Crazy to hear she thinks she’s too thin. I think she looks strong! I was on the pill for over a decade and got off due to side effects. It’s definitely a risk vs benefit scenario and every female should be well informed. I don’t ever want kids but I love seeing women come back from childbirth even stronger!
You are right, Keely is so strong! It was so interesting to here her perspective on everything from body image to losses. If you want to hear more from Keely, make sure you check out the full chat on the podcast, here: hyperurl.co/i4yxt0 hope you enjoy and let me know what you think if you listen!
It is more like she is tall and has a bit narrower bome structure but she does look strong. Still body Image is an important topic and topic to be careful with.
1:54 wins gold at the world championships. You can do that time. Go for it, Keely. If you can't out sprint the likes of Mary & Athing, then run a hard fast race. Like you did in Paris. That'll break'em. 👍
I am convinced she is going to win that gold medal at the World Championships!!! If you want to hear more from Keely too, check out the full interview on my podcast Reign, you can listen here: hyperurl.co/i4yxt0 and let me know what you think - hope you enjoy it! Josh
@@reignwithjoshsmith Cheers, Josh. I'm not sure Keely can out sprint Mary or Athing. But if she runs hard and fast like David Rudisha 2012, she can beat them. Good luck to her. 👍 Keely, should copy, David. ua-cam.com/video/YKEOjWEzVGs/v-deo.html
my favourite female athletes have all run either 200m, 400m & 800m! they includer ann packer, lillian board, kathy cook, kelly holmes & now keely hodgkinson! they are all world class & had/have a determination to win!!!

This is really a great interview. Kudos to Keely not just for her great achievements on the track, but for discussing the challenges affecting young women athletes, and the lack of knowledge and research around some of these issues. Realy good to hear contraception, body image and pregnancy within woemn's sports careers discussed intelligently. Good questions too, nicely framed. Thank you!
I love watching Keely's excellent running form for inspiration in my 400-800 efforts. I'm only 5'8" and do not have long stride and need to compensate for this with a faster cadence.

Can't even imagine a negative body image when lean or muscular. Both look hot to me. But its really easy to change either, the lean or muscular look. Can do it without even trying. Just stop working out, and have another bagel. Its the portly look that takes work to change.
Thank you so much - I really really appreciate this as I have got a bit of homophobic hate for this interview so this really means a lot! The 800 is a tough race. You need stamina, speed and strength in equal amounts. Muscles are essential but too much bulk (like a sprinter’s physique) is detrimental. She is an incredible athlete.
this is the first time I have seen her. in the first milliseconds 0:19 I was like "her forehead looks long" btw I'm former 1:50 800m guy. always clean. all Glory to God.
She's a top athlete and extremely, extremely talented. Yet somehow this comes across as WHINGING and MOANING about how tough life is? Research: It comes from revenue the athletics makes as a business, it's not a "human right", it's a privilege to be able to run top level. Only a rare few are good enough to make good money at the very top in this sport. Challenges: A peak performance athlete: It's part of the training how to manage psychology, training demands and then fitting life AROUND that! It's also a short-term thing in life that's probably the key perspective missing here? I'd much prefer to hear the practical advice she can give about her life and peak-performance athletics/sports as well as the benefits she gains from this life-style and monetization from it instead of moaning and complaining.
She’s not too thin for her career. However if she wasn’t a top professional athlete she definitely IS thin. Professional track athletes have to be running MACHINES maintaining unusually low body fat levels. This is especially true of middle and long distance runners. There’s nothing wrong with her strength levels but most women don’t want to look as lean as she does. Her leaness reveals her underlying muscularity which is what the average woman will harp on about. Keely is SHREDDED. It’s very difficult and unhealthy to maintain such low body fat levels throughout the year which is why they all gain weight in the off season.

Sounds like a Yorkshire accent to me.
Apparently she grew up in the Manchester area but studies in Leeds
Her accent is from the North West of England. Greater Manchester. Originally I was from close to that area and everyone speaks like her there!
Keely is a great role model for younger and older women ❤
Keely is a amazing talent and gorgeous too but now that Gemma Reekie is back fit she'll have more of a challenge.

as nice a girl as i guessed, from the way she greets each other runner at the end of each race...good luck Keely!
You forget how young she is. Success came so early for Keely.
She has years and years ahead of her, wonder what the eventual medal count will be.
