fools Day isn't for nearly two months yet...System of a Down? eww.
Some bands no one ever mentions with no bad albums are Armored Saint. Armored Saint don't get enough credit. Sick of It All, love every album. Pro-pain. Gary Meskil is a riff master and lord or catchy chorus's. Therion, not counting that 3 hour vanity project, I love every Therion album. The Berzerker. 5 albums and I love them all. The Accused. Every Accused album is a blast of fun. Enslaved. Love them all. A lot of Black Metal purists will argue this one but I love every Satyricon album. Satyricon were my gateway band into second wave Black Metal.
I agree that Armored Saint don't get enough recognition. John Bush is a hell of a singer and I enjoyed his work with Anthrax. I agree with all your other picks as well. I will mention them over the course of future videos I am sure
Vallenfyre, no bad output, finished now, in and out , gave us the goods , then went away, although Gregor is doing strigoli( badly spelled)I think it's called...haven't checked em in depth yet...but I think they are in the heavy, crusty vain...

Big catalogue. No fizzers.
Cool picks 🤟 100% agree! I'd add Katatonia, Testament, Overkill and Kreator
UPD: and Death, of course

As a huge kreator fan. I feel like some of there mid and late 90's stuff lacks in my opinion. Still okay but lacks.
SYL, Primus, Tool, and Rammstein are the first bands that spring to mind for me.
Rammstein definitely!

I thought I liked your taste in music after the first one then you hit it out of the park with Gojira :)
Great list, you can add Faith No More to it in my opinion or a thing from Mike Patton for that matter !

Moseley and early Patton albums are great (up to Angel Dust). The later ones are kind of mixed.
