pokemon xy was an almost perfect anime for me, then they ruined the kalos finals, serena left the show and the next season when down the drain both in tone and animation.

pokemon xy was an almost perfect anime for me, then they ruined the kalos finals, serena left the show and the next season when down the drain both in tone and animation.
SM saved the Pokémon Anime.

I’m sorry but the way Pokemon thought seeing Serena for 2 minutes at the end of a episode counted as a “return” is crazy
What's even crazier is that the vocal minority still thinks that he's gonna end up with Serena, despite clear indication that the showrunners wanting to move away from it, and with the knowledge that it didn't really appeal to anyone among the target audience.
And BTW. Serena's return in Journeys treated her with far more respect than her own series did.

Same. I think in a way Ash liked her too, just was too dumb to realize it was a crush considering how many times he teased her, but was also too focused on being a trainer to be in a relationship. Plus Misty supported him a lot and was shown several times having feelings for him, including a song when they formally went their own ways. I haven’t seen Serena’s story in the show, but her feelings for Ash always seemed like a one sided love and he only liked her as a friend. I just like how Misty was his best friend in the first few seasons before they developed feelings for each other, while Serena imo always viewed him as a childhood crush she never really got over. AshXMisty for life
@kristinahuchison2511 I agree ash and misty had more screen time and had more time hinting their feelings. Even though ash was too dumb to notice it. Serena and ash it definitely feels one sided when you consider that anyway flashbacks or daydreams are all from Serena. Which is odd when you think shouldn't ash have some as well. Nope none from him who is the main protagonist of the show. also I agree ash treats her no different than any of his friends, The only difference is Serena doesn't even argue with him which is bad for relationships if there is no balance of disagreements at times when necessary. Plus it feels fake if Serena is being too nice and not calling out ash of anything stupid to help him grow.
That one argument when they were out in the snow doesn't count because it was poorly executed and one sided because Serena missed the point of why he was depressed and her imagine of ash was damaged because he got mad at her for the first time. I don't care what her fans say, what she did was selfish because ash got mad at her for the first time. All she wanted was the ash she imagined in her head to be present not the normal flawed ash that all true fans knew. Which is why I don't think Serena love for ash isn't true love.
Sorry I'd that almost came off as a rant. I dont hate Serena, i just dont like how anime Serena was written. I think how misty and ash was handled was better when it came to the writing.

Better than having her crush on Ash and her pseudo "love interest" status play a part in her characterization.
They did her dirty I haven’t watched all of journeys yet because I’m rewatching them all. At the moment I’m on XYZ but, that was thier only interaction in the whole series of Journeys I don’t understand it. Like they just left and didn’t catch up or anything romantic …why do that to the story it just ruined it.
More like it fixed it as much as they could. Because Serena was done dirty in XY, not Journeys. And the fact that she was written in XY to be an accessory to Ash is literally how she was done dirty in XY.

In my opinion, I think Ash doesn’t fall in love with Serena, but has a crush on her. In Journeys Ep105, he greeted Serena first and told her about his goal before he left Hoenn, I really hope Serena can become the best performer and reunite with Ash again in Pokémon Horizons. They deserve this !
