As a white parent of an African-American young man who was raised in the south,
I was over joyed by this story. Though my son has not received the same acknowledgments in academics, sports or society, he certainly has received his mother’s and mine love and support through his everyday life. We fell in love the first time we met him. This is a story of love, growth and acceptance and an encouragement to all adults to consider the call to accept a needy child into their life from a different racial background.
Why do u say African -American? Then u should call urself as European -American and not as just white.

Maybe I feel differently because I took a DNA test and I see that I am from Africa and I’m very proud of it. But really, I’ve always been like this. It really don’t matter to me at all. What ticks me off is when a person calls themselves..brown.. when they know perfectly well..they have two black parents. 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️I’m struggling with that with a family member. Mary is a kind woman to raise a black child despite prejudice in her white community. Jack grew to be a nice person and chosing basketball as one of the sport he love to play with the help of his mother made him a top basketball player. The bond he has with his adopted mother is amazing. Amazing story of love between two different race that brought them together and now Jacob is taking up the challenge to help other children to see their potential theough basketball sport
As the old saying goes, "Opposites attract," it also applies here.

I recall my life experiences in the fireservice. My conversations with my FireLt. Who passed away from an inoperable brain tumor. After his passing, he adopted 4 Black kids added to his family. God bless Lt. Mullens family. Great man to work for and leader. Rest with the Lord.

He is adorable, I would love him too. But I’m too old now. My daughter offered to adopt from 2 black daughters of nurses who worked with my daughter who is a doctor but the girls kept their babies so she decided to have her own child. But we don’t care about color, it wouldn’t make a difference to us either. This is a wonderful story.
