  • Mad Sunday at last years Isle Of Man TT. Got up early for a cruise around. Excuse the poor lines and ham fisted throttle work. The R1200GS Adventure is a big old beast, but it still goes nuts when you want it too !!!!!

    I cannot ever get over how well the R1200GS's handle, absolutely love mine, they seem to prove Scottie wrong and "you can defy the laws of physics" :) In terms of real world power where keeping sportier bikes revved up enough isn't always practical or easy, the GS is a lot faster than people think from looking at the performance purely on paper.

    This is awesome, thanks for sharing it. Seeing a GS ridden a lot harder than I can ride mine is a fun time.

    F*****G hell bud, did you put slicks on that thing !!!! Enjoyed every moment of that vid. Thinking of buying a GS and been told that they are a bit sluggish when it comes to speed......are they F**k !! Thanks for posting (I think you made my mind up lol). Awesome riding by the way.

    • @crotchrocket3000
      @crotchrocket3000  8 років тому +1

      Thanks man! The GS isnt sluggish at all, in fact its surprisingly revvy! The GS is slightly quicker than the GSA too. Have a look at a couple of my older vids, i had a white GS.

    • @StuHNomadBiker
      @StuHNomadBiker 7 років тому

      Mate, the only folk who say they're sluggish.... are folk who've never ridden one, almost 90ft/lbs of Torque..at about 6k rpm, weight that up against a sports bike, ops the max power is nowhere near 200bhp but thats not the whole story ;-)

    Hi Crotchrocket, thanks for the video. I've now upgraded to the GSA from the GS and it takes the whole concept of the bike to a higher level, just as you said it would. Cheers and ride safe, Andy

    "Weird having the whole road to use." Got a taste for the right lane like we have in the U.S.? I'm a GSA rider, too. It does have balls! I pity the drivers in the cars getting passed.

    Superb video! You've convinced me to get on with my plans of visiting the Isle to watch the race soon. You mentioned having a GS before your GSA. I have ridden both (own a GS) and wonder whether you miss the agility of the GS? Any regrets in your move to the GSA from a GS?

    What are the rules of speeeding and the one way bits? Never been but when there's a national speed limit (60) is that just completely derestricted? And what parts are just one way? Definitely need to do this at some stage

      Don't see why not. Its a LeoVince SBK silencer (in stainless) and Mivv Stainless headers.

    • @garycraggs9953
      @garycraggs9953 7 років тому

      I was curious about that too. I have test ride this bike and seen more than a few videos from the saddle, and I'm bugged by the rattly engine noise from below. Your video suggests that the exhaust can drown out the rattle and get back to the throaty rumble of the old oil heads. Daft, I know, but the hollow rattle of tappets and valves is a real irritant in the way of me upgrading... Does your exhaust sound as good from the cockpit as does in this video?

    • @crotchrocket3000
      @crotchrocket3000  7 років тому

      Yeah It sounds pretty much the same in reality. It drowns out 90% of the engine rattles and thats a straight through pipe. I guess you'd need to shorten the silencer down to make it louder still.

      +Finnoctane the amount you spend on touring, you'll be hard pressed getting a new bike any time soon...mind you, a small deposit and a lot of debt gets you a GS for £99 a month these days.

    • @Finnoctane
      @Finnoctane 8 років тому

      Balloaks Bruh!!! Tell me about it...I've had to delay getting an MV Augusta F4RR so I can ride to Patagonia. Proper pains in the balloaks!

    • @balloakz9857
      @balloakz9857 8 років тому

      Finnoctane Ah the MV, most mechanics recon it's the most beautiful machine around, sadly most owners can't agree, as their bikes are constantly in the garage being repaired. ;-)

    I am currently on a BMW S1000XR which is fast but i fancy a GSA,would i be disappointed with it's performance? or can they shift.

    • @crotchrocket3000
      @crotchrocket3000  8 років тому

      I dont think so, they shift pretty good. Different type of power though, low end grunt. Runs out of steam at high RPM.

    • @krytenLister
      @krytenLister 7 років тому

      I had 2 GS LC and loved the bike and it's low end grunt of the boxer ...but my current XR makes me grin more.

      Its not sliding, i just find the front wheel lifts very easily on uneven roads when hammering the throttle and it quickly cuts power.

  • @SMU_3L
    @SMU_3L 8 років тому +1

    Damn that thing can rip when you want it to. I reckon the GSA is the ultimate mile-cruncher. It seems to be able to conquer any task. Im going to the TT next year I think :D Only reason you put the red-bull clip in was beacuse of the price wasnt it? ahhaa

    I am not knocking your bike as I am comparing any bike to my ZX as a possible next bike
