    I don’t think any of the last four really fit what i want to change. Too many cities around the world are too car dependant, it’s a bit about justice, but it’s also about making life more enjoyable for everyone, making it so that you aren’t forced to drive to work or school every day, and that you can walk or ride a bike truly safely to do your day to day errands, or to head down the local football pitch. Cities being walkable also helps kids have a better childhood, many studies have shown that the netherlands have the happiest kids in the world and a massive part of that is their freedom in their day to day lives. They aren’t reliant on their parents to drive them everywhere, and they don’t have to wait until they are 16 to get a licence. I could go on and on about this all day and thats why i want to get into it but ill leave it at that. Thanks for the insight to the field!

    Get a good degree (a bachelors in architecture and a masters in regional planning in a good school not necessarily the best), be good at taking notes and writing emails.
    You got it, it’s the most exciting and stimulating job in the whole damn world I swear.

      man architecture is not easy,and if u get it no need for masters, I did civil engineering and not job available now doing my master in urban design hope to get something after it

      Is a bachelor’s in architecture really useful for a career in urban planning?
      I’m in my third year of a six-year architecture program and it’s taken me this long to realize - I want to plan cities, not build houses. I want to put something like an Amsterdam or a Copenhagen in every US state and surround each one with gardens.
      Architecture is a little too microscopic for my career goals, which have more to do with urban planning. I’m not sure if I’m wasting my time.

    • @theodoreroosevelt7471
      @theodoreroosevelt7471 3 роки тому

      @@tommarlin7478 it depends on the workshops you choose. Also architecture schools will teach you urban design (which is more of what you want to do like drawing cities with garden belts..etc.) but urban planning master degrees wil not teach you to draw cities with garden, it will teach you how to plan in terms of operational time as well as financial aspects. As an urban planner you will work for city halls for example and you will have architects working for you and you will manage. It’s more administrative than technical.

      Hello chol chol, I'm currently starting urban planning and I'm currently in my second year. To answer your question I will refer to my experience thus far. You don't necessarily have to be skilled at drawing or modelling upon taking up the course but you will be required to present multiple designs and concepts whether it be digitally or on paper but you which be lectured and mentored by people at your institution on how to approach and apply techniques to your work upon doing projects.

    I am a graduated in Architecture in Brazil, but I didn’t work in the field over the last 6 years, so I’m 32 now, but I dream to work in urban planning, specially in land use and regional development, am I too old to pursue a Planning career? Is possible to be approved in a Master Degree overseas? Thank you for your attention

    • @angiie008

      32 is not old to study a master degree. Universities don't care about your age to be accepted. They want to see your motivation!
