I was told by some (and this is all preference) that you should move the mala with the middle finger + thumb, as to not "point" with the index at the mala, casting judgement. But also in Western terms the middle finger carrying it's own meaning which leans negative. So this is purely all preference! Just wanted to share this info! EDIT: he mentions this more at 11:50
